Ex-governor Robert Bentley, Asked Not To Attend First Baptist Tuscaloosa Followed Scathing Sermon!!!

Reader, while I'm an Alabamian by birth I'm in no way a fan of Ex-governor Robert Bentley by any stretch of the imagination, but this doesn't sit well with me. Now I can understand asking him to resign any leadership position, but being asked not to attend???  If I got this right, this pastor, and church, asked these folks to no longer attend there. The pastor said this in his sermon.

"Why is it that we think that people who are living in known, unconfessed ongoing sin should be able to come into our churches where we are preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and they should be comfortable?"

In my opinion, yes the pastor should tell people when they are wrong but don't stand there and preach about it in your sermon.  I literally dislike when a preacher uses a sermon or platform to tell someone off... Respect them enough to have a private conversation... in other words, let's just talk in the back.

  1. Miss Ann,

    Right on!

If someone has something to say to somebody, let them do it on the side (Matthew 18:15).

And if they are preachers, let them preach the WORD in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2) regardless of the personal issues they might have with individuals in their congregation.

  2. HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE. THE PREACHER WAS WRONG. YES HE SHOULD STEP DOWN FROM LEADERSHIP POSITIONS. BUT THIS MAN HAS A SOUL THAT NEEDS TO BE SAVED. HE HAS ALREADY ASKED FOR FORGIVENESS FROM HIS WIFE,HIS FAMILY AND THE STATE AND GOD ABOVE ALL. HE NEEDS COUNSELING. THE CHURCH IS THE HOSPITAL IF YOU CAN'T GO TO CHURCH FOR SOME HELP WHERE CAN YOU GO. THAT'S WHY YOU BETTER MAKE SURE THAT YOU KNOW GOD FOR YOURSELF. THESE SO CALLED WHITE EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS ARE FULL OF HYPOCRISY.

  3. That is what the Bible teaches you to do. If you keep people that refuse to repent, you end up with bad influence in the church.

  4. He can be expelled for his unwillingness to repent but the church can appoint homosexual in leadership.

  5. Any kind of unrepentant sinful behaviour in the church should be expelled. Whether homosexuality or adultery and so on. God does not differentiate on unrepentant sin in the Church and Paul states it clearly in 1 Corinthians chapters 5 and 6.
