Bishop Eddie Long Has Moved, From Time Unto Eternity, Were Time No Longer Matter!!

Reader, let's be in prayer for Bishop Long's family and church.  Bishop Eddie L. Long who was the Senior Pastor of The New Birth Missionary Baptist Church has died. The Church has released this Statement: New Birth Missionary Baptist Church celebrates the life and legacy of Bishop Eddie L. Long who is now spiritually healed and home with the Lord. Bishop Long, Senior Pastor of New Birth, transitioned from this life early Sunday morning after a gallant private fight with an aggressive form of cancer.

Praying for Bishop Long family and the New Birth Church family.

  1. Prayers to his family and the New Birth church family. Say what you will about Bishop Long, but losing a pastor is a painful thing to deal with.

    1. Mike I do not subscribe to the don't speak ill of the dead. If you did wrong to people while alive, you should not suddenly let everything just pass. He preyed on those who looked up to him. And I am positive it wasn't just boyz. There are many women in churches who try to get to passa and I a positive e saints in his church are no different.

  2. WOW. I hope he repented before he died. I shouldn't be shocked. Wow. I hope it's a lesson for all preachers. If the Bishop was guilty...NEVER thumb your nose at God while practicing adultery or sexual perversion.

His wife maybe should get tested.

  3. This is so tragic.

I will be praying for his followers and family.

  4. I will be frank, I have a real issue with church leadership who act in a manner that demeans the position and responsibility. Still, I don't know whether this man repented. I don't know if he sought forgiveness of the Lord. I have so many opinions about him in light of what has been reported but do I really know the truth? Likely not.

I feel the most sadness for his family. I can understand their position as humans we often love family in spite of their many faults and shortcomings. Because we know/see them in a way that is different from how non-familial persons see them, we tend to overlook faults, failures and countless mistakes of our family members.

The only scripture that comes to my mind in this moment is Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

In this social media age in which we live where all have an opportunity to speak on many things, I hope that his family receives the kind of comfort and peace that only Father, Son and Holy Ghost can give.

  5. Miss Ann,

It is sad that Eddie Long has died (condolences to his family and congregation). We who were on the sidelines and watched some of his last videos, knew that there was something wrong with his body system, and it would not be possible for him to suddenly pull through and bounce back to his once well built self. The sadder part is that his congregation believed his every word. He avoided telling the truth to his dying day. All we have from news reports is that he had “an aggressive form of cancer” and that he was taking a holistic approach to his wellness including going vegan.

However, there is still hope for those who believe on the name of Jesus. The New Birth church members need to be set free from the cult of this man for it is for freedom that Christ came to set us free (Galatians 5:1). They need to understand why God curses those who trust in mortal man and blesses those who trust in him (Jeremiah 17:5). It doesn’t matter who your pastor or bishop is, it is Christ who is LORD for he CANNOT be divided (1 Corinthians 1:12 - 13). I encourage them and everyone who believes on the Name that is above all (Philippians 2:9 - 11), to return to the one true bishop and shepherd of our souls (1 Peter 2:25). He is the Good Shepherd, who laid down his life for our salvation (John 10:11). Our savior declared that all things will pass away but his WORD will not pass away (Matthew 24:25). Let us hold on to him, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), for he is faithful and his WORD is TRUE (John 17:17).

    God bless!

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall NOT want...

  6. Hello all. Here in the Atlanta area, yes, we found out early on about this. My prayers to the family of their lost. No matter what the loss of a love one is painful. My one hope is that this church and so many others would stop this cultish like thought process amongst the body within ministry. This, "don't question, do as you're told, and even fear and intimidation" has got to stop!! As a musician... in my past of what I've witnessed, I'm so tired of this mess. Whether your title is Bishop, Elder, Minister, lay-member, whatever.... we have to yes, honor and respect each other but not worship each other and the talents/gifts of that individual. We also within the church, I'll say it, sin has consequences. I'm talking about myself also and everyone reading this. That's just a fact. Not a put down on anyone, it's just truth. Again, I pray for the family for their loss. And also that the members of New Birth and individuals I personally know that attend this church wake up.
