Why Did The Little Boy Who Proclaimed To The World 'I'm tired of this church' Get In Trouble!?!?

Online congregation you hear it all the time. I’m done with church. This viral video of this little boy letting the world know that he's tired of church as predicted has gotten him in trouble. It's being reported via SpareTheKids.Com that the pastor of the church took the boy into the bathroom and admonished him, and then later his father spank the 5-year-old. Some online are suggesting he learned from his grandmother that he can't say no to doing things he doesn't want to do. Then he has learned from the pastor that any adult can admonish him for speaking his truth. Then he has learned from his dad that he will get physically punished for speaking his truth. Others are saying the lesson here is the young boy has no voice and he deserves to be hit, even when forced to do things that he doesn't want to do. Black kids, especially boys are targets at school, in the streets, and now in church and at home. No wonder suicide rates and depression amongst black boys/men is sky high. Do you agree? What do you all think, should the kid have been punished for saying that he was tired of the church?

  1. He should not have been punished for speaking his truth. I watched an interview with the child and his dad and the child said that his grandma took him to the bathroom to talk about it. The dad said that once he found out he told him that he couldn’t do that. I’m curious where this news source got it’s info or if it has been updated.

  2. Ms. Ann, I truly believe this in regards to children having genius qualities. I believe our potential peaks in childhood and at that time we are are best and truest selves. If we can simply harness all of that potential and activate it as adults and maybe even before we would be happier, healthier, and more influential. Instead, through childhood people gradually snuff out our flames. Then as adults, we are just wicks...waiting for someone to ignite a spark in us again. We were created to shine brightly like a light of glory and to emit a sweet fragrance.

  3. Generations of blacks were raised in this type of bondage having their voices silenced by their own families and being made to feel as if their feelings don't matter. Punishing him was not the answer. Someone needed to talk to him and understand his reason for being tired of the church. It could be something as simple as the service is too long.

  4. Train up a child. When he is old he will not forget what he was taught.

  5. May be it’s me but HE’S FIVE.

You give any five year old a microphone in front of people when he DOESN’T WANT TO DO IT and you are rolling the dice on how they’ll behave.

May be a light talking to but a spanking, and chastised by the pastor???

I would say they set him up for his reaction and then punished him for it.

    1. I agree Cop, he shouldn't have been spanked bc he didnt do wrong. He clearly told them he didnt want to do the speech. They could have avoided this by not making him.

  7. Good for that little boy! Children should not be forced to do anything they are uncomfortable doing and shouldn't be disciplined because of it. This could lead to church aversion in the future.

  8. I was forced into chruch and religion so much growning up that now i can't even talk about religion or God without getting anxiety. After i left home i never stepped back inside a church again. I feel this kids pain i hated being at church always being forced to say and do things or be nice to people who won't even deserve it.

  9. Why we would psycho-analyze this church situation because is beyond me. Kids at 5 years and even older resist doing certain activities. Some parents may desire their children perform in school programs like music, sports, drama, etc. Many children speak out against these activities to their parents. Despite their protest, many of the parents go ahead and force the children to perform anyways. Some even spank their children. But somehow when it comes to "Christian" parents pushing their children in the house of God, the parents are "wrong" and "ungodly". The devil is using so many folks to attack what's going on in church. He hates God. His people hates God. He hates God's people and His Church. His people hates God's people and His Church. The LORD is all powerful, and the gates of Hell shall never prevail against His people.

    1. The parents were wrong for chastising him for saying he was tired of church. They are NOT wrong for bringing him to church.

Personally speaking, however, I do feel that there is no reason to constantly be in church all day. And that being forced into too much church can be harmful. But, that's just my personal opinion.

  10. He Spoke The Truth And They Didn't Like It. Getting Kids To Get In Front Of People To Say "Speeches" Is Ridiculous, Forcing Them To Do It Is Stupid, A Tradition In The Church System That Is Neither Scriptural Nor Biblical. I Know How He Feels, I Had To Do Those Dumb Speeches As Child. Shalom

  11. Miss Ann,

The young man might have been frustrated by someone in the church. Any “discipline” towards him should have taken account of his emotional and mental state to understand why he said what he said. His anger could be rooted in how he has been treated in the church by the members/elders.

“But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” (Matthew 18:6)

“And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4)
