So What's The Big Deal, LisaRaye McCoy Was Recently Baptized???
Lord have mercy, another "celebrity" patting themselves on the back for something people do everyday. Water baptism should be a very significant time in the life as a believer. It’s a time to fully commit to obey and follow Jesus, being willing to fulfill the purpose and plan of Almighty God for our life.
The awesome significance of water baptism is that it symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and our identification with Him in them. Water baptism also gives the believer the opportunity to openly testify to others of his born-again experience. It serves as an outward sign and testimony of an inward grace. The believer has been crucified with Christ, buried with Him and raised together with Him to walk in newness of life (Galatians 2:20; Romans 6:4).
In the last few days the internet was in a complete meltdown over a pic posted on social media, of actress Lisa Raye getting baptized at her home by celebrity pastor Toure Roberts. Lisa is a member of One Church International in Los Angeles, and credits the church for helping her make real changes in her life. She posted the following statement:
I'm thinking, if Ms. Raye truly identifies with the Christian faith, then this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, nor news worthy. I just don't get it? In my opinion, there's no such thing as a "Super-Christian." The Scriptures refer to Jesus as being the last Adam (I Corinthians 15:21-22, 45). Jesus, in His sacrifice for us, represented us. When a person receives Jesus as Lord, they identify fully with what happened to Jesus (Romans 6:4-6). Water baptism is a physical act that should indelibly mark the mind of the person being baptized with the reality of his union with Jesus Christ. Why are people online, so surprised that Ms. Raye got baptized?
