Alright Now: Pregnant and Unwed NYC Pastor Says She Refuses to Be Shamed Out of the Pulpit!

Reader, Pastor Desiree Allen says she won't stop preaching despite her pregnancy. I don't know why people are still shocked that saved singles have sex. Yell it's forcation but, most the kids in children's church come from single parent homes. Should this woman sit down? I don't think so.  Heck, she already had sex. Maybe it was a "slip up" who knows. We don't know the story. Let God be her judge.

A Harlem, New York pastor Desiree Allen went public with her pregnancy and refused to stop preaching as a result of it, many commended her. Allen points out that male pastors often get women pregnant, but can continue to preach because their indiscretion can be hidden.

Do you agree?

  1. Instead of being concerned about man's judgment, she'd better be concerned about God's judgment. And for any who would make this a man vs woman argument, DON'T!!! This article oak about this woman ONLY.

    2. This is what is wrong with Modern Day Church --new set of rules. Nobody is trying to shame her, but within yourself -don't stand up there like you can over-ride GOD. Somebody asked the question:what does it say to our young people? They already see a circus of actors on Sunday and Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday and Friday and Saturday. Wonder why the Church is not taken seriously any more and much power has been handed over to wrong doing and thinking..

    4. We have so many ingrained prejudices, rooted in our understanding of religion, that we refuse to recognize. When it comes down to it, the same women who would condemn this female pastor, would likely praise and support a male pastor (Jamal Bryant,Deitrick Haddon, Jay Moss,etc....) who got into the same situation.

    5. Nope...She did not get caught. SHE GOT PREGNANT!!!

And I knew some would cry double standard. I don't know what planet you are living on "Double STANDARD Anonymous, but there are many who oppose Jamaal Bryant. And no need to talk about support of a male Pastor, Betty Sue. I'm quite sure they'll be many like you and Mr. Drive By, who will support her as well.

  2. Miss Ann & Get Outta Here,

From the demo "Bishop" Jones made, it is evident that the men at the pulpit live worse than the sheep they lead. They sin blatantly and don't want to be judged. Ever!!! (They are the anointed of God).

Well, this is fine by me. I don't belong to their churches anymore. The sad part though is that the spirit of the shepherds gets onto the sheep and the fat cattle take advantage of the weak (Ezekiel 34). And the sin cycle continues. Pastor Allen is a product of that vicious cycle, unfortunately.

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall NOT want...

She's living in rebellion. That's her life's purpose. She learned it from her church and she's passing it on to the "sheeple" she oversees.

  3. Ms. Ann, I don't care that she's pregnant out of wedlock or refusing to step down! I do care about the judgement and shaming of many congregation members who make choices or mistakes and are often forced to leave the church rather than deal with the repercussions. Personally I think anywhere that professes to be in the name of God, should be a place of compassion, understanding and refuge.

It's wrong, nobody is condemning her , but she cannot stand up there before the people when she is in a Leadership position. On the other hand- Modern Day has a new set of rules, standards and expectations.

    3. This is another biblically unsound opinion the bible clearly says to admonish (warn or reprimand someone firmly) one another.

Romans 15:14 - And concerning you, my brethren, I myself also am convinced that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able also to admonish one another.

Colossians 3:16 - Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Luke 17:3 - "Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

1 Thessalonians 5:14 - We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
2 Thessalonians 3:15 - Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

Hebrews 10:25 - Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching.

      Paul admonished the brethren

Acts 20:31 - "Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears.

1 Corinthians 4:14 - I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.

Colossians 1:28 - We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.

      Ephesians 5:11
      Verse Concepts
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

      Proverbs 24:25
      Verse Concepts
But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.

      2 Timothy 4:2
      Verse Concepts
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

      1 Timothy 5:20
      Verse Concepts
Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

    4. We admonish in love. Our words should minister grace to the hearers but we should correct in love. To just pray and not to warn shows a lack of brotherly love. The only time we should not reprove is: Proverbs 9:8 - Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

Other scriptures on reproof (reproof implies an often kindly intent to correct a fault; a rebuke suggests a sharp or stern reproof)

2 Timothy 4:2 - Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Proverbs 9:8 - Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

Proverbs 13:18 - Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.

Proverbs 15:31 - The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.

Proverbs 27:5 - Open rebuke is better than secret love.

Proverbs 15:32 - He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding

  4. 1 Corinthians 5:12, What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? When David sinned, killing Bathsheba's husband, and impregnating her, Nathan went to David. I'm sure David felt exposed, yet he didn't storm off, he wasn't arrogant, he when he had sinned and there would be a price to pay for such.

Nowadays though, when someone speaks to us about our sin, we become defensive and feel we're being judged when it could be God working through someone to get your attention, or simply a friend keeping it 100%. Should she sit down, yes. In reading the article, she came off prideful, arrogant, unapologetic. No you don't have to feel sorry forever, but you must remember the mantle you chose when you said yes to the call.

You must remember that despite WHAT YOU THINK, the Bible still speaks of a standard. The issue with Christianity is people want to be their own Christ, they twist the word, they omit certain words, but if your Bible says "God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.." ( Numbers 23:19), then the Christian God has not changed, therefore why do Christians think their God condones their modern day sin? If you feel remorse about your sin, sit down. If you care about your congregation, lead by example, and sit down. Sin is sin is sin is sin, and to see so called Christians making light of it while simultaneously trying to save souls is sad. The church no longer rebukes sin...puffed up prideful passive arrogant unrepentant Christians...aka The Lukewarm Church.

  6. Bro. Ira, Man, I am so glad that I fear the judgement of God and His RIGHTEOUSNESS to allow the Holy Spirit to control my FLESH and spirit. How in the world could ANY born again Christian say this type of character is "A Slip up".... REALLY?? Those that believe "OH, IT HAPPENS"..you need to repent and submit yourself to letting God FILL you with HIS Spirit. YES, it does happen, HOWEVER, YOU'RE STILL IN SIN...MAN OR WOMAN....PERIOD!! I tell you what, IF, my Pastor (being married) got another woman pregnant, I would GET UP OUTTA THERE...FAST (say whatever you want). I don't play the game. God and HIS TRUE CHURCH deserves to be treated with HOLINESS. Bryant, Houghton(?), Long, and many of the others (including women) WILL be held accountable. You can deceive yourself if you want to. BUT, "As for me and my house (family) WE WILL SERVE THE LORD". When will the church wake up and LIVE RIGHT (HOLY)? Such a MESS!! In Christ Alone, RLR.

    1. Amen RLR,
Apostle Paul said the following Ephesians 5:25-27 - 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Jesus is coming back for an unblemished church not one that is full of sin and is proudly flaunting this sin. Man Brother RLR have you noticed how many people acecpt the unrepentant sin of people in the church bu using the don't judge?` As COGIC Bishop quoted 1 Cornithinas 5:12 we should judge those who profess to be in the body of Christ. Jesus told us to judge righteous judgement, which is according to the scripture and the action of a person and not according what you think or a person being a hipocrite doing the same behavior that they are judging others.

Man my heart grieves for people because they are so blinded and biblically illiterate. We are truly seeing at an accelerated rate the Great Falling Away and it is moving a breakneck speed.

But as you quoted RLR - Joshua 24:15 - 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

  7. This woman is an apostate, and I don't normally call anyone things such as this. If you looked at her website and read the story she quoted Rob Bell (enough said) then looking further on her website she had an article titled "Reconsidering Hell" where she discusses a theory that heaven or hell is "malleable". "In short, our very acts are creating our future spaces. While I have no clue what an after death/transcendental heaven or hell looks like I do know what it’s like to experience personal heaven or hell in this life. Moments so blissful there seemed nothing better or so low hell didn’t seem scary, because I was living it." If hell might be the worst situtaiton you could find yourself in here on earth and a concept that all goes to heaven but depending on how you live your life.

This teaching is so unbilical that if you have any spiritual discerment you see that she is an apostate and her teachings do not align wiuth the word of God.

She also said this in another article "A relationship with God or a higher inner power has been a literal life saver." - New age teachning at its best

She is the Associate Pastor at First Corinthian Baptist Church (FCBC) in Harlem.- Ironically remember the church at Corinth and their issue with sexual sin amongst others. Also, Paul instructed them on how to deal with someone in sin.

Other characteristics she noted about herself:
    - Tired of being defined by her title. - She makes sure that she notes all her titles
    - So over being defined by her outfits. - Yet does not quote scripture on how the bible says to dress
    - Wanted to break free from societal norms that did not speak to her. - Sounds good because we are to separated from the world but she said "norms that did not speak to her" does that mean if the norm spoke wo her she would be ok - how about Love not the workd neither things in the world

    - Realized she wasn’t alone. - Great recognition - But God has never left us alone, Jesus said Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

    - Ready for the journey to begin. - Where is God in any of this?

So to hear her being prideful and unrepentant is not a surprise: the following is one of her comments
"With the exception of living a pretty much celibate lifestyle in my twenties I had been having sex on and off since I was 15 and had never been pregnant. In fact, I assumed when I was ready it would be very hard for me to conceive. Boy did I miscalculate that."

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Listen to a few verses of the Bible: (these are just a few and any preacher or leader that's guilty of violating Scripture are disqualified and need to sit down or be sat down.)

"Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous." Hebrews 13:4

"You are doing the works your father did.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father—even God.” Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me." John 8:41-42

"Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." Galatians 5:19-21

If a pastor (normally used out of context in the denominations) is sinning don't justify it rebuke him and if he and the church defends him leave.
