Question Of The Day: Were RUTH & NAOMI Scheming Gold Diggers?

I have never, ever in all my years of hearing sermons preached from the book of RUTH, had I envisioned RUTH as a gold digger, until today. While during an article search for a post, the following showed up in my search results:
The TRUE story of RUTH & NAOMI really tells us about two DESPERATE & CONNIVING Gold Diggers plot to deceive a rich man into marriage! You won't believe your eyes when one reads each verse step by step! (An EYE OPENER!)
The blog post suggests at times pastors have ignored what the text says in order to create a teaching that is not true. And the real reason for Ruth, seeking Boaz was not about love, but security. If we are willing to truly read what the Bible says many of our preconceived notions about Ruth will be challenged. Do you agree?

The sexual interpretation of this episode reflects an inadequate understanding of Hebrew vocabulary and idiom, of the thematic development of the book of Ruth, and of ancient Israelite customs.

  2. (Ruth 3:3-4)This chapter is interesting to read and research. Many commentators agree that the threshing floor is known in the bible as a place of illicit liaison, and many commentators imply that "uncover his feet" had very little to do with feet, yet others (many of whom I trust) insist that the text says nothing went on between Boaz and Ruth other than what the text says. And what the text says is that after eating Boaz was sitting up and nodded off. Ruth snuck up to Boaz, curled up at his feet and uncovered them. He awoke and saw Ruth lying there and in Ruth 3:9 he asked who was there and she answered “I am Ruth your maid. So spread your covering over your maid, for you are a close relative.” All commentators agree that this is kind of a reverse proposal, she's asking him to ask her to marry him.

  3. In other words Boaz ended up with the land and a gold digger Ruth, whom he thought was pretty hot to begin with, and not long after she gave birth to a son whom they loved and Naomi really loved and dedicated her life to help raise. They named him Obed, and Obed grew up strong and healthy and had a son himself one day, and named that son Jesse. Jesse in turn had a bunch of sons, The youngest of which was David who became the greatest king in Israel's history. Ain't nothing wrong with being a gold digger.

    1. You are so disrespectful. God forgive u smh. She was NOT a gold digger. Shame on those who pervert scripture.

    2. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
This biblical account is teaching loyalty to loved ones, faithfulness to God and because of their love, loyalty, humility, submission to God and faithfulness. God used Naomi according to HIS plan to place Ruth in the lineage of our Savior Jesus Christ!

It is disgusting how someone could take this account and make it a sordid biblical version of Basketball Wives or some other profane filth church folks enjoy these days!

The Bible is clear about greed, lies, and lovers of money. This is not one of those illustrations. We ALWAYS see punishment or judgment where there is sin. These women were rewarded.

This is why we are to worship in spirit and truth! When we read the Word with natural, carnal eyes and no guidance from the Holy Ghost... This is what happens! Error. Lies are spread...the opposite of truth and obviously the Spirit isn't in it.

I wrote about this very thing yesterday. God Will hold accountable those who pervert His Word, teach lies about His Word, and even share what lies they've heard about His Word. It is a Holy living Word...not to be made light of. Not to be randomly thrown around and treated as a common thing. This is just flat out terrible teaching from demons and devils and it is foolish to entertain this garbage.

  4. You have go to be kidding me, right? *sigh* Really???

  5. Um...FYI...have y'all even read that site that this garbage originated from. This man is rampantly twisting scripture and there is enough error to throw a flag on the play! Lol...I would stay far from that mess! For him to claim he's a true Christian who loves God...he is sure going in on the Bible. He's using some of the same arguments that atheists use to tear down and discredit the Bible in his so called biblical teachings!!!

  6. If they were, they were not the type of trifling gold digging women of today.

    1. Haha, Anonymous that is a good one.

  7. It is entirely wrong! They were following a command given by God for young widows in Deuteronomy 25:5-10. Even the removal of sandals of the young man who refused to marry Ruth is based on the Bible verses in Deuteronomy 25:9,10.
