VaShawn Mitchell New Album Secret Place Has A International Sound That Will Change This Generation!!!

Reader, "He's never too far away . He'll meet you in the secret place . There's no need to worry everything will be alright you're under the shadow of the almighty God". Those are lyrics off of VaShawn Mitchell new album. VaShawn Mitchell isn't making album sales and Billboard chart placement a priority with his seventh album, Secret Place.

The six-time Stellar Award and two-time Dove Award-winning singer and producer is focused on obeying a call from God to release an international sound with his new album that was recorded during a worship experience in South Africa. "I believe that in the music industry this album, this body of work, this message, as long as it's released to the world internationally, I will have accomplished what it is God wants me to," Mitchell told The Christian Post.

  1. What exactly is an "international sound"? We shouldn't just accept things just because it is spoken from a position of talent. PSALMS, HYMNS, and spiritual songs, making melody in our hearts.

Here are his words to his most famed song "Nobody Greater":

I climbed up to the highest mountain
I looked all around, couldn't find nobody
Way down into the deepest valley
Looked all around down there, couldn't find nobody
I went across the deep blue sea
Couldn't find one to compare to your grace your love your mercy
Nobody greater nobody greater than you
Searched all over couldn't find nobody
I looked high and low still couldn't find nobody
Nobody greater, nobody greater no, no nobody greater than you
Searched all over couldn't find nobody
I looked high and low still couldn't find nobody
Nobody greater, nobody greater, no nobody greater than you
Nobody can heal like you can
Oh most holy one you are the great I am
Awesome in all your ways and mighty is your hand
You are He who carried out redemption's plan
You are He who carried out redemption's plan
Searched all over couldn't find nobody
I looked high and low still couldn't find nobody
Nobody greater, nobody greater Jesus, nobody greater than you
(Searched all over) Searched all over couldn't find nobody
I looked high and low still couldn't find nobody
Nobody greater, 'body greater, no nobody greater than yo
Nobody greater, nobody greater Jesus, nobody greater than you
(Nobody greater) Nobody greater, nobody greater no, nobody greater than you
(Nobody greater) Nobody greater, (couldn't find nobody) nobody greater (nobody greater than you), nobody greater than you
(Nobody greater) Nobody greater, nobody greater, nobody greater than you
    Nobody greater than you eh
Nobody greater (no), nobody greater ('body greater), nobody greater than you
(Nobody greater) Nobody greater, nobody greater, nobody greater than you
Nobody greater, nobody greater, (nobody greater) nobody greater than you
(Nobody greater) Nobody greater, nobody greater (nobody greater), nobody greater than you

I mean this SONG is so banal. All that repeating..."nobody greater". It's said that in music, “When a word or phrase is repeated over and over, after just a few repetitions, those words lose their meaning and become just sounds." This type effect can drive people into an alter state of consciousness, making them very open to suggestion. No wonder a lot of these false teachers use certain musicians to open up their audience to their unbiblical teachings.

NOW, the lyrics of a song entitled "Secret Place", however not by this artist, of course:

This is one of my favorite songs written by Ron Hamilton. A link to his music
    website is: www.majestymusic.com Enjoy!

    Verse 1

    I've found a secret place

    of comfort and release;

    A special place of healing,

    a quiet place of peace.

    And everyone who dwells there

    finds rest beneath God's wings.

In the shade of His pavilion

    new strength he always breathes.

    Chorus

I find hope; I find grace.

Far away from the world's embrace.

    He gives me rest, He keeps me safe;

I find His strength; I seek His face

    In the secret place.

    Verse 2

    In every trial He brings

my Lord will make a way

    To comfort and protect me;

to help me face each day.

He leads me through the valley

    to draw me closer still,

    Knowing even in the shadows

    I find His perfect will.

  2. Yup. It wasn't long before the "GOH" troll found a way to slam a positive, uplifting post. Anything that doesn't fit into some people's personal viewpoint, might get slammed.

I googled Ron Hamilton, whom you commend, and I found EXACTLY the same thing you criticized VaShawn Mitchell about.
    ======================
    Ron Hamilton, A servant's heart, 1987

Make me a servant like you, dear Lord,
    Living for others each day
    Humble and meek,
    Helping the weak,
Loving in all that I say.

Give me, Lord, a servant's heart
Here's my life, take every part.
Give me, Lord, a servant's heart.
Help me draw so close to You
That Your love comes shining through
Give me, Lord, a servant's heart,
Give me, Lord, a servant's heart.

Make me a witness like You, dear Lord,
Showing the love of the cross,
Sharing Your Word till all have heard,
    Serving whatever the cost.

Give me, Lord, a servant's heart
Here's my life, take every part.
Give me, Lord, a servant's heart.
Help me draw so close to You
That Your love comes shining through
Give me, Lord, a servant's heart,
Give me, Lord, a servant's heart.

Those are uplifting lyrics from Ron Hamilton...JUST LIKE VaShawn's lyrics..."Nobody greater than you." Jesus is Who VaShawn is talking about.

It's okay when Ron Hamilton does it, but when VaShawn does it, then he's "banal" and using subliminal messages?! Gimme a break.

I hate to say this, but I wonder if some people love to pick apart anything that is different from what they grew up with. I may not like African music per se, but many dirt-poor Africans that are Christians ARE praising God, and I'm talking about the God of Abraham. If The LORD God accepts their praise, then me and GOH (Get Outta Here) need to hush.

  3. Note Ms Ann, the name calling that "Get OUTTA HERE troll"...LOL...THIS salty Anonymous individual decides he wants to shed more heat than light. I commented only on the context of the post. This individual chose to go in left field, talking about people picking apart what they grew up with. Smh...

Anyways, if THIS INDIVIDual can't see Vashawn lyrics the trite repetitive nobody greater nobody greater, how he looked nobody greater nobody greater...AND THE SONG MAKE ME A SERVANT WHERE there is a plea the Lord to bend our hearts to be servants for Him, so we show the love of the cross, evangelize to all at any cost, the difference, I suggest he asks the Lord to REMOVE THE SCALES FROM his eyes, and GIVE HIM A SERVANTS HEART...NO need to throw it out there the LORD accepting their praise to imply You know He does...and keep in mind, the lyrics are only part of what makes up a song...GET OUTTA HERE!!!

  4. Unless a song says Jesus or God specifically then it's not about Jesus or God. Say the name. Case closed.

  5. Miss Ann,

Let’s be honest. Every “Gospel artist” who is unveiled to the world as having a new sound or introduced to the world as award winning has signed a contract. The bottom line is they have to do the bidding of the recording company to bring in $ale$. I do not care if they are singing something “positive”, as long as they have sold out, they are not in position to live according to the precepts of God. Watch their fruit instead (Matthew 7:16 – 20 [I digress, but remember how Kirk Franklin started out as “Humble Hearts”, then became “Kirk Franklin and the family”? And now he is just Kirk Franklin who has lost his religion and does not want to be judged]). Don’t be quick to buy their records because the sound is nice. We shouldn’t be fooled and sow to flesh (Galatians 6:8). Let us as believers purpose to live according to God’s word and not be blown about by this wind of “international sound” (Ephesians 4:14).

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall NOT want...

    1. You hit the nail on the head. Thats was why I posed the question about this "international"sound.

It seems with through some "mystical" experience, this dude described this "sound" as international, I guess because his music was done live on a foriegn continent (Africa). This is pure folly, and for this guy to concoct such an imagination encourages me to admonish God's word in 2 Corinthians 10:5 "casting down all imaginations, and everything that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God...

    2. Amen Anonymous,

That reminds me. I once watched an interview of Darlene Zschech (formerly of Hillsong Australia). She spoke of how she had teamed up with other international Gospel artists from around the world for some album (can't remember the name). One of these artists was Israel Houghton.

Back to my point: she stated that they stayed in Scotland at some old castle where they were "seeking" God while composing songs for this "special album". And this was like for a month! That kind of threw me off. Why would believers in the LORD Jesus go to such a place that is not of God (we have read history and watched movies of what goes on in those ancient places). But when you mentioned "mystical", I remembered.

Well fast forward, the fruit is she is now singing for the Pope and Houghton is divorced, soon to be married with a baby mama on the side.

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall NOT want...

    3. LOL...You are indeed a breath of fresh air...

Darlene Zschech and Israel Houghton were, at one time, affiliated with Integrity Music. Not sure if they still are.

Integrity is one of the "gatekeepers" of Contemporary Christian Music, and many of their artists purpose to spread this "international" sound all over the world. I’m gathering more this “international sound” is about bringing all the Christian faith together, regardless of the different churches stance for true biblical doctrine and standards .

Ms. Darlene herself said “I’ve been in the Catholic Church, in the United Church, the Anglican Church, and in many other churches, and when worship is offered in truth, this sound emerges-regardless of the style. It’s the sound of the human heart connecting with its Maker”.

This music is very ecumenical in nature.
