In some churches when it's prayer time, the same people repeat the same prayers and everybody concludes well that's covered. Stop! what if your prayers don't line up with God's will? John writes: He will listen....whenever we ask....in line with His will. Theres a big difference between asking in line with God's will and seeing God as some kind of genie that comes out of a bottle to grant you every wish. Many prayers reflect our will more than God's. For example: The trivial We pray for good weather for our weekend outing when Gods' got a bigger agenda. Self-centered: Your husband is in the army and his unit is being ship to Iraq you pray to God that your husband don't go. Come on he's a soldier. God promises protection not immunity and comfort. The controlling: Jesus tells us don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. Why ask God to make people conform to your wishes when He don't even force them to conform to His? Jesus taught us to pray thy will be done. God always answers when we ask in line with His will.
