Birmingham AL, Pastor Said Black Folks Need To Stay Out Of These White Churches, They Don't Want You There?!?!?!

what yall say? is he telling the truth or is he scared people gone leave his ministry?

Controversy has erupted in Birmingham AL because Church of the Highlands is moving a campus into an area that has been described as “high-crime” and they are not receiving a warm welcome from a local pastor. Pastor Michael Jordan of New Era Baptist Church off Cotton Avenue SW posted this message on one side of his church sign: “Black folks need to stay out of white churches” and this on the other side:
“White folks refused to be our neighbors.”
“White folk has proved they don’t want to live next door to us, or be our neighbors, or worship with us,” Jordan told WVTM 13.
“Now they want to plant a white church in a black neighborhood under the umbrella of supposedly to fight crime. The real reason Church of the Highlands wants to put a white church in a black neighborhood is they have too many black folks at their main campus and they want them to leave and come to a church in their inner city.”
Church of the Highlands is a multi-site megachurch founded by Chris Hodges in the suburbs of Birmingham in 2001. It is the largest congregation in Alabama and the second largest in the United States.

  1. This pastor is part of the problem. It's very apparent he's aligned with those group of B'ham pastors that despise Mayor Woodfin.

Also, if he was doing his job by going outside the church walls and serving the community, maybe Church of the Highlands would not have felt the need to open a West End campus.

  2. This “Pastor” is really being dishonest when he said “they want to plant a white church in the black community”. This is not a “white” church, this is a multiracial church seeking to build a campus in the Black community. It would seem fat fetched this large multiracial congregation would build a church to send all its Black congregants back to the inner city. That will be like Trump getting ships made to send all Black folks back to Africa. I better be careful my Trump analogy because people like this preacher may believe Trump is constructing boat now for that purpose.

This guy should just need to sit in his red velvet high chair on the back podium of his store front, close His mouth, and pray God will bless him the short time he has left on this earth. As long as that multiracial mega church has the funding, they are going to build in Birmingham and there is nothing this Pastor can do about it. The LORD is getting tired of all this rhetoric. Time’s up folks!

    1. Come on folks, if you hear him out...he actually makes some valid points (such as 'you want me in your church but not in your neighborhood') If you think there's no seed of truth in that, you're delusional. However, on the flip side, the interviewer makes a good point also in asking what the local black churches are doing to improve their communities. Would be interesting to hear the mega church address each of his talking points. I'm not saying he's right here but if not mistaken a couple of months ago most Alabamian was ready to put Roy Moore in office.

    2. Ms. Ann while there are a few(very few) valid points he has made, his total outlook and plan of action is about as anti-christian as you can get! Terrible

    3. Did any of y'all read the comments under the article on Yellowhammer? White folks invented Jim Crow. Now when we want to self segregate, they call US the racists. Typical.

  4. I read that the Black Mayor has asked churches to move in to the high crime areas didn't say anything about black or white just bring God to troubled areas. Sounds like The Church Of The Highland has taken the mayor up on the offer.

  5. I’m sorry but the church has always been a powerful pilar of strength for blacks. I don’t want to give that up and start following white folks to hell.

  6. Ms. ANN, let's be honest. Not only do white folks wanna live in certain black areas, black folks don't either. And many black folks living there want to GET OUT! I gotta give this preacher some credit though. He did pose a SOLUTION though unreasonable. He suggested Black folks leave white churches. We know that ain't gonna happen because black folks are leaving these black churches because many say they aren't bring fed. Most of what this preacher said is rhetoric. Even Ray Charles can see that. It's all talk and whether it's good points, things are not going to be any different. You already know Ms. ANN. STOP being in denial.

  7. Ms. Ann,
I know most of the coon trolls on this site don’t agree but this man is absolutely positively correct about everything he said.
Black people have got to wake up.
ALL white people are racist-ALL. That includes your favorite white co-worker, your white wife, and even your friendly white Pastor. They revealed themselves completely with their unapologetic support of the white supremacist president they proudly elected.
    Amen, Pastor Jordan.

    2. Let the CHURCH say AMEN!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again that black folks have no business being in a church led by a white Pastor. Why would you CHOOSE to be under your oppressor???

  8. This pastor is saying something that has truth in it. It does grieve me as a pastor of a historic predominately black mainline church in an urban setting that there are many local black churches within urban communities that do nothing outside of their Sunday worship and leave the community in need. My church has always been engaged with the community it's in long before I was appointed there and they continue to do so even though many of the members no longer live in the community. This leaves the churches with the resources (many of them predominately white or multi-ethnic) to fill that void with their diverse activities for community engagement especially children. I would use this as an opportunity to create joint ministries with the new church plant to show the community that the church is a universal body and not a unhinged one that cares enough to work together to pull those communities out of the darkness of economic, political, and social inequities.

    2. Amen. The Pastor in the video here is JEALOUS. He stumbled BIG TIME when asked what the Black churches are doing in the community.

    3. Do church better than black folk? If anything, they learned from black folks HOW church should be done!!! Black churches have served so many supportive roles in the black community and the strides that we've made. Now we want to turn our backs on them and say that whites are doing it better? Whites are deceptive!! They want to be worshiped and they know how to manipulate blacks into turning on each other. Every problem in the black community can be traced back to white colonialism and whites turning blacks on each other to pursue the "white way" of life. Be very careful as history has been known to repeat itself!

  10. You know, I’ve always had a slight beef with white church planters in black and brown communities so I can see where the pastor is coming from. Often times, white church planters want to ride in on their white horse to save the day as if black churches haven’t been trying to make their communities better the whole time. They aren’t interested in using the hundreds of thousands of dollars it takes to open a church to invest in the neighborhoods or local organizations that are already doing the work. They aren’t interested in partnering with community leaders to determine the needs of the community either. They aren’t interested in actually living in those communities they or putting their kids in these local schools either. If it was about helping to fight crime, you don’t have to plant a church to do that.

    1. They are about the GREAT Commission. They evangelize their own communities. The send missionaries all over the world. They sense all the problems in the inner cities and are lead by God to reach the people there with the Gospel, the greatest need for all mankind.

YOU sound like this Pastor - JEALOUS. It ain't no beef you got. You got ISSUES! If you are a Christian, you should have a burden for the lost and praise God for any effort anyone aspire to reach them. You sound like YOU are NOT SAVED! Who are you to tell a church how they should use their "thousands of dollars"? The best way to fight crime is to get folks SAVED! Wake UP people. God is moving!

  12. They do. They influence their communities. They influence their politicians. Their have tremendous outreach. They EVANGELIZE and send missionaries around the world. They build schools and universities. C OGIC is the largest Pentecostal denomination in the US. They have been trying to build SAINTS Center for decades and still hasn't done so. No disrespect. Just the truth.
