The Beyonce Mass Was A Huge Success!!

Reader the Beyoncé Mass at Grace Cathedral, SF Wednesday night seemed to have been a huge success. (success = numbers) It brought in over 900 people and the opening song was "Survivor" by Destiny's Child.

The San Francisco church which held the worship service Wednesday night themed on the teachings of… Beyoncé was part of a weekly worship series intended to uplift the experiences of women and appeal to young worshippers. The unconventional service featured a sermon about liberation struggle, readings from a speech by civil rights leader Ella Baker, scripture readings by black women, a traditional communion, and of course, the singing of Beyoncé songs.

A gospel soloist backed by a choir and live band performed Beyonce’s songs “Listen,” “Freedom,” “Flaws and All,” and “I Was Here,” as well as “Survivor,” a hit by Beyonce’s original girl group Destiny’s Child.

  2. Come through Timezone with the real, and thanks for the comment. But you know how we in today's society love to equate numbers with success.

  6. I have never heard of an alternative version of the Lord's Prayer! This is disgusting and to call it a "Mass" is shameful.

  8. This is very dishonorable towards the work of grace through faith in Christ, however it hearkens back to the times of the early church appropiating pagan practices into it's liturgy much of which has become common practice in many Western Christian churches. I predict (rather sarcastically) that in 200 years or less many Christian services will look like this and perhaps the programmed songs will be included in those hymnals as standards lol.

  9. Y’all can have the church of Beyoncé....I’ll stick to the Church of Jesus Christ....that’s the one he’s coming back for. The message of Christ and him crucified taking the penalty for our sin....rising on the third day, justifying and placing us back in to right relationship with God...for all who would place their faith and trust in him....that message has been changing lives for 2,000 years without the help of Beyoncé. I’m good....we good!
