Update: Pentecost Sunday, The Azusa Experience, Has Been Canceled.
Church what do you all think about the above flyer which has caused some online commotion? According to online sources, the Christian holiday of Pentecost is a moveable feast, which is celebrated on the 50th day from Easter Sunday. It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks, as described in the Acts of the Apostles. This coming Sunday Christian Churches all over the world are getting ready to receive what the Lord has prepared for us as we have been on the road to Pentecost.
“Pentecost” is the Greek name for an Old Testament Jewish festival known as the “Feast of Weeks.” Translated to “fifty” in Greek, it refers to the 50 days after the Passover celebration. Pentecost was a significant event during the time of Jesus’ followers. This was the day when the Holy Spirit came and dwelt in each one of them! This event marked the beginnings of the church’s mission to tell the world about Jesus.
Update: A couple of hours ago, Bishop Carlton Pearson posted the below flyer to his Facebook page without any commentary. I don't know if the cancelation is due to the online pushback or not.
