Sad, To See Another Church Close It Doors Because Of Financial Problems and Predatory Lending Practices By A Bank.

Image
Reader according to research, on an average day in the United States, nine churches close their doors for good. This isn’t often talked about, partly because it’s not exactly breaking news. Church professionals know the trends: church membership and religious affiliation are declining. Relatively few churches are growing. It’s particularly hard to talk about your own church’s demise. It’s not easy to say what sometimes needs to be said: “It’s time for our church to close.”

Religious leaders in Bridgeport announced last Saturday that one of the biggest churches in the city was shutting down this past week.  Parish officials say the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit on Union Avenue is in foreclosure and the bank will take possession of the building. According to former Bishop Kenneth Moale's wife, the church is in need of $150,000 by this past Monday to keep the bank from foreclosing on the church.

Pastor Jamal Bryant Church Joins Colin Kaepernick's Protest By Sitting During National Anthem!

Reader, The Christian Post want to know is it appropriate for Pastor Jamal Bryant to encourage members of  his Church to sit during national anthem like NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick?

"Pastor Jamal Bryant is going above and beyond to show his support for NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick by not only wearing his jersey during a sermon on Sunday but also by encouraging his entire congregation to remain seated during the national anthem. Bryant, the pastor of Empowerment Temple AME Church in Baltimore, Maryland, said yesterday that he approves of the San Francisco 49ers’ backup quarterback’s protest after he announced two weeks ago that he plans to sit during every performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at NFL games to represent “people that are being oppressed.” On Sunday, Bryant shared a photo of himself wearing Kaepernick’s jersey on Instagram before revealing that he and his congregation would be joining the professional athlete’s protest by sitting down while the national anthem was played during the service"

  1. Miss Ann,

Christians are to be separate from the world. "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." 1 John 2:15.

His congregation has to individually discern between the things of God and the things of the world. "Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2

  2. So thankful that some Christians realize that our Lord and Savior modeled for us not only to pray, but to speak up and challenge the system. Jesus and the disciples were apart of a movement. Let's make our father proud by not being passive or complacent, but follow his example of making a change for the lost, cast out, and down trodden.

    3. Christ didn't call us to be copycats. Jamal should of all people know better than to conform just because defying the national anthem has taken social media by storm. Why would a grown man claiming to be sent by God get a Sunday message from a non-believer?

Acting like there's been a sudden revelation of what the verses in the anthem actually entail. SMH.

If he was an immigrant, maybe...

    4. EXACTLY! Now everybody on this ridiculous bandwagon like they don't even like the National Anthem now. smh. Look, I know America got a bad past and has much healing to do, but I got on the Internet and ventured out to see what's going on over in Europe. Ya'll think Trump language towards minorities is bad?! In Sweden and Germany.. they have totally turned over saying out of their mouths without fear, "Get the migrants out!!" It's a Trip. Can ya'll imagine where ever you live, the nearest Interstate, for me I-20 in ATL, migrants running on the hwy trying to hop in your car or jump into transfer trucks?! It's off the chain over there, so with that said, I'm still glad I'm here in America. Sorry.

  4. Cop is issuing an arrest warrant for Jamal Bryant.
    The charges, impersonating a pastor.

    1. Is it normal for churches to play the National anthem before church service?

    2. If you're only playing the anthem because you want to take a knee, then you are going above and beyond protesting. Now your just down right rude.

    3. Jamal should be showing "support" for his child, in the form of actual CHILD SUPPORT. Kaepernik doesn't need your support as much as YOUR CHILD DOES.

    4. Jamal Bryant is a straight up ATTENTION WHORE.
If he's not in the spot light, he is scheming for a way to get in the spot light.

    My advice.
    Step down from the pulpit
(Because you are no longer serving for Gods best interest)
Send the jersey to your newest child,
    Pay your child support,
    And wear a condom.

    1. Thank you Cop. Accurate, truthful and funny. Bryant should have a seat and remain seated from pastoring.

  5. While I stand with Kaepernick on this issue, I don't have to call a press conference to voice my stance.

  6. Jamal. Dude, really? With the fist in the air? Smh. Okay, back in Jesus day when he was up against the gov't as mentioned, he went up against the Pharisees who were basically the Freemasons of that day and said this in Matt 23:27-Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Is Jamal saying this to the people and the demonic gov't entities that control it? Also is Jamal telling the one's that control the system about hell like Jesus did? He warned, “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28). And in Matt 22:37-38; Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. Is he saying this to the gov’t and now he’s all of a sudden trying to make some kinda stand against America with Kaep. Jamal and some many others gotta understand that fussing, screaming, changing the flag, the anthem, marching and shaking their fist at the system ain't gone change nothing. We are at the end of days, period, and we're being thrown by satan who is the "god" of this world into absolute chaos and it’s gonna get worse. As told in Matt 24. We’ve heard for yrs and yrs, “Child, we living in the last days.” And now Christians are clueless as to what’s going on, smh. The best thing Jamal can do is repent before the people (if all of what I've read of his past is true), take that stupid jersey off cause 49ers ain't going to no Super Bowl, lol, and declare who God really is and prepare the saints for what's to come because this foolishness that he's doing is all for naught.

  7. All these "Christians" getting behind a Muslim and their agenda? Isn't Kap newly converted to Islam? Isn't he dating an Islamic woman who since he has been dating her has switched up from Christ to Mohammed? Is anything I just stated true? Make sure yall do some research before supporting someone who hates Christ.

    1. And what's wrong with being a Muslim? As Christ followers we are call to love everybody, that mean Muslim,Jew,Hindu, and everybody in between.

    2. Yep. You are correct. That is exactly what was reported. But you know what Big Chri$? The excuse that will be given in supporting him will be, "Hey, we all for the same "cause" to go up against the "system." And then, they supporters will feel in their hearts a validated instead of keeping their eyes in that Word. Matt 24:13 But he that shall ENDURE unto the end, the same shall be saved.

    3. Yes we are to love everyone. I completely and totally agree, but we must give them the Word also, Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

  8. So Jamal Bryant is going to play the National Anthem in church just so he can sit down? What an ignorant, attention seeking thing to do. He needs to sit down for good out of the pulpit and stop being a deadbeat dad. I guess he has not really read the Bible. God will not be mocked! I am so sick of this pretend preacher who is more interested in publicity that preaching the word of God. Boy, bye!

    1. Totally agree Anonymous. What I've seen as a keyboardist and within ministry before the Lord led me where I am now (Thank you Jesus), behind closed doors is that ministers create this aura of invincibility which therefore transfers to the people. And what I mean by that is, it is the people in the congregation and outside the congregation that enables these jokers to get away with what they do. No one will step forward. There's intimidation, threats... it's so demonic. From all 4 corners of the earth, the Lord sees the church and it's a total mess. I promise you, but HOWEVER, there is a remnant church that will rise and is rising that will not stand for sin and foolishness in the church see in the eyes of men and behind closed doors. God bless you.
