The Bishop told his congregation, in a sermon given on June 24, that parents don't really try hard enough to get their kids to come to church, unless there’s a problem they can't solve.
I do think Bishop Jakes is right in a sense. The church does have a certain sense of order and structure that is important to learning if one is to survive in this country. But this idea of structure and order can also be obtained without one being in a church I believe.
Judging from some of the comments that's under the article. The unspoken rules governing our community have not changed most over the years. "You raise your kids the way you want to and I'm raising mind the way I want to". In other words some folks don't want anyone telling them anything about their bad younguns.
