Upset Sunday Best Contestant Confronts Mean Judges!

Folks need to stop taking joy in other people's humiliation and down fall.  I have never liked this show from day one.   Especially, after the alleged scam they pulled last year.

Anyhow, BET premiered the new season of Sunday Best and fans were not at all happy with the behavior of the famous gospel judge panel.
A contestant completely offended by the actions of the judges spoke out on the matter and fans agree. Sunday Best is a reality television Gospel singing  competition series that airs on BET.

The current celebrity judges include gospel singers Yolanda Adams, Kiki Sheard, Donnie McClurkin, and mentor Kim Burrell along with host Kirk Franklin. Although the gospel competition is set on helping young believers get recording contracts to sing gospel music, one particular contestant by the name of Dennis Brigham stated after his audition that judges McClurkin and Burrell were doing the exact opposite. Rest Here!

  1. Love Never FailsTuesday, 08 July, 2014

This is so sad on many levels... The whole idea of the show is wrong. The pride of the judges who seem to forget that their talent is a GIFT from the Lord. ONLY to be used in service to Him. The contestant who has a deep need to be somebody. May he find his purpose and identity in Christ alone. These shows are mocking Christianity. BET has nothing to do with Christ why do they have Gospel shows? Why are Christians working together with the people, didn't the Bible say we shouldn't be unequally yoked with unbelievers? You can not win them for Christ if you work together, but you will become like them...

    1. I for one will be happy if and when the show is canceled. Everyone can make a joyful noise unto the Lord. We don't need to be judged on what pleases God.

    2. am i missing something. First of all God does say may a joyful noise but he also gives gifts ti some to be presented through vocals. There is nothing wrong with competing in Gods eyes these contestants are expising songs to gods glory. God is in control of promotion. Dont be offended. Its only when Gods people get attention is when people get mad.futhermore, donnie and kim are totally justified in what they did. They were laughing but this guy already knew he wasn't good enough.lets stop acting like everyone in the kingdom is gonna sing. Does everyone preach.no. Does everyone evabgalize no. Stop it people.

  3. Dennis told the truth for real. He stepped out on faith and auditioned again. He said what a lot of us at home were thinking. However, the bigger picture is at the end of the day, he came back and apologized to the judges. He read Kim Burrell and Donnie something serious.

  4. Sunday Best judges are WAY TOO UP THERE FOR ME!!! Even if someone is horrible, it's EVERYTHING to THEM, the least they can do is LISTEN. You can't listen if you are talking and laughing. It's very rude and insensitive. Just because you can doesn't mean you should, even if you can arrogantly justify it. I'm sure they understand when trying to get record label executives to LISTEN to them... If you are applying for a bank loan, you want someone to listen, same with a job presentation, everything. They should EXCUSE themselves if they need to talk and converse, shame on them.

  5. I like Donnie and Kim , however this young man was correct in how he addressed them, they were laughing at him in public, so he corrected them in public for their disrespectful behavior. This was not a joke for him and I think Kierra was giving him some very constructive things that he could do to improve, but its hard to receive it when you have people laughing in front of your face and he was the only one on stage ,so what else could they have been laughing at ? I really think that they should change the judging panel every year, sometimes people get very comfortable and forget the assignment.

  6. In the words of Lexi ......" Burn it all down and leave only YOU........" , that`s exactly what needs to happen. Why are some of the judges on the show acting like they earned/deserve the " Gift " of God? Those types of haughty and proud spirits set us up for the fall. Just like the British say...." your going to get your Up-and -Comins " . In other words ,you will reap what you sow one day. The positions/opportunities we attain In the " Body of Christ ", should leave us more humble, more loving and more gentle in spirit. If the " fruit of the Spirit " is not evident, to others who come across our path then I dare say somebody is a hypocritical phony. Trying to mimic the attitudes and demeanor of other judges on specific worldly shows, are not suppose to be the example we set/follow as saints of God. But if you want to act like a "Simon " then you get what a "Simon " deserves. It`s pitiful how some folks can dish out harsh treatment , yet when they are criticized they cant handle the truth. Amazing, isn't it ? Take your own medicine Kim and Donny ! You want to cut folks up who haven't reached your idea of " perfection " . Then you turn around and start trying to correct your victim because they haven't reached your elevated " standard " .On top of all that , you got the nerve to cut them up ,and you expect them not to bleed. But consider this, don't expect everyone you attack to suffer in silence. Some folks are tired of being pushed around by "bullies ", who have somehow managed to gain positions and titles. If YOU cant take the heat then, get out of the kitchen. Criticism is a two edged sword and you should know by now, which side to use.

  8. These competitions have to be taken with a grain of salt, which is why I feel that Christian organizations shouldn't be a part of them. Most of the shows value is to entertain, not minister. It fosters a spirit of pride & ego.

    1. Hallelujah Anonymous, I agree. This idea of competition among Christians is very dangers. These judges were out of line, If you are more gifted than others don't look down upon those with lesser gifts. If the Lord is blessing your family, work, children, and finances, don't make fun or look down upon others who may be struggling. If you can sing a solo don't look down upon others who can't.We must learn from John the Baptist and others. There was no room or any thought in John's heart for competition or rivalry.

  9. I have to agree with the young man. Ms. Burrell and Mr. McClurkin did appear to be laughing at the young man. Ms.Burrell can be very arrogant at times and that is not a good thing to be especially for someone who had received the calling to preach to the masses. Please remember saints if you are going to talk the talk, you must walk the walk. If you are going to be paid to judge Sunday's Best, all of the contestants deserve your undivided attention. Sidebar conversations should not be allowed when an individual is giving his or her all.

  10. She do be doing the most. And i think they all need to remember when they first started. She ant all that

  11. Well....I can't say he was wrong! A lot of times people don't want to do things because they are scared that they may get laughed at or talked about. People get tired of that. He told her how he felt and didn't back down!! Maybe next time they will give feedback without making fun of people!

  12. That's what she gets. Pitting people against each other to sing for God is RATCHERY within itself. Ain't nobody gotta please them, it's about pleasing GOD!!! #EgoTrippin...

  13. Kim and Donnie were very disrespectful and unprofessional. When Kiki was speaking they should have been quiet. People seem to think that when the Lord was giving out gifts and talents, that He broke the mold when He finished with them. My point is this, don't ever think you are the begin all end of anything, there is always someone better, so humble yourself. Every person who auditioned no matter how good or awful they sang deserved respect and everyone's undivided attention.

  14. She deserved it. I can't watch Sunday's Best for that reason. Last season she threatened a contestant because he didn't sing a song right. I also don't care for Donnie McClurkin. He is arrogant and mean towards the contestants.

  15. BET was purchase by Viacom. Viacom also own two of the largest TV music channels MTV and VH1. Viacom was the biggest distributor of XXX Rated hard core pornography back in the 70"s and 80"s. I wish the video was available for viewing. When the contestant Dennis Brigham told Kim Burrell he was finish with her, Kim Burrell flash a satanic hand symbol toward this young man. The left hand means I place a curse on you, the right hand means I'm involved in the occult.

  16. Child, Kim Burrell is not the Occult, that child ain't got no coins. The Occult has money so that excludes Kim and she has no anointing, she only has skill. Dorinda Clark, Beverly Crawford , Leandria and some others can teach her a thing or two about singing under the anointing. Kim and Donnie both tried it and Dennis read thgpem both and then sealed the book.

  17. Even though everyone falls short; however, being disrespectful is no excuse. I watched this show many times; however, I ceased watching this show because of the worldly actions coming from some of these judges. Being a minister of God is not to down individuals therefore, if a minister of God don't have nothing nice to say then don't say nothing at all but yes or no. The laughing and picking was out of order and Dennis Brigham was used by God in order to put some of these individuals back in line. I'm hoping that these two individuals take a look at what society seen. You could tell that Dennis Brigham was nervous because he wanted to be chosen; however, this young man will make it. Dennis Brigham have the voice to sing for the Lord, so keep trusting in the Lord Dennis. God will give you the desires of your heart if you stay in him (God) . For the two individuals that was being corrected, they have to realize it wasn't Dennis correcting them but God giving them a sign to remove the chip off of their shoulders and to remember that singing and good deeds want get you into the Kingdom. Let's get it right people of God; therefore, remember that we are not a part of the world so stop acting like it. This is "one" of various reasons why society do not take Christianity seriously.

  18. I agree with Dennis; it was very disrespectful the way they treated him. Kim appears to be mean spirited and I think sometimes Donnie get caught up in the foolishness. I stopped watching the show for the very reason that he spoke about. I also thought that Erica and Tina was rude. This show is not American Idol and they need to stop trying to act like Simon.

  19. I agree as well. I think that Donnie is always disrespectful to these contestants. I mean to sit up there and laugh at some of these people who are already nervous and some probably with insecurities, is absolutely appalling. He is supposed to be a Pastor and a leader and his job is to Minister to these people instead of breaking them down even worse. This could really cause some of them to quit something that they love to do all because they were crushed, and not just crushed, but on television in front of the nation. I am just so disappointed with them and have lost so much respect with them over the years. Kiki is the best thing to the show along with CeCe and BeBe. Donnie with his fruity self just need to check himself and think how he felt when he first started singing. I think they have gotten to comfortable in there position and just need to be removed.

  20. Get rid of everyone but kiki! This will then open the atmosphere for sincere praise & worshiping hearts. Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Tremaine Hawkins & Shirley Caesar would be great judges. Let the ones who paved the way judge..get rid of the party scene. They know praise, worship & deliverance when they hear it. They came from humble beginnings
