'Not only has he been locked out of the town hall and fought fires alone, but he’s been followed by a drone and unable to retrieve the town’s mail and financial accounts, he says. Rather than concede, Haywood “Woody” Stokes III, the former white mayor, along with his council members, reappointed themselves to their positions after ordering a special election that no one knew about. 'Braxton is suing them, the People’s Bank of Greensboro, and the postmaster at the U.S. Post Office. ' For at least 60 years, there’s never been an election in the town.  I respect the parents, for accepting and loving their child unconditionally. A religious nutjob is telling the public ( you can read it here) to not see the newest Barbie movie because it has “demonic influences” and any child who sees it will behave differently. Ivan Tuttle is the founder of Ivan Tuttle Ministries International located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I’m very much for a woman's rights… but this one is hard. She was six months pregnant. The fetus was 30 weeks. She was 6 months pregnant and in the third trimester. The 17-year-old gave birth to a stillborn baby which she had to help her mom bury. Can you imagine how traumatic this must have been for that 17-year-old child? And have you seen a premie baby born at 30 weeks? Anyhow, the teenager who used abortion pills to terminate her pregnancy was sentenced to 90 days in jail. Police charged 19-year-old Celeste Burgess and her mother, Jessica Burgess, who assisted her in getting the pills and disposing of the fetus after Facebook handed over their private messages. Celeste was just 17 when her mother ordered the pills online. The events took place before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022. At the time, abortion in Nebraska was banned after 20 weeks. Earlier this year, Governor Jim Pillen signed a 12-week ban into law. — feeling angry.

Lord Have Mercy, Florida’s public schools ( you can read it here ) will now teach students that SOME Black people benefited from slavery because it taught them useful skills, part of new African American history standards approved Wednesday that was blasted by a state teachers' union as a “step backward.” How can any Florida parents support this attempt to edit history? Why is it wrong to teach American history as it happened? How will these students succeed in college-level history classes? This is disrespectful to my ancestors, me, and my children. Praying.

A father and his son, both pastors at a ( you can read about it here ) Melbourne church, and an Indian Harbour Beach repairman were found guilty by a federal jury in connection with their roles in the failed Jan. 6 insurrection. The convictions of James Varnell Cusick Jr. and his son Casey Cusick — leaders of the Melbourne-based Global Outreach Ministries Church — and David John Lesperance came Friday at the end of a five-day jury trial before District of Columbia Circuit Judge John D. Bates. The jury found the three men guilty of knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or on grounds without lawful authority; disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building; and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, court records show. All three plan to appeal the case. A sentencing date was set for Oct. 12. The three remain out on bond on the misdemeanor convictions, according to court records.

Ivy League Professor Cornell West says he finds it kind of strange that a dime bag of coke was found in the White House while Hunter Biden has been living there. He also says that President Biden's Cognitive Skills are on the decline. It looks like President Joe Biden is continuing his efforts to eradicate student loan debt for millions of Americans. According to reports, the administration just announced it has forgiven $39bn in student loan debt for 804,000 borrowers who have income-driven repayment plans. My daughter and her college roommate qualify for this plan.  Joe is doing an excellent job, we have the lowest Black unemployment in American history, with more Americans working than at any point since the 1960s. Inflation has fallen to 3% (the lowest in the G7), the Afghanistan war ended after 20 years and Covid ended as a pandemic. Biden has been a PHENOMENAL president.  

According to Pastor Bryant, the church owes the LGBT community an apology for forgetting that they belong to the Body of Christ and that they are made in the likeness and image of God. Pastor Bryant’s apology revolves around acknowledging how the church has utilized the gifts and talents of the LGBTQ community while simultaneously marginalizing and rejecting their lifestyle. I think this is a great conversation that was long overdue. The absence of black men in the church has really been detrimental it has made room for men who have ill intentions towards not only women but children. For many Black men, attending church has started to feel like paying a membership fee at a club. The expectation of monetary contributions, often referred to as tithes and offerings, can create a sense of financial burden, leaving some individuals feeling coerced or exploited.  This perception has deterred some men from fully engaging with the church and can lead to skepticism about the true intentions of religious institutions. God has appointed men to be providers and protectors which does not exclude the church. There needs to be a balance in all things. The one thing I notice that all of these men mentioned was their concern for the pastor's use of finances and his interaction with certain members of the church. Many of those things would not take place in the church

Allegedly with two failed churches under their leadership, this is a move that perhaps many would not have predicted.....Bishop and 1st Lady Serita Jakes installed their daughter Sarah Jakes Roberts, and her husband Touré Roberts, as the first-ever assistant pastors of The Potter's House in the church’s 27-year history.  

The United Church of Christ elected its first female general minister and president on Monday at its 34th General Synod in Indianapolis. The Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson’s election also makes her the first woman of African descent to lead the mainline denomination. “Today, United Church of Christ, we created a first together. It won’t be the last first,” Thompson said. Delegates overwhelmingly approved Thompson’s nomination to a four-year term by a 626 to 43 vote. “It’s not just me — there are others who came before me — and perhaps this is the right time for the denomination,” Thompson told media, referring to two women who had previously been nominated for the lead role.

Elevation Church will leave the Southern Baptist Convention, taking its 26,000 weekly worshippers and its massive presence in North Carolina with it. Props to Pastor Steven Furtick-he knows it's bad for business to stay affiliated with a graceless, misogynistic, homophobic, hateful, and abusive condoning entity like the SBC. I am not a huge fan of elevation, but given that the SBC was founded on slavery and massively supported Jim Crow why would any evangelical church want to be a member of it?
