How Come Women Are Told To Wait On The Lord For A Godly Man, But Men Are Praised For Doing The Opposite?

Reader,  I read a very interesting Facebook post by Dr. Alexis Carlion Maston. She makes a good argument about the double standard for men and women in the church. Christian women, are told to marry a Godly man but then you have these preachers, worship leaders out here, marrying entertainers who songs, movies, etc. don't represent a woman of Godly character. It does leave a lot of women feeling slighted because it's like you can't win even when you're doing the "right" thing.

I too was a little shocked when I found out Israel Houghton was dating Adrienne but didn't give it a whole lot of thought.  The point is most women in the church house are told to wait for a Godly man to find her but while they are in the church waiting, the men of God are looking at everyone but them.  As she said, it's like a slap in the face.

I honestly don't think the intent here was to be judgemental. I feel what she was saying and I have been wondering the same thing. And no, we don't know the whole story, but why does this seem to be happening more and more? Can we talk about it? This topic may only appeal to singles and that's really okay. Should Christian men be held to the same standard as Christian women when it comes to a mate? Is it different for them?

  1. I agree..... however we cant be concerned with what men choose to do. God says we can all be a light. It's about choosing wisely. Don't let the church folk keep you single with ridiculous expectations.

I will say that its true that men are looking elsewhere, especially if the are between the ages of 22-40. Lol lol. So ladies in the church are left with men old enough to be their daddy lol. Dont fret. Gods got you!! :)

    1. I agree there is definitely a double standard. A christian man can marry any woman saved or not and it wouldn't be frowned upon. A christian women would get bashed or wrote off as desperate for marrying "down".

    2. Amazed, a TRUE man of God, should want a woman who's been living as he is...A lady. Someone who's been obedient to the scriptures. Not some tramp anyone can take home from the club. He wants someone to edify him spiritually. When they marry harlots, it truly means they have been backsliding or are not who they profess to be. Israel, Devon, Detrick, Russell and ect. if you look at the women they chose for wives will say alot about them as being godly men.

    3. @Anonymous.... You are so right!!! How can two walk unless they agree, so something inside of them agree with these women that they are dating and marrying!!!!

  2. Miss Ann, as Christians we are held at the same standard. If we love him [Jesus], we will keep his commandments (John 14:15). We need to have an understanding of the times like the children of Issachar (1 Chronicles 12:32). Today’s “men of God” are blatantly “fornicating and going after strange flesh” (Jude 1:7). Should we be shocked? No! “They were never of us...” (1 John 2:19). Instead we should “look to the hills from whence cometh our help... the LORD” (Psalm 121), and trust God instead of man lest we be cursed (Jeremiah 17:5).

  4. She should not have used this example with Israel Houghton to form her conclusion. So are we considering him to be a godly man just because he sings well? That may be the problem right there. Stop making this a gender issue.

    1. I love the fact she used Israel Houghton, Devon Franklin, Russell Wilson, as an example. For one to stay anointed requires being obedience to God. I think perhaps the assumption is that this man is walking in the same relationship with God that he held previously, that cannot be -observing his choices. Therefore, the woman he has presently chosen, indicates his current level of relationship with The Lord. It's very sobering. We are all warned about the possibility to loose what we have gained in Christ, through decline of faith and Holiness. I did not even know who the woman was, one look at her Instagram it was clear he has either backslidden or was never in the place he professed. He needs prayer. Proverbs 5. Hebrews 5:12. Hebrews 2:1.

Lord have mercy history is repeating itself...in the days of Noah - the sons of God began to lust after "unsaved women"...and before you know there was a mess in the land.

  8. I want to think the young lady for calling this bull*hit out, I remember not long ago Le'andria Johnson name got dragged through the mud when she was pregnant out of wedlock. Now look at Pastor Jamal Harrison Bryant right now going through but still in the pulpit every Sunday. Yes there's a double standard.

  9. I don't get it... there nothing like talking with someone who knows where you are coming from. How can the unequally yoked person possibly hold you up spiritually? They don't understand that TRUST in the Lord...

  10. All points to this Topic are relevant the word reminds us "In all your getting to get understanding" But God will have the last say as we know it. It is our Duty though hard sometimes to Look at the Ministry Go's has called theme to never disregarding the Gift. We ourselves can easily fall short when we get to speaking in the Flesh on a Man or Woman of God that we cannot forget hopefully fasting & prayer went in to this decision between these couples that ignited, this subject, it all hurts is true But God only knows we are as scripture says " To work out our own Salvation with fear & trembling". That we ourselves may get it right something for all Godly Men & Women to take into consideration we are always being watched so Let Us Lead Holy...Amen

  11. I am going to say this and it may offend some but really this issue is out of all of our paygrades. First of all for the people who are saying let them be happy there is 4 people unspoken and unrepresented which is his ex wife who he claimed the Lord gave him and his three children dealing with this humiliation. Isreal isn't the first and he won't be the last to do this stuff to their families, churches and sadly to God. Pastors and other leaders have been doing this for years leaving their wives for some unsaved, half saved, and heathen folks. And we applaud that mess. Paula White did it so what's different. No one said anything about her. See Devon Franklin and the rest can write a book, do conferences and get the applause of man but the we don't know the other side of the story which is we don't know if God approved it or not. We can make God do anything or say anything that will suit our beliefs to do what we want. The Bible when it talks about the believer sanctifies his unsaved spouse is talking about someone who was already married not you going out then finding someone. God warned Solomon not to marry strange women meaning outside of his faith but he did so its no wonder he says its better to dwell on a rooftop than in the house with a brawling wife. That's his stupidity for disobeying God and marrying all those strange women who the Bible says "turned his heart from God". You all can grace talk, mercy talk, judge not talk all you want but the Bible clearly states "what business is it of mine to judge the world, God will do that but we can judge the character, integrity and lifestyle of other believers. So we can kumba yah this mess all we want but God will make the judgment that we can't see and they will have to endure the consequences of their fleshly choices. I mean sweet as pie Joel Osteen released him from his ministry duties so what does that say to you?? Again, God will have the last word and his word clearly states "do not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever" however to many "Christ" is a buzz word. everyone is a Christian but it will show in your life, behavior and choices. You shall know them by their fruit. I won't live deceived nor will I make God's Word a lie or tell God that His Word is not true. Stand against His commandments by calling Him ancient as if He doesn't know what is best for us. He gives us choices but our choices we make without him can damage our lives. I feel sorry for all of them because when it all plays out the real truth will show. I wouldn't give up the peace, joy and presence of God for one piece of flesh. No one is worth me grieving him.

  12. Ok ok.... ya'll. Ive thought about this more. I remember when i forst cane to Christ. I was wearing the same type of clothing and doing the same types of things. I had to let God do the work in me to get to where i am in Him now. I had to "put off" the old man. Believe me it was a process and still is. Thankfully i had older, wiser women in the church that loves me through certain things rather than bash me through it. We have to be careful about throwing stones and acting all self righteous. Some ofnus "look" the part and are doing heathen things lol. All im saying is lets not be to hard on the men. Maybe they helped bring those women closer to God. Who are we to say where each individual lady is with their walk with Christ.

  13. Too much to say, Lol. I'll be short as I can. Now before someone says I'm being male chauvinstic or hatin' on women, plz. I've heard of women even calling Paul, yes Paul that wrote half the Bible, a chauvinist. I'll say it,the woman is one of if not God's greatest creation, lol, period. When God created woman, she completed the man to be side by side with him and be his biggest cheerleader. Not just from appearance, but this is how the Lord's original creation intended for human life to come into this world. Well, satan is jackin' everything up now. To specifically answer the 1st part of the question, women are told to wait because of scripture. Prov 18:22; Whosoever findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord. And I don't wanna hear nothing from the LGBT churches that say the opposite. IT'S TALKING ABOUT A MAN FINDING HIS FEMALE WIFE. And also in Matt 19:5; And said, For this cause shall a MAN leave father & mother, and shall cleave to his wife; & they twain shall be one flesh? Now, I saw the words "Godly Men" and Men of God. Are these truly men of God we must ask. NO, I don't give them a pass. Yes, on the surface it seems as if the men are praised. Not in my book. The Word of God. It's just as nasty if a woman is fornicating & running around from man to man as the same as a man fornicating running around from woman to woman and committing adultery. My wife will tell all ladies, as hard as it is, wait. She married me when she was 40. She nearly gave up. She told me she even threw her Bible up against the wall of her apartment asking God, what is wrong with her!!?! Because all the dudes that she ran into IN THE CHURCH, was wanting one thing. You know what that is. Well, my wife, STOPPED LOOKING FOR THE MAN SHE DESIRED. AGAIN, SHE STOPPED LOOKING. AND PRAYED FOR WHAT SHE WANTED IN THAT MAN. Well, she ran into me, lol. On our 1st date, when we got in the car after eating at a nice restaurant, she looked at me and ask, where we going now? (With a suspicious look on her face and that cute female smirk) I said to her, I'm taking you back to your apartment and I gotta get home cause there's church tomorrow. She nearly freaked out and later told me, she said within herself and her spirit, I'm looking at my husband. haha. At that time she was holding in tears when she got in her apartment and got on the phone with her blood sister, lol. Anyway sisters, these so-called men of God are living in the moment. Ms. Ann, that pic you posted says it all. Living in the fast lane limelight. Christians wanting to be superstars instead of recognizing the true superstar who is Jesus Christ King of Kings. Ladies, please don't get depressed or feel less than when you see this foolishness. Hold onto God and again, if you are looking for that man yourself, stop and keep you eyes on the Lord.

  14. I dont agree or disagree. But you can't use those relationship examples and place them in a box. In 2 of the examples the men came into the womens lives and started praying and worshipping together. They found they had equal interest in God. You dont know if these women prayed or felt yhis way prior to meeting these men. All you see is what they were before they changed. Seems hypocritical. Doesnt god forgive all?

  15. While I do believe church leaders are held to a higher standard, I struggle when women who have "pasts" are so criticized. After all, Rahab the prostitute is in the bloodline of Jesus.

Also, as I recall Megan Good saying she had been seeking God for herself before meeting her husband.

Lastly, I think too much emphasisbis placed on attire when plenty "appropriately dressed" church attendees are doing every thing they're big enough to do.

Anyway...I will close again with a mention of Rahab the prostitute in Jesus' bloodline.

  17. The question is how do they meet? Unless they running in the same circle. I think the Christian artist are trying so hard to fit into the secular entertainment world they don't see they are crossing over. Second question is, are they unequally yoked or crossed over. The Bible speak of how even during a time where the Holy Spirit is loudly speaking there would be those pull away by seductive spirits and false doctrine meaning calling things right when it clearly against the Word. There will be those claiming their works is of the Lord Matthew 7:23 we are in the in time be encourage Holy is still the only way compromise=crossing over=left behind

  20. Sad, sad, sad. When will people realize that satan is an ancient foe and he doesn't like us. His job is to kill, destroy and rob AND he's good at it. The problem is in this case is "presumptuous sin"... to really think you can't be touched by satan because of your status is a major "trip wire"....asked Solomon----man full of wisdom...ask Samson---man of Strength. ..ask King David-----known worshipper. The devil has no jokes with us.....he is out for blood waiting to accuse us before God! Stop falling for the okie doke SISTERS & BROTHERS (hips, breast and thighs) (triceps and biceps & penises ). I speak from experience.....it is not worth it! My life is an open book!

Pray for him! Pray for Adrienne Bailon! Pray for all!
