Has The Black Church and Social Media "Lynched Pastor John Gray"??

Lord have mercy online congregation, so Pastor Travis Green and others in the Gospel music community has started a "#ISUPPORTJOHNGRAY" hashtag. So I'm thinking they started this campaign on Tuesday, so clearly it's for PR. In all honest and without any malicious in my heart what so ever, Pastor John and the other pastors just made a bad move.

After watching this powerful message from Dr. Bernice King, Facebook live Sunday, I stand by my original thought, Pastor John made a bad move. Dr. Bernice says some very important and powerful things in her live we all need to consider and hear. She did not bash the pastors for being at the table, but she did point out the fact that they did not accomplish anything by being at the table. "It's not just sitting at the table, but what you say while there..." - Paraphrasing Ms. Bernice King. Word's of wisdom regarding that meeting all of it is meat, but at approximately 12:47 the gemstone is dropped on us.
 Check it out.

Anyway back to my original thought, some people on social media are now trying to say that black people have lynched Pastor John Gray for being at the table with 45.  Now I get that we black, or whatever, but I don't think we need to be throwing around the term.... "lynched" all loosely.

This is in no way a lynching. Just because black people are commenting on Pastor Gray and the other pastors for choosing to meet with an openly white supremacist president does not qualify as a "lynching."

  3. #IsupportJohnGray was started by Carl Lentz.

All this anger about John meeting with the President is much to do about nothing. You people need to grow up. He was invited to the White House for his opinion on a matter and he did just that. Some of you so called Christians are displaying the same behaiour you accuse other of.

And Bernice, go take several seats!

  4. DDJ I had said I wasn’t going to say anything else about this. U must live under a rock if u haven’t heard all the racist things trump has said an things he’s done. John didn’t give his opinion about anything. All any of them did was grin an sing Trump song how great he is. John knew like the others it was a slap in our faces. Kierra supports John because she’s young. What has she suffered. John hasn’t suffered anything. Whatever he’s going thru it’s because first he said God sent him. If that was true he would have been able to do more than grin shake trumps hand an supposedly pray. We just don’t want anymore kool aid

  5. The problem is that these pastors keep trying to act on the behalf of black people without our concent or approval. These pastors are NOT elected officials and are completely out of line. That meeting accomplished absolutely nothing and made them all look like weak and incompetent leaders. This is the reason why people are upset. Trump needs to meet with strong blacks who will take him to task on real policy issues and not sit there and nod in agreement with the crap that falls out his mouth. These pastors need to start staying in their lane or risk severe backlash. The church is already loosing its clout. Gone are the days where any old hooping and hollering idiot can climb on a soap box and rally black folks behind them. We’re now more educated and are demanding a high quality representation.

    1. WHO ARE THESE BLACK PREACHERS AND ENTERNAINERS REPRESENTING. NOT ME NOR 98% OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY NOR THE MULTIRACIAL COMMUNITIES. YES I AM A REPUBLICAN, YES I AM MULTIRACIAL AND EDUCATED. I DIDN'T VOTE FOR TRUMP. AND HE IS A NARCISSIST AND MANIPULATOR AND THIEF LIAR AND RACIST. ALL THOSE PASTORS THAT WENT TO MEET WITH TRUMP. WENT FOR THEMSELVES AND WHAT THEY COULD GET FOR THEMSELVES. THEY CAN'T TAKE THE BACKLASH. JOHN GRAY DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH RESPECT FOR HIS OWN BLACK QUEEN WIFE .SHE TOLD HIM NOT TO GO. I AM SURE SHE PRAYED AND FASTED BEFORE SHE TOLD HIM. BUT HIS PRIDE GOT IN THE WAY. PRIDE COMES BEFORE A FALL . I PERSONALLY WOULDN'T SUPPORT ANY PASTOR OR MINISTRY THAT SUPPORTS THAT FOOLISHNESS. BISHOP BLAKE MADE DARREL HINES WRITE A LETTER .TO STATE THAT HE WAS REPRESENTED HIMSELF AND NOT CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST IN ANY MATTER CONCERNING TRUMP AND THE MEETING. IT IS ON THE COGIC FACEBOOK PAGE.

    2. You're absolutely correct about why these pastors actually went. However, it was inferred that these "influential" pastors were somehow representatives for the African American community. The fact that the Trump administration reached out to them to discuss prison reform gave them false credibility to act on behalf of the community. If Trump wants to discuss prison reform, he can speak to the elected officials in the districts and counties that are grossly affected by an overly aggressive justice system that's biased against young black men.

  8. Lest we forget, The Lord Jesus said "judge nor lest ye be judged" This refers to hypocritical judgement for we all have made mistakes. Believe me I am no Trump apologist, but how did we fare as a people the previous 8 years? Not very well. Now everyone calls the man racist yet he reached out to the so called black political leaders in Congress, and what did they do? Nothing. What did the previous president do about prison reform? Again nothing. And even if he is racist who's to say we can't work together? We need to pump the braked slow down and think. Most of the time as a people WE are our own worst enemy!

    1. "....how did we fare as a people the previous 8 years? Not very well. "--Clearly you don't know the Obama record. Do you sincerely believe that Black unemployment miraculously fell on January 20, 2017? President Barack Obama cut Black unemployment in half, from 16.8 percent to 7.8 percent during his administration. Under Trump’s administration thus far, the black unemployment rate has fallen just one point, from 7.8 percent to 6.8 percent. That minority graduation (high school and colleges) significantly increased on that date? The access to healthcare? On and on... As for prison reform you REALLY have no idea about what happened under the Obama Administration (of which the Trump Administration fiercely rolled back) because the Obama Administration not only made significant prison reforms in the justice and penal systems but was extremely close on getting prison sentencing reform through. Jeff Sessions stopped all of that dead in its tracks. The ONLY reason that Trump is going full assault on the Black community is because he needs to up his favorability among Blacks (votes) in order to get re-elected. With all due respect, just do not listen only to the "talking heads" and look at the pretty pictures, but actually take the time to research, analyze the data (historic and present), and also really read the Trump proposals. The proposed "First Step Act" is nothing new. In fact, it has been substantially watered down from what the Obama Administration wanted to accomplish,

  9. I agree with Bernice, but my thing is why not invite experts or advocates who work on a daily basis on prison reform. Why invite these guys who not only aren't advocates, but some if not all of them don't have prison ministries within their churches. This goes to show that all leaders are not graced with wisdom. The bible says that if you want wisdom, ask God - so, somebody need to start asking before speaking............just my thoughts......
