Is This Heresy??

Online congregation what yall think? Popular bible-study author, Beth Moore, has ruffled some feathers on Twitter with her latest declaration–that spending time in God’s Word is not the same thing as spending time with God. Is she wrong? Isn't the word of God, God speaking to us?

  1. She is absolutely correct. I had an atheist roommate who read the Bible faithfully every night and even wrote several articles about how God was not real, so it’s possible to read and not be spending time with God.

  2. I am not sure if it’s Heresy, as much as it is incomplete.

It part I agree. That the Bible isn’t actually God himself.

I am sure we know people that may have read and studied the Bible, but have never confessed to know Jesus as Lord and savior or applied it’s word to their lives.

Meditation of His word and Prayer are very important to any Christians walk. But without he word it would be hard to follow Him.

But I believe Mrs Moore should have added (or emphasized more) that we shouldn’t just read the Bible with out ALSO spending time in prayer, worship and meditation.

The way she wrote her statement may give some people the impression that she is saying we don’t even need a Bibles.

May be if she wrote it like this

“don’t just read your Bible and forsake prayer and meditation. They should go hand in hand”.

May be that would have been received better.

  3. God aspires all of us to READ His Word and "STUDY to show ourselves approved". God has preserved His Word as He promised, and despite this FACT, we are living in an age of the worst Biblical illiteracy. There are tons of Bibles and biblical resources to help the whole world understand God through His WORD. Problem is... man and woman refuse to read His WORD, Thus they miss out the ONLY way to come to faith in Him, and void themselves of the Only Way they can KNOW Him and LIVE for HIM. Truth of the matter is people are WAY OFF THE MARK when it comes to spending time with the BIBLE as GOD commanded they SHOULD! Many of the dumb sheeple could not immediately turn to book of Hosea if you ask them, yet alone quote Romans 3:23.

No matter how Beth twists it, but "spending time with God" and "spending time with the Bible" go hand-in-hand. John said "In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was GOD". For Beth to make these statements of trickery so she can establish her own narrative is DECEPTIVE, DISHONEST and ABSOLUTELY INSANE!

  4. She is correct...

That's why you have so many folks who can quote the bible up & down and shout in yo face...

But as soon as they step outside the church the devil is like "are you done yet"...

Get on your knees and pray/ develop a prayer life and relationship with GOD...

  5. Very true. The Word of God does not profit anyone unless it is mixed with faith (Hebrews 4:2). Notwithstanding, I believe that someone consistently reading the Bible stands a greater chance of coming to faith in Christ than a non-reader of the Bible. I have heard countless testimonies of people coming to faith from just reading the Word. The Word of God is spirit and life (John 6:63), faith comes by hearing God’s word (Romans 10:17), Jesus said search the scriptures (John 5:39), the Word of God is alive (Hebrews 4:12), the Word is essential to our deliverance (John 8:31, 32), the word of God cleans us up (John 15:3), the Word of God helps us to grow spiritually (1 Peter 2:2), the Word keeps us from sin (psalm 119:11), we are strongly admonished to study the Word of God (2 Timothy 2:15), living by the Word is God’s requirement (Deuteronomy 8:3, Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4), and it doesn’t return void (Isaiah 55:11). God be glorified forever through the truth of your word!

  6. Miss Ann,

It it important for Christians to understand the WORD of God.

The WORD of God is for life (Deuteronomy 8:3, Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4) preservation, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding (Psalm 119).

If we obey God’s commandments and live according to his precepts, then we fulfill the Will of God for our lives.

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13)

According to scripture, women are to be in silence and not preach/teach. If Miss Moore understood this, she would have taken several seats!

Reading the WORD of God is one thing, purposing to live accordingly is another. Watch the fruit!
