Gospel Singers Question Lecrae’s Gospel Award After Distancing Himself From Christian Rap.

Reader since Lecrae doesn’t want to identify himself as a gospel rapper, some gospel musicians do not believe he should have accepted the BET Award for the Best Gospel/Inspirational Artist which he received Sunday.

Bishop Hezekiah Walker, the gospel singer who also heads the Love Fellowship Tabernacle in Brooklyn, New York, suggested on Instagram Tuesday some Christian rappers who could have accepted the BET Award since they all consider themselves to be gospel rappers.

“Hahz, Twyse, Da’Truth thank you for staying true to the Gospel as a Gospel Rapper. #BET Awards,” Walker’s infographic reads. “It’s ok not to be a true gospel artist but if NOT don’t accept the AWARD give it to those who are..” It seems Walker is not the only gospel music artist who feels that way, since gospel singer and Pastor Deitrick Haddon reposted the message to his own Instagram page. While Haddon did not elaborate on his post, his wife Dominique Haddon revealed why she agreed with her husband. "I 100% agree and approve this message!

We can’t use the vehicle of gospel to take us to our destination then act like the vehicle didn’t get you there because it isn’t cool or popular,” she wrote. “It wasn’t a good representation of Christian unity.” Lecrae, the 37-year-old rapper, has previously spoken out about not wanting to be given the title of a Christian rapper. In 2013, he responded to one person on Twitter who asked if he considers himself a Christian rapper.

"I am a Christian. I am a rapper. But Christian is my faith not my genre,” the rapper tweeted.

Earlier this year, Lecrae appeared on the WADE-O radio show where he spoke about wanting to make music for more than just church people.

"I believe some people make music for the church, and some people make music from the church to the world,” he said. “For me, I don’t want to exclusively for the church.”

Ms. Ann I know that little home wrecker didn't say that? Her adulterous husband used and rode the gospel vehicle to get where he's at today....alone with the cheating with her on his formal wife....so she doesn't have room to be talking.

    1. Geez, people, Adultery is wrong. However we are not in peoples house and we really do not know the truth of what went down. Even if we did, have the committed the unpardonable sin?

At the end of the day these awards are useless anyway. If there is an organization thats pimping black folk, its BET. You won't see that mess in my house.

    2. Ms. Sapp, how can you call the lady a home wrecker, when IT'S BEEN REPORTED TO ME, you are NOT married to Marvin. He publically denies you as his wife. Ms. Sapp, Please accept Jesus as YOUR LORD and Savior, before you die in your foolishness. Seek Him so YOU can be counseled by the saints to be exorcised of those demons inside. PLEASE Ms. Sapp. PLEASE!

  2. I expect nothing but a fruit of pettiness (LOL) from the black gospel music industry. All these musicians are nothing but entertainers anyways. It is only inevitable those swirling in Satan's black cloud will talk about AWARDS in trifling way like this, some trophy given to a rapper (worldly) for his blackened deeds.

Real Christians know the real rewards they will receive, and will await for the crowns the LORD Himself will give them - An Imperishable Crown – (1 Corinthians 9:24-25); A Crown of Rejoicing – (1 Thessalonians 2:19); A Crown of Righteousness – (2 Timothy 4:8); A Crown of Glory – (1 Peter 5:4) and The Crown of Life – (Revelation 2:10).

God's true musicians do not seek to receive awards from man just because they have put their talent on display. LaCrae doesn't identify himself as a gospel rapper (hallelujah, cause he aint one), and at least he has some sense to know his is not one. However, the Blind Bartimaeus' like Deitrick and Hez call themselves "gospel" artists, but their music hardly ever hints at the true message of the gospel. I've noticed, it always seems like "Bishop" Hez is always in the middle of this female type pettiness.

Aside from having the fruit of pettiness and foolishness, the spirit of jealousy raises its ugly head. Hez opted to throw shade trying to correct and rebuke. There is nothing SHADY about REAL REBUKE! If an artist is worldly and carnal, he will receive his worldly award given by the devil on the devil's platform (BET). Hez and Deitrick would have gladly walked to the podium to receive the prize built on sand, had their names were called. It's obvious, anyone with a little discernment can see the fruit of black gospel music are pettiness, jealous, emotionalism, artist worship, immodesty, homosexuality and sexual sins, deceit and manipulation, gatekeeping control, competition, lust, greed, carnality, ignorance, pride, etc.

    WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!

  3. Miss Ann,

Why should we care what Walker and Haddon say about Lecrae?

Walker, Haddon, Da'Truth and 'em all use the same audience to get paid. The "church" assumed Lecrae cared about the things of God, bought his albums and supported him in whichever kind of way. Believers in Christ who discerned him from the beginning sounded the trumpet from the watch tower (Ezekiel 33:3). But these were called haters. Now the "church" is disappointed by Lecrae's utterance (Ezekiel 33:5).

I am not surprised by Lecrae, he's signed up for greatness, and it has nothing to do with his faith in the Christ but everything to do with the glories of this world.

  4. I have THREE PROBLEMS with this.

1: other NON-gospel artists have received awards for inspirational songs and NO ONE even blinked twice about it
(Elvis Presley has a Grammy for his song "He touched me").

2: If James (Hot-water) Fortune, or Charles (butt naked) Jenkins had won the award, would they be equally upset. Because forget what type of artist they claim to be, they should be more concerned with the persons character.

3: If a Proclaim gospel artist were to win in another category would they NOT EXCEPT THE AWARD because they're not a true rapper, or country singer, or hard rocker. They would be praising God and doing tours.

    My advice:
Lacrae should put that Grammy on a shelf and let the haters hate.

  5. HOW CAN THE POT CALL THE CATTLE BLACK. NONE OF THOSE ARTISTS THAT ARE SLAMMING Lecrae HAVE ROOM TO TALK ABOUT ANYTHING OR ANYBODY. THEY ALL HAVE MUSIC THAT GOES BOTH WAYS. THAT'S PLAYED IN THE CHURCH AND DACLUB.HEZ HAD A RAP SONG WITH WARREN C AND OTHERS, DEITRICK ON REAL PREACHERS OF LA PLUS PLAYING CHURCH. AND HIS FIRST ALBUM MUSIC PLAYS IN DACLUB. THOSE 2 SISTAS JEALOUSLY AND ENVY ARE SOMETHING ELSE. WE ARE ALL SINNERS SAVED BY GRACE. SAINTS AND SINNERS. OH YEAH THAT'S PLAYED IN THE DACLUB. GET OVER IT FOLKS.

  6. As you all can tell, I've shorten my comments dramatically. haha.. With that said, overtime out of all I've said in the past is evidence of the foolishness that continues to go on in this so-called gospel music industry. It's a joke..smh.

  9. It’s no secret that a man’s ego has a powerful pull on him.

In fact this hardwired need to impress and to WIN is so deeply embedded into the male mind...

That nearly everything a man truly desires is based around this biological “drive” to prove, succeed and to win.

It’s why so many men become workaholics, gym junkies or become obsessed with their hobbies.

But what most women don’t know...

...is how deeply this “drive” is connected to his love, desire, and attraction for the woman in his life.

And I’m about to show you how you can “tap into” a man’s ege to refocus that same drive and gut level obsession...

...on pleasing you, romancing you, and proving his love for you like you’re his sole purpose in life.

Here’s how: ==> The “Go Ahead” Signal That Makes Him Obsessed With Winning Your Love

    Mr Gix

P.S. When you tap into a man’s ego this way, you can cause him to literally become obsessed with proving his love for you. So please don’t use this on a man unless you are ready for something serious.

    Thanks again.
