Bishop T. D. Jakes is one of the most famous pastors in America. His multi-thousand-member Dallas megachurch, the Potter’s House, is just one part of his platform; he’s recorded gospel albums, starred in television broadcasts, led several popular conference series, and published numerous books, including his latest, Don’t Drop the Mic. But all of that fame couldn’t prepare Jakes for the past year and a half when his ministry has been upended by the coronavirus pandemic and racial tensions in the United States. Suddenly, he found himself inundated with calls and texts from desperate, grieving families. Meanwhile, he found himself making calls and sending texts to prominent white pastors all over the country who were stumbling through long-overdue conversations with their churches about race. Church in the original Rugrats cartoon, Betty DeVille wore shirts with the female symbol, enjoyed working out, and had an active voice in her relationship with her husband. Now, in the animated remake, she is an openly lesbian single mother. I just don’t understand why they remake classic shows and make changes that change the key dynamic of the show. I loved how Phil and Lil’s mom broke gender roles and was more dominant while her husband was more docile and stayed at home. Back in the day while watching that with my kids, I never saw that before (at least not in cartoons at that time ) I remember thinking like wow she does it all. I just don’t understand why changing her sexuality is needed. Don't get me wrong, I like when shows representation for the LGBTQ community but I do not like that they had her be a lesbian.  Church Gospel Singer “Kelly Price”& R&B Singer "Lyfe Jennings" has taken to social media to accused a Gaveston TX promoter of not being able to pay them, after contracting them to perform at a May 29 event.  Kelly Price stated in one of her lives that after 12 long hours of waiting for the promoter to return calls & texts which resulted in her having to alert her fans to get their money back. The promoter put a live video up and admitted to it and apologized and said he would try and do better. He said he didn't give them the money because there were poor ticket sales. Church my condolences and prayers for Robert Booth, his fiance', his family, and his young son. Booth Sr. age 25 from High Point, N.C. was a Gospel Musician & recently ordained a minister at his church on the 21st of May.  Unfortunately, on Tuesday, May 25th around 8:30 pm near his home this young man was shot & killed. Pastor Robert A. Booth Sr. was a man of faith with a gift for music that he used to serve others. Booth started Hood Holiness Church a few months ago with the goal of ending violence. Pastor Booth was shot and killed outside his home on Tuesday night. Police are searching for two suspects and a burgundy SUV in this case. Even the smallest detail that you may think insignificant, could help police solve this case.  

Church, in my opinion, Voddie Baucham doesn't know the first thing about Critical Race Theory, period. He's a grifter and a charlatan. He sells white evangelicals a Black conservative bigots view of the world. The US was founded on the religion of white supremacy and the practice of slavery. CRT is used as a scapegoat for not dealing with the TRUTH about America. So, evangelicals are championing this guy because he's a Black man who agrees with their anti-Black views, but he uses the same Nazi rhetoric they use: "And cultural Marxism, these ideologies that have taken root in academia and that now are being talked about in popular culture by people who have no idea where they come from and no idea what these things mean and no idea how antithetical they are to biblical Christianity."

Church you can't make this stuff up, even if you tired, so now Jim Bakker the victim of all of the believers he defrauded of millions in donations. Jim Bakker was sent to jail for fraud of his own doing & all the News Stations reported on it. He was convicted by a jury of 24 counts of fraud and conspiracy in 1989, and sentenced to 45 years in prison for having bilked his followers out of hundreds of millions of dollars that went to fund his extravagant lifestyle. His sentence was reduced on appeal, and he got out of prison five years later. Church according to the Catholic church's own law a priest cannot deny anyone a sacrament, so why are they trying to deny President Biden? When did it become up to a priest to judge who is worthy? that’s not their role. This is totally wrong. Biden is the president and it is God, not Biden or the church who can change people's minds. Church what always baffles me about things like this is why we never consider spiritual apostasy and lethargy? Why must it always be the fault of the church that Millennials (and Gen Z) are absent? No mistaking about it this generation was disciplined by the world. They are far more humanistic than any previous generation in history. They tend to be pluralistic if not downright syncretistic. That number is down 435,632 members since 2019 and 2.3 million from 2006 when the Southern Baptist Convention reached 16.3 million members.

Church how did Billy Graham become the most famous evangelist in America? Does he deserve blame for paving the way for the religious right and the trumpesters? Should he also be held accountable for allegedly allowing his tent revivals to be used as recruiting and breeding grounds for white supremacy and white nationalism?  How should we see his place in America’s political and spiritual history? After Billy Graham got burned by Nixon, he did a better job staying out of politics. Unfortunately, today’s conservative evangelical leaders, including Franklin Graham, have foolishly tied themselves to immoral and ungodly men like Trump, thereby ruining their Christian testimony.  Anyhow The PBS series “American Experience” explores these questions in a fascinating two-hour documentary premiering Monday (May 17), offering an authoritative look at Graham’s life and ministry, from his beginnings as a dairy farmer’s son from Charlotte, North Carolina, to his death in February 2018 at age 99.

When Paul was writing to the Corinthians, he warned them about being "carnal minded" when they begin to tell one another that they are followers of Paul, Apollo's, Cephas, etc. Paul made it very clear that those who preach the gospel are only servants that the Lord used to draw them to Himself. Many Christians today identify their faith with a denomination or a type of doctrine, for example, when you say you are "reformed," you are not following Jesus you are following Reformation. It was a joy to observe her burst onto the National scene and then blossom into worldwide acclaim. At the start of every year, she and I would rejoice over the number of souls she had won to the Lord during the previous year. Church Russell D. Moore is no stranger to this blog you can read about it here . The Russell Moore story today is not surprising at all. I feel like the SBC has had it out for him.  Russell D. Moore is president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. Early in the year, Moore got a lot of online pushback, after calling for the idiot in the White House to step down. Christianity Today just announced the hiring of Russell Moore to serve as a full-time public theologian for the publication and to lead a new Public Theology Project. I'm glad to see that Christianity Today is standing on the right side of history bringing on an anti-Trumper. Any white evangelical Christian who will criticize the idiot who just left the white house will have to resign.

Church here we go again, another pastor stepping out of line. Junior Augustin, a 34-year-old Florida evangelist, was arrested for assaulting a teen girl who babysat his children while their mother was away for two months. The girl is his goddaughter. The girl had stayed at Augustin’s home in January and February, but her mother noticed problems when the girl came back home in March. When the mother searched the girl’s phone, she found nude photos and romantic messages the two had exchanged via Whatsapp and Telegram. Augustin worked at Solid Rock the Seven Day Church, a congregation in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Representatives of the church confronted Augustin about the charges in two meetings which were recorded, as were all church meetings. He voluntarily confessed to preying on the teen girl but claimed she had initiated sex with him while he was partially asleep. He claimed he thought he was having sex with his wife. Church some folks online feel that Israel is in the wrong here....and they are ashamed of Senator Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., who also pastors the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta....for saying that Israel has a right to “defend its innocent citizens” amid escalating violence with Hamas in the Gaza Strip that has already left scores of victims, including women and children dead. They are murdering innocent children and trying to force Palestinians out of the homes they have lived in for hundreds of years. Truly disgusting behavior on their part given the travesty they lived through with the nazis. How can they turn around and treat their neighbors this way? Shameful.

Church kudos to Prince Harry for making the choice not to continue in the footsteps of his ancestors and pass on those same curses to his children, with great diligence, you can end those curses over your life and future. You get to decide if the generational curse continues or ends. Harry, smart move.  In an interview, last Thursday Harry told "Armchair Expert" podcast host Dax Shephard that while he did not blame his father, he had resolved to avoid making the same mistakes with his own children. Prince Harry said he moved to the United States, to "Break the Cycle of Family Pain And Suffering ." The remarks come in the wake of Harry and Meghan's television interview last month with Oprah Winfrey, in which they raised allegations of racism in the royal family, and said that his father had cut them off financially.

Church the church where many prominent leaders in the city of Atlanta attend, one being Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has announced at 43 years old he is retiring from pastoring. The Rev. Olu Brown of Fulton County’s prominent Impact Church announced on Sunday that he plans to retire as lead pastor. His retirement from the progressive church takes effect in June 2022. Brown, a native of Lufkin, Texas, said he is leaving to pursue entrepreneurial and consulting opportunities full time with churches, businesses, and nonprofits. Brown, 43, founded the Sylvan Road church in East Point 14 years ago with an initial 25 “Impacters.” Currently, Impact has a weekly attendance of 5,000. “This is not the end of Impact Church, it’s just a transition of leadership,” he said.

In November 2020, five states approved marijuana legalization measures, including Mississippi, which became the first Southern state to approve medical marijuana. Now, 36 states have legalized it for medicinal purposes, including 15 states that have fully legalized adult marijuana use, according to CNN. Among Protestant pastors, however, few believe marijuana use should be legal nationwide. According to a study from Nashville-based Lifeway Research, fewer than 1 in 5 pastors (18%) say it should be legalized throughout the country for any purpose. Church, folks always saying one can't work in Hollywood and also be a Christian, it is obvious using this young lady as a prime example, that's not true.  I love this young lady. She played in Tyler Perry's movie Daddy girls. She left Hollywood she was a part of a well-known tv show, but the video she made explaining her departure was powerful. She explained how God was dealing with her, and that she is to do his will, and that she was leaving the tv show. I have mad respect for her. Very intelligent young lady.  We try to put God in a human-size box. When the Bible says everything was created in six days, they weren't six human days. They were six God days.   Church I'll have a hard time in believing in a man of God, who undoubtedly said that marriage is sacred and then leaves his wife. That's just trifling. His lying prophecy would get him capital punishment in Bible times. I think his continued support of a man who is no longer president is a sign of his mental health. According to an online source, evangelical pastor Jeff Jansen, a self-described "prophet," has been asked to step down from the ministry he co-founded and has chosen to leave his wife and family to "pursue his own desires," according to emails sent out this week by his ministry's leadership team and his wife. Church here we go again, another sad story. It seems like these stories never end. The wolves are alive and well in the visible church. Several former members of Bloomington’s Hope Presbyterian Church allege their pastor, Dan Herron, used his power in abusive ways. Some say he sexually harassed them, while others allege exploitation and intimidation, and according to an online source, their presbytery covering it up. Their stories allege that Herron groomed students and church members with touch and verbal intimidation. According to alleged survivor Kara Million, at least 10 people say they’ve been abused by Herron. The earliest accusations date to 2011. Million said that she and four others, including two women harassed by Herron, sent a letter to the Central Indiana Presbytery (CIP), demanding an investigation of Herron in 2019. Church, Liz Cheney can walk with her head held high, integrity in tact, and sleep well at night. She can wear this experience as a badge of honor. She will be ok. This is really an indictment on the GOP. The Republicans voted to remove a representative that voted with Trump over 95% of the time because she wouldn't lie about the election being fraudulent?? I think everyone should take great notice of this. She is being thrown out of her position because she insists on adherence to the truth. Think about that. Church this was a very good discussion Larry Reid had with Pastor Bryan Meadows last night on his platform. The response online to the conversation has been overwhelmingly good. I personally think Meadows is an edgy preacher who stands boldly in his views. 

Church this is so ignorant. It’s shocking how uncaring a pastor can be of his own flock. It's fine if they are the only ones getting infected but they are spreading it into the community and the community is who having to give them medical care. Church what I don’t understand is why professing Christians are afraid to confess the sin of racism when we know that we can be forgiven and healed?  The reality that America is still a racist country is one that Martin Luther King Jr. intimately knew, and it is a reality that cost him his life. Church I would like to thank Tyler Perry for an awesome viral post.  My mom and dad died some years ago, one in 2012 and one in 2002 although I attended their internment plot once, to see the stone marker we had made for them, I’ve not been back. I know where they are, in the loving arms of our Savior. I miss them so much but my love for them is in my heart, not at a gravesite.   

Church, in my opinion, prophets in the Bible DID NOT get it wrong, not if they spoke from God. The only prophets who got it wrong were  FALSE PROPHETS . Not one time in the Bible does a prophet of God apologies for getting it wrong, nor get together with others to develop a plan to cover their behind just in case they get it wrong again. One false prophecy and you’re a false prophet, that's according to the BIBLE. That’s all the “prophetic standard” needs to say. What they are saying is that a prophet can get it wrong and still be a recognizable prophet from God. Church here we go again, another pastor been accused of messing with a child, that's according to the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office, a church pastor is facing sex charges with a child. Moses Drafts, 47, of Batesburg, was arrested Thursday and charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, officials at the Greenwood County Detention Center said. Deputies released an incident report Friday in the case from April 21 that was filed by a teen and her mother but did not release the name of the church where the girl said Drafts was her pastor. In the report, the teen told a deputy she had a consensual sexual relationship with Drafts for years and had already filed a report with the Greenwood Police Department. She told police the relationship started when she was 15 years old and continued until she was 18, according to the report. Now I can state categorically that tattoos are in no way endorsed by the bible and God. To begin with, in the ancient world and probably today, tattoos were associated with witchcraft, paganism, demonism, mysticism, and more. Getting a tattoo for a dead relative or close person was probably the most common reason for getting a tattoo at that particular time. But the people of Israel understood the essence of that command, and that's why non of them had any markings of any sort.  

  Church this is a wonderful development at Saddleback Church. The idea that men and women are created differently, in ways that complement each other, sounds okay. But often, this "equal but different" thinking results in a hierarchy that can lead to distortions of truth or even emotional and physical abuse. I remember when this man was executed; I remember signing a petition supporting the Innocence Project’s request for an emergency stay to allow DNA testing. If that stay had been granted, Ledell Lee would be alive and exonerated. Ledell Lee was executed by lethal injection in Arkansas in 2017. Four years later, new DNA testing revealed that genetic material on the murder weapon — which was never previously tested — in fact, belongs to another man, lawyers said.  If this were a civilized godly nation, the story of Ledell Lee would be on the lips of every American who claims to love justice, and the death penalty would be no more. But America has never been godly civilized. In fact, it was founded on savagery and barbarity....and it's maintained by those same things today. This story is heartbreaking. Church 80-year-old Aaron Neville announced via social media yesterday that he was giving up touring. We all come to this realization at some point in our lives. Just keep in mind that music lives on forever. His great songs will live in our hearts & minds for the rest of our lives (& future generations). Thank you so much, Aaron, your music is part of my most memorable times growing up. Your voice and your music bring inspiration, comfort, and stirring to my soul. I love his recordings of "I Shall Be Released," "Amazing Grace," "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and most of all his rendition of a James Cleveland song, I stood on the banks of Jordan.
