Who Care That Don Lemon Is Gay? The Black Church Sure Don't!

I tell you what  if  I have to hear one more person talking about the black church is more homophobic than other churches… "The Black Church" and homosexuality seems to be in the news every other  week.....every time someone come out  the closet who happen to be black ......the media goes into high gear and start attacking the church.....like I stated many times before on this blog.....I  grew up in the black church construct  and have been part of it all my life.....and will always have a love for it...and I don't believe the church is wrong in it stand that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice that is unnatural so therefore it can not be accepted and embrace by the church....now do that mean the church can't support the gay community? NO it does not!! I believe the church can and should support the gay community in having the same rights as everyone else without abandoning it's teaching...."The Black Church" have always believe that homosexual behavior conflicts with the word of God and that the judgement for sin will be judge by GOD......but  for people like Mr.Lemons to think the church should embrace such a lifestyle that  going against the solid teaching of  Jesus...is nothing but a slap in the face to the church....I don't see the church leaving behind  the Solid Foundation upon which it was built....in order to embrace a agenda push by man.

  2. for the record Jesus never spoke about homeosexuality, never.

  3. Anonymous you're right there is no NT record of where Jesus said out loud that homosexuality is wrong, but He did in fact condemn the behavior.

If you do a careful study of your Bible it will bear this out....if you study hard and ask for insight into the word you might catch this...Jesus did not have His own plan when He came to earth....Jesus was about the plan of His Father.

the Father plan was set in motion from the beginning of time...since Jesus approved of His Father's plan one man,one woman, one flesh we can correctly say that Jesus condemned homosexuality because His Father condemned it.

Jesus did say thin in the NT: if you believed Moses, you would believe me for he wrote about Me...but if you do not believe his writings how will you believe my words?

I got a couple of questions for you: what law was Jesus born under?(the law of Moses) what law did He live under?(the law of Moses)so what did the law of Moses say about homosexuality?

  4. You are correct whne you say Jesus was under the law of Moses. However the Law of Moses condones Slavery. ARe we saying that Jesus condoned slavery? and if so do we serve a savior that condones slavery? The law of Moses condemned the tax collectors and the Samaritans and those with leporsy. Did Jesus? NO. Jesus broke bread with these people. The new convenant is that Jesus came that all man be saved.Sin entered through one man and sin is eradicated through one man. I find it extremely bizzare that the church condemns gays, when the truth is that we all fall short. The Law of Moses had 10 commandements. Jesus came with 2. Love God and Love your neighbor. The church claims to Love God but they have a very hard time loving their gay neighbor.

  5. @anonymous yes Jesus Christ and his disciples condone slavery but.... the slavery Jesus and Paul spoke of is a very different type of slavery than that in our history books....the slavery they condoned is serving people with absolute selfless love, regardless of what positions you are in in life.

You are also right Jesus taught that the two most important commandments are 1) love God, and 2) love others as you love yourself.

Therefore, Jesus would never go along with the cruel and ruthless slavery that humans have brought upon other humans.

In the Old Testament, God did permit slavery for the Israelite, but that slavery was also very different than the horrible treatment of slaves we know today.

In the OT God ordered male slaves to be set free after six years of service; but if the slaves loved their masters and didn't want freedom, the masters could have them for life.

If girls were sold as slaves, the masters should care for them as wives; the masters should treat them as daughters if they married their sons...the penalty for kidnapping and selling people would be death...you won't find that in any history book.

You might ask why didn't Jesus stop the oppressive form of slavery? I answer this early...you must understand why Jesus came to earth in the first place.

He came down here to fulfill very specific missions in a short period of time....that means he was set to do only what he was sent to do by Jehovah God Almighty.

Jesus' coming was to teach people about God's Kingdom, and to die in order to save us....there's no doubt in my mind that Jesus followed the law of Moses.

  6. I disagree with your version of slavery. When a person is a slave they are not free to live their lives as they chose ,it does not matter how well they are treated.Sara treated her slave Hagar very bad after her son Ishamel was born, not to mention how she was force to have the baby in the first place. You did not answer regarding the church hard time loving their Gay neigbors as Jesus commaned them to

    ReplyDelete
  7. @Anonymous you can disagree that's not a problem....slavery has some negative vibes so the concept of being a slave for Jesus is hard for many to grasp.

You can not look at slavery in biblical time and compare it to the slavery that is record in our history books.

A growing and mature Christian realize and understand that he/she belong exclusively to Christ....therefore they have no problem being call a slave to Christ....at some point in our spiritual development we have to understand beyond simple belief in who and what Jesus is.

If Jesus Christ is LORD, He is my LORD and my Master, my Savior, my KING...so I guess that make me a slave.

"Sara (Sarai)treated her slave Hagar very bad after her son Ishamel was born, not to mention how she was force to have the baby in the first place"

This is not an excuse for how Sarai treated Hagar...but I believe it was because of her emotions that led her to mis-treat Hagar....for Sarai, Ishmael and Hagar were a reminder of a foolish decision she made....and I don't believe the baby was force upon Hagar you have to understand what it meant to be a concubine in that time....it had it fringe benefits.

I don't think the church have a problem loving it's neighbors.

  8. Anonymous, the BIBLE, the unadulterated WORD OF GOD condemns homosexuality as an ABOMINATION, whether Jesus was under the Law or ever said a mumbling word about the practice. We are born male and female, intended to mate heterosexually for not just procreation but sexual pleasure. In the Revelation of JESUS to Saint John the Beloved on the Isle of Patmos, JESUS explicitly says this: After these things I heard what sounded like the loud voice of a vast throng in heaven, saying, "Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, because his judgments are true and just. For he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her sexual immorality, and has avenged the blood of his servants poured out by her own hands!" Then a second time the crowd shouted, "Hallelujah!" The smoke rises from her forever and ever. The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures threw themselves to the ground and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne, saying: "Amen! Hallelujah!" Then a voice came from the throne, saying: "Praise our God all you his servants, and all you who fear Him, both the small and the great!" (Rev.19.1-5)

Now, Anonymous, you may want to him-n-haw about the intended meaning of what Jesus actually had to say about sexual immorality all you want. But, on this one, I have chosen to error on the side of caution. Throughout the Bible, homosexuality is denounced and forbidden as an abomination before GOD. Just because Amerika has allegedly abolished slavery still does not give us license to practice homosexuality or indulge inordinate depraved licentiousness, no matter how far out of context you are willing to twist your Bible to support an obvious abomination. The bottom line is that homosexuality is diametrically opposed to the Holy Bible and the true teachings of the Savior.

Personally, I have nothing for or against folks who practice homosexuality. They are free to live their lives as they choose. That notwithstanding, we who adhere to the scriptures of the Holy Bible are just as free to live our lives as heterosexually and GODLY as we wish. Since Amerika is allegedly a constitutional democratic republic predicated on the freedom of religion, as there is no state sanctioned religion, we saints can teach the Bible freely. If our denunciation of homosexuality offends you, please feel free to pick another faith. We're never going to stop preaching the Gospel of Christ because you are offended by the Bible's stance on homosexuality.

  9. @Rage The plane reading of scripure,so beloved of those who view the Bible as inerrant ,infallible, and inspired are less enthusiastically when comes to biblical positions that differ from their own interests and practices. Like I said before in the Bible Jesus has a great deal to say about divorce and nothing to say about homosexuality, yet most preachers and Christians avoid any serious discussion views on divorce. MAT 5:31 "It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a
    certificate of divorce.'

32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital
unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries
    the divorced woman commits adultery.
A large number of the adults in the church have divorces for reasons other then infidelity, but lets not talk about that sin we have to keep this one silent, it can be our little chritian secret.
Matthew 5:43 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Let's also keep this one a secret for if we don't we might have to act like we love homosexaul's. Homosexuality is a sin, but Jesus call's us to love all of our neighbor's, not just chritians who think like you. We are all sinners saved by grace. For the record I'm a heterosexual married man with one child, unashamedly black unapologetically christian.
