Mother 'kicked out' of a Virginia church for breastfeeding uncovered doing Sunday Service!

Reader, how do you feel about breastfeeding in public? I don't have a problem with a mother feeding her baby in public, but I don't agree with it being done in the church sanctuary uncovered.

A  story about a woman who got kicked out of a Virginia church for breastfeeding uncovered during Sunday service says she is embarrassed and feels that her rights were violated after she was kicked out of her spot in church when she started breastfeeding her child during a service on Sunday. Annie Peguero, who posted a video on Facebook of herself talking about the incident, said she was approached by a woman almost immediately after she began feeding her 1-year-old daughter in the sanctuary of Summit Church in Springfield, Virginia.

  1. I breastfed both of my kids. However, I don't think you should allow your body to be exposed in public and use that as an excuse. What is wrong with getting a cover up? There are even certain clothes you can buy to accommodate breastfeeding. This is out of hand. I wasn't even comfortable and never had my body exposed for the world to see. In my church, there were lactation rooms and I loved it because you could still see the service via tv and nurse your baby in private.

    1. Tenacity, great comment. I really don't have a problem with mothers breastfeeding uncovered in public, in church is totally inappropriate. We go to worship and focus on God and this is a distraction. Go to the ladies room as a respect to other members.

  2. Yes, breastfeeding is a natural, but that doesn't give a woman the right to disrespect church members with small children, and bare her uncovered breast in public, especially in a church. My question to this idiot, disrespectful activist, is - why couldn't you have taken your naked breast out of view of young children? Does this church or all churches now have to have "ratings" like TV and movies do, warning against " possible nudity"? Also, this kind of bull*hit shouldn't be given any coverage or a platform, period end of story! She had options, but chose to try and bully a church instead.

    1. Not Happy I agree with you and the church. Breastfeeding should be in private and if it is necessary to feed in public, there should be covering.

  3. SHE WAS OUT OF ORDER AND VERY DISRESPECTFUL TO GOD AND HER PASTOR AND HER CHURCH MEMBERS. I BREASTFEED BOTH OF MY CHILDREN AND NEVER EVER ONCE DID I DISRESPECT MYSELF OR MY FAMILY. AND I USED CLOTH DIAPERS AND NOT PAMPERS FOR MY CHILDREN. THEY ARE 35 AND 36 NOW. BUT THIS MEW GENERATION IS SO LIBERAL AND DISRESPECTFUL. THEY FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE SO MANY RIGHTS TO DO WHAT THEY WANT TO DO. WHENEVER AND WHATEVER THEY WANT TO DO. SHE DOESN'T HAVE ANY RESPECT FOR HERSELF NOR HER CHILD. AND IF SHE HAS A HUSBAND HE SHOULD HAVE BBEN A GODLY MAN AND TOLD HER TO GO THE BABIES BIRTHING ROOM OR NURSERY THAT OUR MODERN CHURCHES. HAVE NOW FOR MOTHERS WITH CLOSED CIRCUIT TV'S SO SHE COULD WATCH THE SERVICE.OR BETTER YET SHE COULD HAVE PRE PUMP HER BREAST MILK FROM HOME THAT HAD BEEN IN THE REFRIGERATOR. AND FEED IT TO HER CHILD. NOW THAT'S BEING A VIRTUOUS WOMAN OF GOD A NOT A SILLY WOMAN. THE CHURCH HAD EVERY AUTHORITY TO ASK HER TO LEAVE THE MAIN SANCTUARY. SHE NEEDS TRAINING ON HOW A GODLY MOTHER IS SUPPOSED ACT IN CHURCH AND THE LIFESTYLE OF A GODLY MOTHER. APPARENTLY SHE THINKS JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A BABY THAT YOU CAN JUST DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO DO ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A WHITE WOMAN. YEAP I SAID IT.WHEN YOU HEAR ABOUT THESE STORIES ABOUT BREASTFEEDING IN PUBLIC AND LAWSUITS IT'S WHITE WOMEN'S. IT'S THAT SUPERIORITY COMPLEX.

  4. Miss Ann,

There are individuals who will do anything to get some attention. As a lady there has to be some form of modesty. Baring all in public because one has to breastfeed is a no-no. There is a generation of women who are now going out pushing the boundary for this private and intimate moment. And when they get called out, they get on social media. SMH!

  5. Miss Ann, what is it? U first say above u are for it uncovered in public but not in church. But then in your reply to 'Not Happy', you speak doubletalk and state the mother should have covering in public. Which is it? Or am I comprehending your replies wrong? Thank you.

    1. I mean just what I said! In my opinion a mother can breastfeed uncovered in any public setting she so choose but not in the sanctuary of a church. Which in my opinion the church is not just any public place it's a holy, blessed, consecrated, sanctified, sacred place set aside for the worship of a Holy God, that should be treated as such. A mother sitting in service breastfeed a baby is inappropriate and disrespectful to those around her. What happened to pumping milk in preparation for these types of outings? Nothing wrong with breastfeeding in public, but come on. Use some judgement and common sense.

    2. Ann I agree 100% with you, people need to understood just like most companies have a room for mothers who are nursing, churches have rooms for mothers to breastfeed. I'm not against breastfeeding, but use the provided rooms if you're not going to at least cover up (in church). It's not that difficult a concept to understand.

  6. This Woman is as STUPID as some of these other compromising people. What HONORABLE (Proverbs 31) woman would want to show her breasts out in public, especially in a church. I can TRUELY say my wife is a Proverbs 31 Woman AND we have taught our daughter to be the same way. Ok, I can't resist, THIS WOMAN IS AN IDIOT for even broadcasting this Foolishness.
