Will Someone Please Suggest Some Serious Counseling For The Family Of 13-year-old Jahi McMath???

A very sad story and situation, I just can't imagine this going on much longer. This family needs to hear the voice of reason. The family of 13-year-old Jahi McMath who was declared brain dead following a tonsillectomy and other throat and nasal procedures has found a nursing home willing to care for the girl long-term, reports state.

The mother and close family are justifiably overcome with grief which is understandable. However, I don't think it's right for the rest of us to overlook the facts and logic and spreading misinformation about this case. My heart goes out to this mother but, I can't help wonder just how this mother ended up with so much misinformation?

The family is now attempting to raise money to help pay for the cost of airlifting the 13-year-old from the Oakland hospital where she has been since Dec. 9 to one of two facilities that have offered to care for the teen indefinitely. (You can read it here)

From what I can understand this little girl was determined to be clinically brain dead following complications from a routine tonsillectomy at Children's Hospital in Oakland. Dr. Paul Fisher, chief of pediatric neurology at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, concurred that Jahi meets all the criteria of brain death. She's confirmed brain dead so there is no blood flow to her brain, no nutrients to the brain, and no healing of the brain.

After doing research I disagree wholeheartedly with the mother and others misinformation that as long as there is a heartbeat, there is life. That's not true especially if the heart beats are manufactured by a machine. (You can read about it here) Please don't get me wrong, no one can tell this mother what is right and wrong in her decision, that's not what I'm trying to do.

But, as devout Christians we should not aid in nor prolong the suffering of others. The reality here is their daughter's brain is gone, and the heart that is still pumping, is a direct result of the machines pumping air into her lungs. The family (in my opinion only) is totally wrong to try and keep their daughter in the land of the living in order to not have to face the reality of death. I wish someone could get the mother to see this.

1). UPDATE: A judge has extended a temporary restraining order in the case of 13-year-old Jahi McMath. The hospital is not permitted to disconnect the girl from life support until January 7.
