If You Are Apostolic Have You Ever Had This Experience??

Reader good Tuesday morning to you all, I'm praying everyone reading this have a wonderful and marvelous day on today lets make it great in Jesus precious name.

Any of my Apostolic Pentecostal readers ever been flat out drunk on the Holy Ghost, or been in a church service where you witnessed it? I'm talking about can't stop speaking in tongues, waking up under a church pew kind of service. I have witnessed it, but it's been a long time. I miss those kinds of church services.

Anyhow, here is a video that came across my timeline yesterday that's going viral of a young man who supposedly got caught up in his sermon and preaching when all of a sudden he loses control in the spirit.   Let me first say that I don't know anything about this young man or his ministry affiliations. In my humble opinion, it's a good thing to see any young person wanting to preach the gospel, especially APOSTOLIC style. I do recognize REAL anointing when I see it but I do have questions about this and just what happen in the clip.

With that being said, this young man appears to be imitating a great COGIC preacher of the gospel who was anointed to do this from back in the day (Nathan Simmons)..there is nothing wrong with having admiration for those that go before us, but you had BETTER be anointed to do whatever it is you are doing, or it just becomes plain old theatrics that benefits no one in knowing Christ....what say you saints?

Read below what the young minister had to say about all the scrutiny that he's receiving.

  1. Miss Ann,

Much as Potts III quotes Acts 2:38; he fails to elaborate the whole chapter.

"...they were filled with the Holy Ghost, and they began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance... every man heard them speak in his own language... Parthians, and Medes..." (Acts 2:4-9). It is in the 13th verse that one person, not many, who mocks them that they are drunk. Please note that the people present recognized their respective languages and understood what was being uttered by the disciples.

1 Corinthians 14 gives us guidance on speaking in tongues. Paul emphasizes the need to interpret for those who are not able to understand. This is so that the church maybe edified. And he encourages those who are to speak in unknown tongues that it should be by two or three and one of them should interpret. If there is no interpreter, the one who is to speak in tongues should be silent. Why? Because there will be no edification of the church.

So if people didn't understand Potts III, they were right as per 1 Corinthians 14 to think he is crazy.

Again, the WORD of God is for life, preservation, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding (Deuteronomy 8:3, Psalm 19 & 119, Matthew 4:4). It has been tried, tested, preserved (Psalm 12:6-7) and proven to be true (John 17:17).

PS - being "slain/drunk in the spirit" is not scriptural. Believers should be careful lest they are dealing with being possessed by some other spirit that has nothing to do with the Holy Ghost.

    1. There is no biblical evidence of being so called "slain in the spirit." There's evidence of being filled with the Spirit and exhibiting the Fruit of the Spirit. But nowhere in Scripture do we find anyone being slain in the spirit.

  2. I do not know what to say. This is why we use discernment when we clips like these. Looking at the replies to the Facebook clip, people were just as carnal as this young man (if he was truly caught up in the Holy Spirit) was. However, I will not judge because it could have been legit. Try the spirits by the Holy Spirit.

  3. AS I HAVE STATED TIME AND TIME AGAIN. THESE FOLKS HAVE CASPER AND HIS UNCLE'S GHOSTS. THERE ARE YOU TUBE VIDEOS SO MANY ONLINE THAT FOLKS HAVE PUT OUT TEACHING FOLKS HOW TO COGIC SHOUT,DRESS, PREACH IT'S DISGUSTING. IT'S NOT FUNNY IT'S MAKING A MOCKERY OF GOD NOT THE DENOMINATION. THERE ARE SOME REAL SAVED AND SANTIFIED AND HOLY GHOST FILLED PEOPLES IN THE GRAND OLE COGIC. MAKING A MOCKERY OF THE SPEAKING OF TONGUES ISN'T FUNNY. THESE FOLKS DON'T HAVE THE COMMON SENSE TO KNOW THAT THEY ARE PLAYING GAMES WITH THERE OWN SOULS.

  4. I can understand being CAUGHT UP in the Spirit.
But if you are a pastor preaching to your congregation from the pulpit and charged with educating and encouraging the people of the church, what would having a pastor becoming

DRUNK in the spirit teach people?

    How is speaking in tongues
"WITH NO INTERPRETATION" edifying anyone except the pastor?

This pastors explanation is also pathetic.
    His statement
"You smoke weed to get high, and drink to get drunk. I worship and get both high & drunk."

So we are to getting saved to JUST GET HIGH?!?!
How about your soul being saved from eternal damnation?!
Spending eternity with our Lord and savior?!?! Or mentioning something to come to Christ besides getting mentally incapacitated.

These types of theatrics. I am not saying their not legitimate, but I can see where many people that are saved would be confused by this type of behavior.
    (Not mocking, just confused)

“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14:33
