Let's Celebrate: Black Music Month!

When it comes to music it doesn't matter the class, type, category or genre music is one of the most powerful art form there is. This particular art form have been speaking volumes in Black America lives for a long time.

On June 7, 1979, President Jimmy Carter proclaimed the month of June as Black Music Month after tireless lobbying from Kenny Gamble of legendary songwriting team Gamble and Huff. There are countless ways one can celebrate black music month as for me my celebration plans are to revisit the music from the 70's. This is the music I grew up on and once upon a time love.

I'm going to start with a couple of my personal secular favorites:

Johnny Taylor
Al Green
Tyrone Davis
Rose Royce
Chi-Lites
Delfonics
The Stylistics
The Manhattans
Bloodstone
Curtis Mayfield

etc...Check back all month as I revisit some of black music’s finest.

Disclaimer:This post does not mean I'm in a backslidden state nor do it mean I have backslidden back into the world. I'am reminiscing about days of old true, but at the same time I'm thanking God for how He shielded, buffered and protected me during that time.
