Tribute To Bobby Womack: SOMEDAY WE'LL ALL BE FREE!

Salute to one of the worlds greatest soul singers, of all times Bobby Womack. Mr. Womack was set free yesterday, the legendary soul singer career spanned more than seven decades, died yesterday at age 70.

Bobby Womack had roots in gospel music and cited R.H. Harris of the Soul Stirrers as one of his influences. Womack and his brothers performed gospel music before gaining the attention of Sam Cooke, who eventually signed them to his label (SAR Records) as The Valentinos, where they made the transition to R&B.

  1. Bobby's passing brought tears to my eyes. Was is it not just yesterday? Each time I listen to “Across 110th Street” and “Harry Hippie’, they provoke a time capsule of America when black pride, the culture wars, drugs, sexual revolution and the Vietnam War were so palpable and poignant. As so often, it is artists, minstrels and poets who are able to succinctly and beautifully capture such human moments. And no one captured that time quite like Bobby Womack. What an artist, minstrel and poet!

  2. One of the best soul singers of all-time. He was not Ruffin, Wynne, or Pendergrass, but every soul aficionado knows his voice when you hear "if you think you're lonely now, wait til tonight girl." May his soul rests in peace, but first he must have a one-on-one with Sam Cooke.

  3. American Gospel singer great. We have no idea how many songs Bobby vocal to himself that remain close to his heart.

Something belong to God and the man he loves.

Bobby warn the heart of many.

  4. RIP, Bobby Womack!

  5. One day we will all be free, no more chains holding us back.
