How Many Pastors Does It Take To Run A Church??

Reader where did the idea come from that the local church is to be presided over by one leader who has been "called to the ministry? He is to be the principle preacher/teacher/pastor and the whole care of the church is primarily his concern. He counsels, presides over board meetings, visits the sick, marries the young, buries the dead. How in the world did we get here?

I was stumbling around on social media and came upon these pics of Dr. Betty Price teaching doing morning services at Crenshaw Christian Center this past weekend. I want to think that I read somewhere that Dr. Price and Dr. Betty both had given up teaching because of health reason. But now both have found themselves being forced back into the pastor/teacher/preacher role all because of a lack of properly trained staff.

I know some of y'all reading this don't like truth when it's coming from someone you don't like.  Young Apostle Matthew Stevenson did a scope two days ago addressing the exact same issue that the Price's are now facing. According to Apostle Matthew Stevenson it takes ALL five to make the church move. Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Teachers, and Evangelist. Check out the message below.

  1. Cop has questions.

It truly takes more than one pastor to run a church.

But all of your pastors SHOULDN'T BE MEMBERS OF THE SAME FAMILY!!!

Church shouldn't be treated as some self made business that you can just hand over to the next of kin/ or spouse.

You mean to tell me that a church that big doesn't have at least man desiring to serve the Lord that can help and take over the church?

When Mr & Mrs Price retired was there not a pastor in line behind their son in case he had issues???

Is their no one outside of the family that they can trust to preach the word???

Is this church so exclusive that you have to be a member of the PRICE family in order to preach???

    1. Just to follow up.

This is leaderships failure to plan.

How many times do we have to hear about a church pastors death, illness or moral failings, only to have the church search everywhere but IN THEIR OWN HOUSE for a replacement.

Or worse they have no replacement and they just justify the pastors behavior to keep him in the pulpit.

    2. Cop you be on point. The word pastor is only mentioned once in the bible, Ephesians 4:11-12. They are teachers, which is what it says they are. They equip the saints (disciples) to be ministers of the gospel.. No where will you find that one man is to be over all of the sheep of God. Read 1 Peter 5. It clearly states in this scripture that Elders
(more than one who has been appointed by the people) are to be the overseers, the shepherds of Jesus flock. The word shepherd has been twisted to make it into pastor, although you will not find it any the bible that says a pastor is the shepherd of the flock. Study it, you will not find it.

    3. I like what Dr. Stevenson said in the clip and I agree that the pastor’s job is to train the congregation to minister to one another. There’s a lot of lazy church members who think the pastor should do it all.

  2. Cop I agree with you! There probably are others in the congregation that could minister, but they aren't in the Price family. Pastors like to keep the ministry in the family for the reasons you pointed out.

  3. Both Fred and Betty Price should be enjoying their twilight season and resting from active ministry. They have truly enjoyed that. As I understand it, they have several ordained clergy on staff who are very much capable of preaching during the Sunday service at the very least. It comes across to me they hope to keep it within the family.

Speaking from the perspective of a pastor from a mainline denomination, I have learned that the pastor cannot carry the entirety of the ministry. I'm fortunate to have great and wonderfully trained lay members who have various gifts and talents that assist me including speaking on Sundays and conducting prayer meetings and Bible study. I also know that when I'm away for whatever reason, I have capable associate clergy that can carry the service without trying to take over lol.

  4. This dude said some bummed out stuff about pastors and the other "gifts" mentioned in the book of Ephesians. Instead of trying to bedazzle saying pastors are not for the CHURCH but for the people (because the CHURCH is the people), he should have said cut out the foolishness the idea of this false teaching "five fold ministeries". All this misinterpretation to say a church needs all 5 of these gifts is unbiblical.

He made too much of the gift of pastor. His use of verses in Ezekiel was way overboard, because when the prophets mentioned shepherds, he was talking about Israel's leaders kings, prophets, etc).

When Paul talked about church leaders he mentioned bishops and elders and deacons. So all O boy didn't have to exaggerate all puffed up to appear knowledgeable about pastors, nor appear to be seeking extra information apostles and "the prpohetic" as he call it. Even early on in his scope, he came across as arrogant first talking about how he wanted to drop some knowledge, like he had some kinda private interpretation or something. I'm never tricked by his kind.

Bottom line is when it comes to leadership, men can desire to be a bishop and elders and deacons. As bishops, they must be full of godly character, able to teach (See the dual role here), hospitalitible, vilagant, sober, not greedy, able to rule his house. Same as with the elders. And the deacons must be grave, holding to the mysteries of the faith, proven and faithful in all things. THIS STUFF IS REALLY NOT THAT HARD y'all. But some of us are just sit back being lazy, looking for this special and"anointed" individual to explain to us the simple things already revealed in God's WORD. Do it this way, and you will be TRICKED EVERY TIME.

ALL gifts (including those in Romans 12) are given to believers as the Spirit of God will. He gave some to minister, to exhort, to give, to rule, to counsel and show mercy. So this nut talking about pastors to heal, no sick and shut in, the gift for the people not for the CHURCH, and all the other garbage is UNECESSARY. I as a super saved saint, SAID I will bash this dude because he gives me reasons to do so.

Read your Bibles, there you will find the truth. And when you know the truth you can smell a lie a mile away. Fred Price and Crenshaw got it wrong because they are a bunch of biblical illustrates, just like the GREAT O DR. here!

    2. This is what happens when you treat the church as a family business and pass church leadership down to your son who had to step down because he was incompetent leader. There should always be more than one person who is capable of leading the church. What happens if the pastor unexpectedly dies.

    3. Nope. Wrong again William Thomas. This is what happens when you have an egotistical false teacher as your leader, and biblical illiterate parishioners. Again, every believer is given a gift for the edification of the body, even bishops, and elders, and deacons.

  6. If he's not careful, he could end up the male version of "Juanita Bynum". He rants in ways that are delusional, illogical, non-practical, senseless, and irrational at times. I hope he doesn't have a nervous breakdown with all his seemingly disconnects.

  7. At about the 28 minute mark he says pastors are smoking weed, sodomizing boys and molesting girls...because they (the pastor) is trying to do all five (apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, teacher). Huh??? Did I hear that correctly???

I thought giving in to the lust of the flesh/sin/carnality is what makes pastors do these things, not because the are trying to operate in all the five-fold ministry. Ephesians 5:11

    Help me somebody.

    2. Justsayin, he's trying to be super deep. This is what happens when one tries to have MAJOR revelation nearly every day. This is one reason why God only showed Moses a glimpse of Hismself. Too much will overwhelm the mind. The word is taught/revealed line upon line and precept upon precept. Stevenson's trying to be too deep for his own good. He may as another said, wind up sounding like Bynum if he's not careful.

    3. I know this does not apply to Betty, but for all saved Christian 83 year old, they should obey Scriptures to "teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children," Titus 2:4

ALSO, Betty is total out of ORDER teaching men. The WORD Of the LORD says

"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety." I Timothy 2:9-15

I've noticed the female on this site, never comment on these verses and verses like PROVERBS 31 which Shepherd and LADY CAPS so often quote, when topics are posted about women in church leadership as empowerment and a kick against the false ideal of misogyny. The women here tend to brush RIGHT over these passages.

I'm quite sure Betty knows these verses as well. She like most women here, brush right over them and disobey. DISOBEDIENCE is a SIN! And any one who supports sin is strengthening the hand of the WICKED. GOD judge all of YOU!

Ann I pray that y'all continue to support ccc ever increasing faith Dr. Fred and Betty price are solid servants of the lord Jesus Christ. Those who have spoken against Fred KC prices ministry will answer to God. Prosperity does not make you a false prophet and poverty to mean you're of God. It's about the work that you preach and Fred Price sr has always taught the word. I am fruit of their ministry. If it weren't for Him letting the Holy Spirit lead Him to walk in faith and miracle healing my mother would not be healed and I would not exist. So now more then ever stand with Dr. Fred and Dr Betty sow and come support in Jesus name they have done nothing but give they have done no wrong nor deserve any wrong.

    1. CCC Member. My advice to YOU is to leave that Church!

Fred Price Sr. is a false teacher. And contrary to what you believe, he teaches another GOSPEL, a BUNCH of LIES. His teachings do not line up with SCRIPTURES.

This prosperity teacher says falsely, things like -

"We are in control and God is not! So why pray to him, we might as well pray to ourselves."

"Jesus was rich. If the Mafia can ride around in Lincoln Continental town cars, why can't the King's Kids?” “That's the reason why I drive a Rolls Royce”.

I guess he is more elevated than the real apostles, In Acts 3:6 Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

"God the father cannot do anything in this earth realm without permission."

"Yes! You are in control! So, if man has control, who no longer has it? God”

FAITH DOME was built on a egotistical false teacher and lazy congregants who refuse to study the word of GOD. This brute beast and cloud without water impressed to make merchandise of silly folks, selling them lies, and tricked them into giving as he pimped them as merchandise. You better ask the LORD to remove the scales from your eyes CCC Member!

    2. Your correct, prosperity doesn't make a person false prophet.

      However,
If your pastor is rich BECAUSE HE IS A PASTOR. Your church is doing something wrong.

And Fred Price is not only rich, but he has built an empire that he doesn't want to let go.

Which explains why he has his 80+ year old wife preaching and teaching.
You just can let ANYBODY take over the family business.

  11. I'm a member also and for me I really love it when Dr. Betty teaches! She always loads you up with scriptures!

  12. Miss Ann,

As a believer in the LORD Jesus, this question is null and void.

"I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18).

Jesus owns HIS church and is THE BISHOP and SHEPHERD of our souls (1 Peter 2:25). We who have been saved by HIS grace have to mature and take on the strong meat (Hebrews 5:14); be noble like the Bereans (Acts 17:11), and learn that this life is NO LONGER about us (Galatians 2:20).

The WORD of God is that daily bread that provides us spiritual sustenance and life (Deuteronomy 8:3, Matthew 4:4 & 6:11).

For those who want to be elders/pastors in the church, should know that the duties assigned to their office require accountability to the Chief Shepherd. They have to be ready (1 Peter 5:2-4), lest they are turned away on the last day (Matthew 7:22-23). All that God requires of us is to do his will (Matthew 7:21).

"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." (2 Corinthians 5:1).

Let us learn to look to that which is eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18).
