Botham Jean, A Young Man Of Faith And Living His Dream In Dallas.

Online congregation pictured above is the young praise and worship leader that was killed by a white Dallas female police officer. Botham Shem Jean was a Saint Lucian native, a devout servant of the church and ambitious PricewaterhouseCoopers employee.  Why are people and "news outlets" stating she went to the wrong apartment.  She went into someone's home unannounced and killed them.  If I do that its breaking and entering and murder. I'm looking for words like suspect, subject of the investigation, killer. The officer shot and killed the 26-year-old on Thursday night after the officer allegedly entered the victim’s apartment and mistook it for her own, according to police. This whole story smells of foul play.

What Are You All Thoughts?

  1. I just do not understand how someone can "mistakenly" gain access into an apartment that isn't theirs. Was his door unlocked? did she have a key? was she drunk? How was this possible? This story wreaks of foul play and missing information. At this point, it's just a sickening shame that a black man was in his own home minding his own business, not being a threat in any way to anyone, and a white police officer still manages to kill him.

    1. The fact is a uniformed police officer went into a man’s home after her shift without warrant and shot a man to death. In Dallas TX USA. NO good reason for this.

  2. I don't know if I'm more offended that she shot an innocent man or the fact that she actually wants someone to believe this story. If she actually thought she was in her apartment then she was clearly "high as a kite" like my granddaddy says.

    1. I agree with you! I do recall that I had an outdoor party and one of my guests walked into my next door neighbor's house accidentally. The differences; My guest was not familiar with my house and neighborhood; My neighbor's were home with their door open (only their screen door was closed because it was a warm evening); and my guest had drank quite a bit! Everybody laughed off the mistake.

But, here we have an officer who just left duty, (whose key did not work in the LOCK...duh!), who shot a young man dead who UNLOCKED and opened his own door! This officer wasn't even on the correct floor! There's more to this murder. Either it runs the line of a lover's quarrel, or the officer was on drugs, or worse. But, bottom line this is murder. And, if the officer wants to stick with her story then let her but she needs to reap the consequences of murdering an innocent man.

  3. Ms. Ann, this is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. There’s always more to the story aside from the “statement” we receive from law enforcement. Yes, we pray for the family and loved ones, now that what’s done is done. But at what point does the root of this become acknowledged and addressed? YES, EVEN in the Church! It’s a moot point if all we can do is offer prayers once we find ourselves at the effect of these specific situations. I just can’t with this..

  4. This is SAD! But let's not forget what happened in CHICAGO recently when an outbreak of fire killed 12 people and injured 62 people. All this over a single weekend.

    2. What does one have to do with other? Police officers take an oath to protect and serve, so when they blatantly commit murder, it should be national news. I'm not sure how you figure gunfire in Chicago is relevant to irresponsible and murderous cops across the nation.

    3. Sweep it under the rug all you want. Murder is murder. And ALL who commits such crime is IRRESPONSIBLE!!!

I bet you never even heard of a Pastor named Ira Acree. He is the Pastor of St. John Bible Church on the west side of Chicago. Pastor Acre is an anti-violence activist who vehemently protest and speaks out against violence in that city. I bet NIKE will never choose him to be one of their faces and pad his pocket like they did Kapernick's. All Kapernick did was kneel, raise a fist, and made a few public appearances, which I'm quite sure he got paid for. Kapernick was already a well paid athlete anyways, and yet the devil decided to reward him with more. Pastor Ira Acree fights hard often and does not receive a dime for his efforts.

We only get sparse news in the media about Chicago. We get very little to almost no news at all about cities whose murder rate is worse than Chicago - black on black crime. Most of this gets practically ignored, or when it's reported, it's done so to label all black men as KILLERS. Yet...you get some police killings of a few black, and all hell break loose, and people like you get all emotional, you refuse to see the forest from the trees.

  5. You should be ashamed of yourself for trying to deflect from what happened here!! This post isn't about Chicago or murders in general. It's about another COP violating the civil rights of another INNOCENT black man and taking his life. These are the people who's sole job is to protect the innocent. The carelessness and blatant disregard for our lives from law enforcement is heinous, reprehensible, and VERY different from the statistics you're trying to muddy up this story with.

  6. The media should change the headline of this story.

    It shouldn’t be,
“ cop walks into wrong apartment and shoots man”

    it should read,
    “Cop murders neighbor”.

So are we suppose to believe the officer just WALKED into the wrong apartment. Didn’t noticed her key didn’t work or nothing in the apartment was hers?

There is A LOT MORE to this story.

  8. This just gets worse;

"Dallas officer who killed neighbor in wrong apartment said he ignored her verbal commands

David Armstrong of the Texas Rangers wrote that officer Amber Guyger said she inserted her key into the door, and it opened because it had been slightly ajar. Guyger said the apartment was completely dark and she thought a burglar was inside her home when she noticed a large silhouette across the room, he wrote.

Guyger drew her handgun, gave verbal commands that were ignored and fired her weapon twice, striking 26-year-old Botham Jean once in the torso...."

    I'm not buying this....

    1. There is (I suppose) a grass root organization out there called "Mothers Against Police Brutality". Its founder is Collette Flanagan, co-founders Sara Mokuria and John Fullinwider. I'm not sure if this organization, like many other BLACK Civil Rights organization, is a front organization. Anyways, these folks seem to be grass root, and are on the ground fighting in lots of cases where police manslaughted / murdered Black Folks. Even with this case -

"Mothers Against Police Brutality and Lee Merritt, the attorney for the Jean family, had called for the officer’s “swift arrest” in a September 8, 2018 news conference. “We are calling for justice…It’s unacceptable,” said the group’s leader. “This is an unacceptable way for Dallas to represent itself to the world. This is an opportunity for the city to be transparent and take swift and immediate actions to correct the wrongs.”

Where is Kap? Where is NIKE? To be fair however, I noted on their website, Mothers Against Police Brutality thanked Kap for his support, giving them a whopping $10,000. Kap's networth is $20M despite the fact he missed the last two years playing in the NFL. But here is the kicker. On their site is a video of SNOOP DOG. Snoop said in the VIDEO he took pride in matching Kap's donation, also giving this organization a whopping $10,000. Snoop's networth is $135 million, according to GOOGLE. And of course NIKE, whose sales just increased 31% donated NADA! YUP...zero dollars and zero cents. And BLAKE and HIS COGIC matched NIKE's DONATION. LOL...

If any is seeking justice in this world by the people in this world, IT AIN"T going to happen. Even the "GREAT DR. KING" and all he supposedly done amounted to what? Some say we are better off. Other say we are worse off. With justice, the scales are ALWAYS balance as God, who is the ONLY JUST ONE, lets us know.

We better focus more on serving Him. He has made it possible each of us individually to serve Him. He did so in such a way, He doesn't need our filthy rags. As Paul said, his education, his religious privileges, his status, his clout, he considered ALL BUT DUNG, when he met Jesus and knew HIM in His righteousness and realized JUSTICE and JUSTIFICATION is ONLY by FAITH in HIM, by HIM and through HIM!

    2. And...it is ONLY in Him is there truly "JUSTICE for ALL"...

So, you feel that it is within your right to tell others what to do with and how they should spend their own money? And, in addition to that, you feel that it is within your right to tell them how much of their own money that they should donate? Interesting...

I don't believe it's fair to conflate that with corporate actions. With many corporations it's an entirely different process and procedure that is outlined regarding its corporate donation programs. You don't know what NIKE has done in the past, are doing now, or will do in the future. In fact, it could be argued that NIKE is doing a lot by allocating resources that brings this issue to the forefront. The Company could have used its advertising dollars elsewhere.

" Even the "GREAT DR. KING" and all he supposedly done amounted to what?..."

And, you REALLY have to ask that? REALLY?

    1. Let's not twist it NUMB NUMB...I have a right to state my opinion, as even you suggest you fight for people to do so.

In my opinion, the with money KAP and SNOOP make, for them to only give $10,000 each to this organization, Mothers Against Police Brutality" is CHEAP, STINGY, CROOKED and EVIL. Even when you watch SNOOP in the video, he appears to be cringing with embarrassment. So you can go fly a kite, your lame reply to say "INTERESTING"!!!

For someone who claim to be educated, you don't come across as SMART. The point I was making about Dr. KING was even all HE did, He did not achieve JUSTICE for all. When evaluating the Civil Right Movement, some say we've progressed, other say we've NOT! FACT!!! You will never get JUSTICE for all through KING, MALCOM, JESSE, DOUGLASS, TUBMAN, and not even little ole YOU, even if you combine all ya'll TOGETHER. It is ONLY in Him will there ever be true "JUSTICE for ALL".

I never said I know what NIKE did in the past or is doing NOW. And as you would have some here believe you are soooo educated...NEITHER DO YOU!!! I know when I went to the WEBSITE, ""Mothers Against Police Brutality", they mentioned NOTHING about NIKE donating a DIME! WHY million-dollar man KAP and not them?

NIKE is a billion-dollar company that have benefited tremendously off BLACK FOLKS buying and killing each other over its products, and all you can say is "The Company could have used its advertising dollars elsewhere"? Well...could've, would've should've.

NIKE has always been strategic when duping Black folks (like YOU). All they have to do is use a Colin Kaepernick (who himself is not BLACK, but bi-racial), pay him off, spend their $10.00 on advertising to make Black folks think they stand alongside them. And in true form, all these House NEGROS (no disrespect Ms. ANN) will find a way to their FRONT DOOR. And all while this is happening, they will gladly take in a nice little 31% increase in sale.

    2. "I never said I know what NIKE did in the past or is doing NOW. And as you would have some here believe you are soooo educated...NEITHER DO YOU!!!..."

Sure, I do. Or rather I have a sense of how much the Company has given in the past and even the names of some charities too. Let me help you...

"The sportswear giant on Monday hosted a gathering of community leaders to preview a report on its history of charitable work. In the last five years alone, Nike has given $45 million in cash and $4 million in merchandise to local organizations.-- May 23, 2017

The Company also has a formal process for any charity to apply for grants--The Nike Community Impact Fund https://communityimpact.nike.com/ The following link is a sampling of just some organizations (along with amounts) that the Company has awarded recent grants to.

      https://sgbonline.com/nike-community-impact-fund-awards-250000-to-nonprofits-schools/

"Mothers Against Police Brutality" is a relatively new organization. Given Kaepernick's association with NIKE, (and his Million Dollar Pledge,” which aims to raise $1 million for different charities that support oppressed communities), it still an open item if NIKE will contribute to that charity either through Kaepernick's auspices or directly on its own.

Once again, if you are interested in learning exactly who the Company has awarded grants to, along with amounts, then I would think you will find your answers by contacting the Company directly.

I believe that you are naive in your thinking in believing that it is one human body that will bring about justice for all. "Justice for all" is a goal, (or concept), that everyone works towards each and every day. For you, (or for anyone else), to say that we as Black people have not made progress is disingenuous. For goodness sake! We've elected our first Black president. Let's not forget the many other firsts that we have achieved of which now some people take many of those achievements for granted.

      I written this once but it bears reiterating;

You're in Georgia, and I think that we are about to experience another great leap for our community that is just as important as the election and successful Administration of President Barack Obama! I don't want to get ahead of myself but here's a little something to think about; Alexander Stephens (born February 11, 1812 – March 4, 1883) was not only the Vice President of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War, but he was also the Governor of the great State of Georgia from November 4, 1882-March 4, 1883. Georgia is right now on the cusp of electing its first Black and female Governor.... Stacey Abrams! WOWEE! Then throw in Andrew Gillum of Florida and Ben Jealous of Maryland, and we have 3 BLACK individuals who have very credible shots at becoming Governors of what were once States of the Confederacy! While we still have a way to go, and there is more work that needs to be done, these are HUGE steps! Also, these steps are not just "one-offs" but are slowly becoming the norm.

    4. You are correct... Mothers Against Police Brutality is a new organization, but they've existed before KAP kneeled and raise his fist. And No, I'm not interested in learning who NIKE give grants to. I did however checked the Mothers Against Police Brutality website to note who their "PARTNERS" were, and to no surprise to me, NIKE was not one of them.

If the goal is justice for all, it will never happen here on earth. I'm a Christian. I believe the BIBLE. This earth will pass away because of sin and injustice. The Lord the GREAT JUDGE will come back to make a new heaven and a new earth. And we who are His will reign under HIS throne perfectly and forever!
