Zion Chapel COGIC Allegedly Kicked Young Lady Out Of Church For Missing To Many Sundays.

If your church would ever send out anything like this, you need to rethink the whole reason behind what you’re doing. Stuff like this is why people don’t do church. This young lady Azoia Williams posted the below post to her Facebook page after her church kicked her out. They said the absences have to be excused by the pastor. And now little sis has to go up in front of the board of trustees:

Zion Chapel Church of God in Christ Now I really don’t care that I had to do this, but I’m going to speak for myself and many many others that have received the same thing. If you read this letter you will see that I have been kicked out of Zion Chapel COGIC led by David Johnson Sr. Everyone who knows me knows that I have been going to this church since birth and that my great-grandmother Ruthie Mae Ford was best friends with our previous pastor Superintendent Ernest J. Johnson.

The point of me being kicked out is because I have missed 2 pastoral Sundays according to the ‘rules’ that just so happen to have come about after the death of Ernest Johnson. I’m not going to go into great detail, but I have never heard of a church kicking someone out, a student at that who are attending the University of Southern Mississippi full time and interning at the hospital down there 40 hours a week.

Now when Elder Johnson was alive his granddaughter attended USM as well and was not at church all of the time and she never got kicked out. She also attended after his death when her father took over and still no letter was given to her.🤷🏽‍♀️ But the matter is over and I will not be attending Zion Chapel any more and honestly I’m happy because I’ve found a new church home😊 since zion chapel says this is an indication of my ‘wishes’ which it couldn’t have been because not one soul from that church has called to ask ‘Azoia how is school going? Or how is your family?’ So how can you assume it is my wish to be terminated???

But I wish nothing negative about them I will just remove the negative from my life and move on to the bright future I know God has for me! If anyone feels the need to comment 🗣GO AHEAD!!! Per request of my Grandfather Theodore Williams: “As long as I (Theodore Williams) has been worshipping at Zion Chapel COGIC, I’ve never seen or heard of one being kicked out for being in school or being sick for a while.

I hope that Bishop Daniel Littleton (First Southern Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction) will do what is right to correct the wrongful situation. God knows that my wife and her mother have serviced the church for all of their lives and I pray this situation is corrected before legal matters are taken.”

    1. That is not God at all. More humans trying to control humans. I'm gonna teach my children to not automatically trust people with minister robes on. MacDonalds managers have more authority than them. I am laying my hands on my children as I write this (LOL)!! MOVE out of my way so I can see GOD!!

  2. So she missed two Sundays and instead of calling to see if she was ok they sent her this letter? And what legal action is her family threatening? Everything about this is weird.

    1. Anonymous my former church would send you a letter after missing 4 Sundays. You were then no longer in good standing which meant you couldn't hold office, seek the church resources if you should have crisis, vote in conferences, or have funeral service at the church should you pass away. Actually there was a list of rules to be a member in good standing... It caused many a disagreement.

    2. But I'm sure they'd still accept your tithes and cash that check! I just want to know when and why did churches start going crazy ? I don't remember any of this type of nonsense when I was coming up. Church was something I looked forward to an enjoyed. They didn't try to control me, never talked down to me, was always there for support and guidance. Some of my closest friendships developed as a child in church. If you missed a few Sundays's folks would reach out but nothing on this level. I don't think my church has EVER kicked anyone out or rescinded ones membership. What's going on these days???

    3. In the book of Acts, it says that GOD does not dwell in temples MADE WITH HANDS (buildings constructed by humans). In the New Covenant_After the Cross_the Humans (Temples NOT MADE with hands) are the reference point as to where God Dwells. Humans are the corporate temple that God abides in. Not a Physical Temple in the future in Israel.

Other Humans do not determine a persons standing in Gods Temple. Kick me out of your Temples made with hands, but you cannot move me out of my place with GOD. 1000 Bishops/Pastors who act just like the leadership mentioned above, can pray against me for saying this and NOTHING will happen to me, no bad consequences or need to repent or anything.

(I might have to repent for laughing at some of you old one's falling back in your chairs while praying against me because you cant stand up too long anymore (LOL!!!)

  3. I hope she didn't go to church dressed like that. That's more of a problem than her missing. She looks like a SNACK!

    2. Excuse me but I'm 64 and see nothing wrong with her dress. What I do see wrong is the judgment and condemnation she's receiving from you. Jesus said man looks at the outside but God looks at the heart. He told the pharisees to clean inside of their cup, not the outside (the way they were dressed). This why the younger generation calls us hypocrites and phonies and don't want nothing to do with the church.

    3. 64 years OLD and you condone her dress? Says a lot about YOU. If you are female, I wouldn't have you give a piece of your wisdom to the young ladies in my family. Talk all you want about inside, but the Bible teaches women ought to adorn themselves in modest apparel. You are old enough to know better. The younger generation are hypocrites and phonies and have no room to talks about anyone. They choose to stay away from church because they have allowed the world to brainwash them to believe there is NO GOD, and their parents are not training them in the admonition of the fear of the GOD.

  5. I know how you feel. I was removed from the roles of a Christian Reformed Church. I had been ill and was out for 3 weeks. No one called to see if something was wrong with me or anything. When I came back my name had been removed from the box where we picked up bulletins and church news. When I asked what happened to my name, they said they thought I decided to leave the church. Honey even if they "fix" it you find you a good church home. Why didn't the church call and see if there was anything wrong with you or did you need help. This last church I left because it was too far from where I now live in a senior building, was pretty awful too. The pastor had a rule you had to notify him if you were leaving. Well first of all the church belongs to God not the pastor, the elders or anyone else. We should be free to come and go as we please. But I sent him an email to explain and his response was this isn't God and I will not prosper if I leave. Even when I tried to explain about the health conditions and I'm 64 he wouldn't respond. But God set me in a beautiful church and a loving caring pastor. I pray God will do the same for you. Hang on Jesus. Be nlessed

  6. There is more to this story. I neither agree nor disagree with the letter, but the keyword they put for this meeting was the Pastor and the Board of Trustees (which regulate money). There is a bigger picture here that only this young lady, the pastor, and the board of trustees know about......

    Sigh......

  7. Firstly, if Ms. Williams was aware of the church policy and procedure when the new pastor took over, then the church is not at fault. Personally, I would not choose to be a member of a church where all parishoners are obligated to answer /report to the pastor for absenteeism or anything else. Though it may be common courtesy to do so, it should not be mandatory. Secondly, Ms. Williams initially could have chosen to find a different church to attend if she disagreed with the new policy, although she has been attending Zion since birth. If the church policy states that after so many absences, a member is to report to the pastor, so be it. Please note that the policy states that if a member misses two consecutive PASTORAL Sundays and then misses the SECOND SUNDAY of the FOLLOWING MONTH ( not clear here if this means second Pastoral Sunday or just second Sunday, would think pastoral Sunday) without being properly excused (whatever that means), he/she will be terminated from the membership roll. The question here is: if she knew the policy, why did she not comply?

  8. I've seen worse (later). But, speaking directly to this issue, most Baptist churches that I'm aware of have similar rules like this on their books. How those rules are enforced is the issue. From my knowledge and experiences, it is done to keep a track of a member's good standing and used to determine if an individual (church member) is entitled to have a wedding or funeral in the sanctuary, vote, or use other church facilities and/or services. I guess it just depends upon the rules of that church.

Now the worse! I've heard that members of Creflo Dollar's church, (or one of those other shysters), are REQUIRED to submit their W-2's in order to confirm that they are tithing properly! One of these jokers even have ATM machines in the vestibule, (or, so I've heard), in order to make sure they can collect your money! LOL! But, the WORST that I have read about are those churches that send church members collection notices and will send their overdue accounts to collection agencies if they are very delinquent in paying their tithes and/or offerings!!! Talk about making someone's life harder and ruining their credit! AH! I found the story: " Florida church sends collection notices to members not tithing enough"-- https://www.rawstory.com/2015/07/florida-church-sends-1000-collection-notice-to-single-mother-because-she-didnt-tithe/

Them light bills got to get paid somehow and a church has to do what it has to do.... I guess...

  9. She should have been sending in those tithes and offerings haha she know why she got kicked out hahaaa sad though.
It's actually sad that churches do this today.
They are more concerned with your money than your souls.
