Petition Started To Include Clarence Thomas In National African American Museum!!

Reader the National Museum of African American History and Culture's purpose is to showcase the accomplishments of African Americans and to honor those who paved the way for others to follow. One might say that uncle clarence has earned his rightful place of absolute disdain in the hearts and minds of most Black Americans. I'm torn however about the decision to totally exclude him from even the smallest and most insignificant of honorable mentions in the museum. What say ye'?

A petition has been started on StandUnited.org for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who they believed was snubbed by the newly opened National Museum of African American History and Culture. There is no mention of Thomas at the museum (except for footage of Anita Hill testifying against him at his confirmation hearings).

Some are running to his defense, but the museum is standing their ground, justifying his exclusion. It is no secret that Justice Thomas is quite conservative, but his supporters do not think this should be the difference between him being included in the museum. In addition to being the second Black Supreme Court Justice ever, he is the longest-serving Black Supreme Court Justice in the history of the United States.

Thoughts?

  1. Clarence Thomas doesn't deserve a place in that museum, he's NOT the first Black justice, and certainly hasn't done a damn thing worth remembering.

  2. Being a justice is an amazing feat for a black person & history will remember him for participating in landmark court decisions that changed the course of history in America. I personally do not like him, nor care much about his views or stances on a lot of issues, but he does deserve a place in that museum. Hitler's Mein Kampf is in a museum in Germany even though Germany herself has looked to put behind the Holocaust & her fascist history!

  4. regardless of his politics, he SHOULD be included this will show the world and generations to come that Af Am are NOT monolithic ppl but we can have a liberal like Jesse Jackson and an ultra conservative like Clarence Thomas within our race and it does not diminish who we are as a people. Omitting Justice Thomas is a throwback to the days when blacks denied membership into fraternities, sororities and other groups based on pedigree and skin complexion. While i DISAGREE with most of his decsions, I still believe that my children and grandchildren should be educated about the second black man to serve on the highest court of the land. We are BETTER than this LET HIM IN!

Don't let him in! The only black Supreme Court Justice that should be in that museum is Thurgood Marshall Clarence Thomas has done nothing to improve the black community nothing absolutely nothing the only place he belongs on the outside looking in.

  5. This is why we can't have a revolution... we're the only race that welcome back with open arms our traders. No matter what so called back leaders do to show us they don't have our best interest at heart, we give them a pass because they have the same skin color...

  6. If they can include Obama in the Museum, as he has done completely nothing for the black man, then they can include Uncle Tom Thomas.
