Lord have mercy, "NO TITHES NO FUNERAL" SAYS HOUSTON PASTOR. According to CFR a pastor out of Houston, Texas, is refusing to bury a woman who has been a member for 50 years, all because she  hadn't paid tithes recently. But as quite as it kept, the grandmother was in Hospice Care!

Update: The pastor's name who refuses to bury 93 year old grandmother, is Rev. Walter F. Houston and the name of his church  is the 4th Missionary Baptist Church, Houston TX.

  2. This tithing foolishness is a concept that has created a great big controversy inside and outside the church. This is the reason some people feel like tithing is a slick way for pastors and ministers to get rich. Now we got pastors who want bury folks because of a tithe. Shame!

  3. Tithing was done away with when Jesus arrived so.......this is not only unbiblical but petty and greedy as well smh...if this Pastor would like, I'd be happy to give a tenth of my crops in her place so she can have a proper burial lol

  4. I hope the rest of the church decides to stop paying tithes too. These pastors act like you personally owe them your tithes. These folks are nutts!!

    1. The spirit in me wants the remaining church members to stop tithing, pray for this pastor, and get him some serious Biblical education.

But the flesh in me just wants to pimp slap him.

    2. THE PROBLEM I SEE HERE IS, HE IS A PASTOR, NOT A PREACHER OF THE WORD OF GOD. THE TITHES ARENT HIS ANYWAYS, MAY GOD BLESS HIS SOULD WITH A GOOD OLD FASHIION OF HOLY GHOST SALVATION. PRAY HIM HIM BROTHERS AND SISTERS. AMEN

    3. I read these comments and I can tell there is not one person writing that know the rules and regulations of the church. Why is it that guidelines can be followed everywhere but in the church. The daughter of the 93 yr. old woman let her rage get the best of her and now the media is involved in foolishness. Even if she disagreed with the pastor why didn't she just move on and let the services be held at her church. I bet she made such a stink out of all of this because she doesn’t have a church home. Sinners need to stop trying to dip their noses in church business. Remember the Lord said touch not my anointed. OOPS, I bet the writers don't understand this either.

    4. As ad ex lay minister, Independent Baptist, ( currently EX due to this type of actions in churches I had out reach to this man needs to have done to him what I, I can state with out a doubt this "man" needs to have done to him, as I and others, have done to pastors, ministers and others in such a state.
During a stand up from the dues and call him out for his transgressions.
Let him, and God, know where you stand on his actions.
If he won't listen to you and others in his flock, then fire him.
It would be better for a young, well versed, bible knowing and bible believing to put forth the word of God rather than this charlatan.
( please, forgive my typing, I've been brought through more than 20 strokes and a dozen heart attacks )
Your congregation is in my heart and mind.

    5. Anonymous - I bet you ARE that pastor :D :D The church should be a place FOR sinners, but I guess with all your "rules and regulations" there's not time or space for them :) Please, read your bible!

  7. It sicken me to to see such BS like this, that why im 1 of those ppl that when i go to church im very ify about how much money i give. I know that its good to give for the up keep of the church. But not for a preacher and his wife to be stranding up there in a $300+ suit/dress not including their shoes pulling up in a their his/hers BMXor MERCEDES. Oh yea and lets not forget that BIG nice 4+ Bedroom home they have in that gated community. And neither working a fulltime job or have a business to justify that its more then just the church folk giving that support them. And the ppls like this Grandmother for 50+ year with probably limited income are the ones whom make sure they have that life style. SMH I hope that run his but out that church

  9. Just like there are fake/artificial flowers & Cubic Zirconias , there are fake/artificial Pastors/Leaders that God never called to lead at all. They`re main goal is not to save the lost & heal the sick, but to get into your bank account. "Ye shall know them by their fruits.....", ( St Mat 7:16 ). Why go beyond what the Master taught? That`s extra-Biblical to go outside of the teachings if Christ. We see nowhere in the Synoptic Gospels, where Jesus the Christ paid tithes or even taught the multitude or his own Disciples to pay any sort of Tithes. We are to give ( 11 Cor 9:7 ) but don't be intimidated Saints, by these wolves in Sheep`s clothing and Mercenary/ Hireling Preachers, who don't care anything about you or your family.

  12. So the church has come down to rules and regulation? How sad! We are all sinners asking for forgiveness from GOD, not man, every day. This is a shame and a scam for a preacher to suggest that a person's salvation lies in the hands of an old biblical activity. Jesus criticized the Pharisees not for tithing, but for treating tithing as more important than mercy, love, justice and faithfulness.

  13. The tithe is O.T. law.Its ashame how ministers lay such a burden of percentages across the necks of Christians. Now teaching the principle of the tithe is something else all together, but only as a principle not a command.Nowhere in the N.T. is the tithe mandated.Christians need to dig into scripture deeply an realize we are to be cheerful givers from the heart,we are under the covenant of grace. One of the problems is that the church has been fed so much spiritual junk food,it no longer has an appetite for true & sound biblical knowledge. The pulpit is one of the most important if not the most important places on earth,to stop the devolution of society and proclaim the beauty of Christ.Christian education begins in the pulpit. We have to many little boys playing marbles with the diamonds of God.With such a weak Gospel being proclaimed by Pastors who are ignorant of their own Bible this doesn’t suprise me.They need to be held accountable...If your church isn’t teaching the truth straight from the Bible, how will you recognize error when it comes? How will you grow? Don’t ever allow anyone to stand in the pulpit who isn’t committed to leading the congregation through a deep, penetrating study of God’s Word.

  14. This pastor's lack of love and compassion for this woman, for humanity, shows how much he has lost touch with what should be his purpose. Isn't he supposed to represent the love of God? How does he sleep? He not only harbors resentment, and doesn't know the meaning of forgiveness, but he lacks simple empathy for the family of this woman. In psychology, they call that sociopathic. Wasn't this woman a member of his church for 50 years!

  15. The individual who stated that others should stay out of the churches business is the reason why so many folks have left organized religious institutions. That person should read more of the Bible where many of us learned that Jesus was sent by our Father to save the world and even Jesus never turned his back on the sick and afflicted, or sinners of all descriptions. What kind of rules would the Lord agree with that shut out anyone who believes. This preacher (he certainly is not a teacher of the Word) will have to answer to the Lord on Judgment Day, provided Gabriel even opens the pearly gates for him. This pastor may be looked thru the gate, but certainly not walking thru it.

  16. The more I think about this the more it irritates me. What type of man is pastor Walter F. Houston truly? If he were any type of a caring, christian, God loving man he would have known that a member of his congregation was ill and should have been visiting/praying at her bedside during this time. Not worried about how much money she wasn't giving to the church (most likely to line his greedy pockets).

  17. I know this happened a year ago, but felt the need to comment. I left organized churches because of hypocrisy and stuff like this I witnessed when I was younger. Recently I have started to consider returning to church because of the example set by my sisters church. My mother is dying of cancer. My mom only attended my sisters church a few months, and was not a member, but the pastor there visited my mom and prayed with her. The church offered to have her service there free if we wanted, and provide a luncheon afterwards for everyone to have fellowship and celebrate her life. Not only that but as a single parent going to school to better myself and struggling financially they covered dues for my son to attend youth program. This to me is how a Christian should be. Shame on that pastor. He has hurt that family in an already hard time and set a horrible example of a Christian.
