Sad, To See Another Church Close It Doors Because Of Financial Problems and Predatory Lending Practices By A Bank.

Reader according to research, on an average day in the United States, nine churches close their doors for good. This isn’t often talked about, partly because it’s not exactly breaking news. Church professionals know the trends: church membership and religious affiliation are declining. Relatively few churches are growing. It’s particularly hard to talk about your own church’s demise. It’s not easy to say what sometimes needs to be said: “It’s time for our church to close.”

Religious leaders in Bridgeport announced last Saturday that one of the biggest churches in the city was shutting down this past week.  Parish officials say the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit on Union Avenue is in foreclosure and the bank will take possession of the building. According to former Bishop Kenneth Moale's wife, the church is in need of $150,000 by this past Monday to keep the bank from foreclosing on the church.

COGIC Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake Talks God's Place In Black History!

Reader COGIC Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake has written a wonderful article for Christianity Today about God’s place in Black History. In the article  Bishop Blake talks about how crucial it is to continue to remember the years gone by, and all the ideas and events that have shaped the history of African Americans and our nation. And none is more important than this: the place of God in all of it.

  1. He did a good job with the article. Now if He can call on that same God who never changes, to root out some of the mess (homosexuality, money laundering, pedophilia, children out of wedlock, discrimination, holy rollin', drug and alcohol use, divorce and remarriage, etc) in his church, then things will line up. He probably got paid a nice piece of change by Christianity today. SORRY, no shortcuts with Jesus...

We need an Elder Carter video to keep us rooted and grounded...

  2. Christianity Today does not pay for articles. You must be an Earl Carter flunky - you're both ignorant!

    2. "Unknown", you chose to respond on a minimal part of my comment. And note, I said "he probably (key word) got paid a nice piece of change by Christianity today."

Instead of calling folks "ignorant", show some intelligence and respond to the major part of my comment - "rooting out some of the mess (homosexuality, money laundering, pedophilia, children out of wedlock, discrimination, holy rollin', drug and alcohol use, divorce and remarriage, etc) in his church, then things will line up".

If you can't respond here, how about "no shortcuts for Jesus"?

I'm willing to bet, most people who respond here one way or the other about Elder Carter, probably don't know or have not even met him. So to say someone's his flunky is outright insane and shows a lack of intelligence on your part.

      You need to remain "UNKNOWN"...
