Minister Think American Girl New Doll Is 'A Trick Of The Enemy'????

Reader, me think this "pastor" needs to focus his attention elsewhere, don't you think?  In the 60s they never thought that GI Joe would take off because boys had never played with "dolls".. Shortly after their release, they were sold out, and production had to go into full swing.  It lasted many years until the cost to manufacture the doll became too much. Historically American Girl stuff has been pretty well made and the accessories are top notch. If a kid (boy or girl) wants a boy American Girl doll, I have a hard time believing he isn't going to be an "emasculated male."

  1. Miss Ann,

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them..." (Exodus 20:4-7).

The problem is not the male doll for the young boys. It is that for ages doll making has been going on and nobody, not even this pastor raised this issue. Many women have grown up in fantasy world, playing house with dolls and thinking that this is what life is all about. Little girls holding on to these images, pretending to have tea, speaking to them and none of the parents had any sense not to buy these idols for the children.

Now we have a generation of young ladies living in "lalaland" because they cannot differentiate between fantasy and reality.

So this minister should talk against all forms of doll making not just because it was a girly thing to have a doll and not suitable for boys.

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall NOT want...

  2. I wonder could this has to do with some of the beliefs of the "Bible Belt" region such as it is against their beliefs to have toys, models, and certain statutes in your house.

  3. Um, American Girl has had Bitty Babies twins that are a boy and a girl for years. Maybe learning the facts would help before people go crazy. There's nothing wrong with a boy playing with a doll. Learning to nurture and care for people is not gender specific aspect of life. Dolls can help with teach children about caring for others and caring for children when they get married and start their own family. In many home economics classes the boys and girls are required to make a 'baby' out of materials and care for the baby. They also have computerized babies that cry, wet themselves, have to be babysat like a real child and the inner computer registers how well you've treated them while in your care. That is a good way to teach teens responsibility.
