Calm down folks Ms. Jake's would never ever call a woman a dog.
"First Lady Serita Jakes has managed to ruffle quite a few feathers with her Mother's Day message: "I Came To Ask God Why."
The Potter House Church, Mother's Day message was delivered by none other than the church, First Lady, author, and Bible teacher Ms. Serita Jakes The Mothers Day message was based on Matthew 15:21-28 which has seem to caused quite a bit of a buzz among the internet crowd.
Personally I believe some folks have on purpose misinterpreted the message by Ms. Jake's in order to attack her. I don't think for one minute that Ms. Jake's meant to or even for that matter called women dogs...... That's not her style, she's too classy a women for that. People really have read too much into this message. Now, I will agree that she may not be as effective oratorical as the bishop but that doesn't mean she doesn't know scripture and doesn't have the heart of God.
"I'd like to know who are the "dogs" referred to by FLJakes that were pampered like princesses/princes and if Jesus really meant this kind of dog or the lower class dog for the woman? Did she misinterpret Jesus' intent purposely to make Black women feel devalued (as usually done in society by us in the media). Is this a tool used to keep "black women" in their place and feel less than any other woman. I do think this was not a sermon for other women to hear or FLJakes would have used her message in a different manner. Christians have to be very careful of the messengers today and discern what is really being said to contain the power of manipulating "holy scriptures" to keep "us" in our place. It has been done throughout history and it looks like if we allow it, it will continue to degrade a race of people who have contributed so much history, including the birth of our blessed Savior, Jesus himself."
