The Black Church Agrees With The President.

Image
I don't know who this coalition of 34,000 black churches that's blasting the president.....I would like to think and say one group of ""Black Churches"" does not speak for all ""Black churches""....I've read a couple of articles implying  that the Black Church is waking up and maybe moving away from supporting the president...I don't understand how or why they got that idea.   Some "Black Churches" do support the president decision and some don't ...The president made a decision to stop defending the federal law that bans recognition of gay marriage....Although if not mistaken  President Obama doesn't believe in a union of marriage between same sex couple....But he do support a Civil Union....I would like to think most ""Black Churches"" would support the idea of a person right to chose....Jesus was in the center of two crosses which symbolize one of God's greatest gifts to mankind- the g

The Influence Of Prophetess Juanita Bynum!

Image
Rumor has it that  Prophetess  Juanita Bynum  with be publishing a health and wellness book later this year. Over the past eight months, Ms  Bynum has quietly shed 30 pounds, dropping from a size 16 to her current size 8.  The prophetess says she not done yet.  She's 15 pounds away from her goal weight of 135, which would fit her 5-foot-4-inch frame into a size 6.  Ms. Bynum said  after starting her new plan, she was diagnosed with diabetes, which prompted her to want to lose weight. I personal believe if there is any one person who can motivate black women to move toward a more healthy life style. I would say it's  Prophetess Bynum. Her messages have always seem  to me to be more straightforward. And  yes I do believe she still have a certain amount of  influence within the black church construct.  Church announcement here.

Mission Is A God Thing!

Image
The Old Black Church would like to offer a heart felt moment of prayer for Scott and Jean Adam family and friends.  Scott and Jean were the missionary couple who was kill when Somali pirates seized  their yacht Friday.  According to their website, their mandate was to travel to ports around the world distributing Bibles and "seeking fertile ground for the Word."   What a tragic loss. May Gods peace and love be with the couples grieving loved ones. When we answered the call God have on our lives we don't know every thing that is entail in that call. But we do know it's the best decision any of us could hope to make! God bless them! Church Announcement Here !

Oprah Winfrey Crown Is Growing In Heaven!

Image
Oprah Winfrey today gave the McGhee family and their miracle sextuplets $250,000 credit at Walmart as well as a honeymoon in Las Vegas - despite the fact the couple got married 11 years ago. Mia McGhee stated: "I want to make sure I instill values in them. First love God - know God and love God first because he brought them here with purpose   What a beautiful picture.   Love It!

Is Facebook Killing The Church Cash Flow?

Image
Social networking site Face book has been blamed for many social ills .  The latest allegation is  it's killing the church. I don't think Face book is killing the church it might be killing the church cash flow. I see the potential to use social media, twitter, face-book, etc to evangelize and have outreach events as a great idea. This is a very interesting argument by Professor Richard Beck who's a experimental psychologist at Abilene Christian University.  He argues that the internet, and specifically the social-networking site Face book, is destroying  the sense of community that people have typically obtained via church membership.  I do believe the church going experience is more social, for young people than for others. I also agree there are lots of societal benefits to church attendance such as family and community that you just don't get on Facebook.   I believe today's church  is following the path which was prophesied and  predicted by Pau

Who Get To Enter The Throne Room Of God?

Image
Do God want us to know more about heaven than what He has revealed to us in His Word? Why are so many Christians willing to abandon faith for sight? I believe when Christian  fail to walk by faith we are setting our self  up for deception.  I have a hard time believing in this little boy experience of heaven. I read about the story of Colton, last year. Here's a little boy who claim to have had a heavenly experience during a life-or-death surgery. Colton is  now seven years old with a book telling of the experience. There is simply no reason why God would grant such an experience. What is the purpose of it?  What does the Bible say about heaven ?  The Scriptures tell us that heaven is an actual physical place and that God was the one who made it.  The Scriptures also tell us that heaven is where God has His throne.  According to the Scriptures, heaven is the destination for Christians when they die. The bible says that few will enter Heaven.  Little Colton was age four, when he s

Is Lady Gaga A "model of Christian virtue?"

Image
Some folks are claiming that Lady Gaga is spreading the good news of Jesus Christ,  without deliberate intent, unwilling, un-intentionally.   And that she is some kinda role model for Christian virtue. There's also this claim that she has the potential to introduce God to many people precisely because it doesn't seem like she is doing so. The author of the piece goes on to say that  Lady Gaga is telling a huge, devoted audience that God loves them. Now I would never  use the word virtue in the same sentence with Lady Gaga. I don't understand how she could  possible be promoting Christianity with her weird ,strange ,unusual  life. Am I missing something? This young lady have a dress made of meat for heaven sake. Tonight she show up at the Grammys in an egg.  The two words that I would use to describe her would not be Christian and virtue. So my question  is Lady Gaga a  role model for young Christian girls?
Another step in developing your friendship with God is: Choosing to be honest with Him! God doesn’t expect you to be perfect, but He does expect you to be honest. If perfection was a requirement not one of us would qualify. In the Bible God’s friends were honest about their feelings, sometimes even complaining and arguing with Him, yet He didn’t seem to mind. In fact, He encouraged it. God listened patiently to David’s accusations of unfairness, betrayal and abandonment. He didn’t zap Jeremiah for claiming God had tricked him. Job was allowed to vent his bitterness and God actually defended him for being honest. On the other hand, He rebuked Job’s friends for faking it: “You haven’t been honest either with me or about me—not the way my friend Job has…My friend Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer” (Job 42:7 TM). To be God’s friend you must share your true feelings with Him, not what you think you ought to feel or say. Until you understand that God uses everything for goo

Why Are There So Many Prophets In The Land Today?

Image
Does young Manasseh Jordan and Prophet Brian Carn have the biblical gift of prophecy for today? I don't know but this young lady seems to think that Prophet Manasseh does.  Are these men true prophets of today ? Why would we need prophets today, if we have the completed revelation from God in the Bible? If prophets were the “foundation” of the early church, are we still building the “foundation” today? I've notice young Manasseh Jordan and Prophet Brian Carn are head lining a number of conferences and have a number of speaking engagement this year .I believe anyone who come calling themselves a prophet today  is to some extent using a sneaky form of manipulation. Don't get me wrong I do believe  God can reveal truth to someone in a supernatural way. And have someone to deliver said message. But I do not beleive that to be prophecy.  I was once expose to this kinda of manipulation while growing up in the south. My small town were a haven for revival meeting. I remember

Why Can't A Single Man Be The Senior Pastor?

Image
Is it biblical unfair for churches to state and seek only married men preferably those with children for a senior pastor position?.....Why can't a person be an effective senior pastor if unmarried?....If it's not biblical then why do so many black churches ask that a senior pastor be married?....I know we in the black church house love to quote Paul....But Paul starts the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 7off talking about singleness and marriage....Paul said “It is good for a man not to marry”he goes on to say it's good if  "all men" were single, celibate, and serving Christ without the weight of a spouse and children. So, when and why did the church whip up this idea that a man must be married in order to be senior pastor? My son-in-law is a young  senior pastor who at one time was passed over for a senior pastor position because he wasn't married.... . He said  single people are treated differently when it comes to ministry... . And that most black

Congratulation To The Church Youth Workers!

Image
I remember once upon a time in our traditionally black Baptist churches, dealing with the needs of the young was most often a hard thing to do....especially when it came to finding or thinking of something for them to do....most of the time all we could do were just keep them busy, and occupied inside the church with something  instead of outside in the streets.....I teach Sunday School to the young adult (ages 16-35)....its hard and even more challenging to developed  a lesson plan for them....so today I would like to take time and  high five all  youth workers in our churches  who are able to form and fill a choir stand on Sunday morning....and still have some youth lining the walls as they perform usher duties.....I'm not a big fan of dance in the church but I do appreciate and acknowledge the kind of hard work that is required.

Will You Give The Church 10%?

Image
Many Christians struggle with the issue of tithing. In some churches tithing is over-emphasized. At the same time, many Christians refuse to submit to the biblical exhortations about making offerings to the Lord. I'm a tither and I believe in giving to the  church....But I do it because I wont to not because I have to.....I found the below comment on a Christian message board and it pain me: I have a question, when it comes to giving your 10%, i really do not have a problem with this, except if i were to give 10% of what i have, i would be taking money out of either my rent, my utilities, or basic necessities. I have a VERY low income, right now I'm a single parent with 5 kids. Two of whom are in diapers, so every dollar is accounted for. On the occasion when i have a few extra dollars i do give it to my church, but i feel it isn't enough. And no, i do not get my nails done, my hair done, no cable none of the luxuries that i used to have. So my question is, do i just take t
