Bishop Carlton Pearson Ask, Doesn't A Lot Of What We Read In The Bible Sound Fictional?

I enjoyed this Facebook post by Bishop Carlton Pearson, speaking to the tension between reading the Bible literally or as fiction. Although I consider myself an outstanding Bible reader there are clearly many gray areas where credibility is strained trying to accept a passage as true. Over the years I have been able to reconcile quite a few of my belief problems, the biggest being the creation story.

Whether the Bible is read as fiction or truth, there is no doubt that it is filled with some of the world's great literature--fascinating stories of love and hate, great elation and deep despair, and inspirational victories and crushing defeats. In either case, it's worth reading.

  3. The most dangerous man on the planet is at it again! Even more deception and foolishness from Carlton Pearson. I just can’t believe some people enjoy anything he writes. He is the worlds ear tickler. As someone stated earlier, you better read and study for yourself! I refuse to allow anyone to cause me to miss seeing my Savior and Lord in peace. Carlton has so much blood on his hands, and reaping time is coming!

  7. I wonder according to this psychopath which part is fiction and which part is not.

He said "the merciless" God who destroyed the world by flood sound "fictional" (this despite the LORD said Man's HEART was on EVIL CONTINUALLY} " sounds "fictional".

What about when David said "The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy."?

    OR

Micah when he said "Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy."

    OR

“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”

Are these statements fictional as well?
