Dr. Tony Evans Jesus Through The Bible!!

Reader in the video posted below Dr. Tony Evans give some of the very best ways to describe Jesus throughout the Bible, with some of His titles. When I heard this my heart jump for joy. Knowing that each book in the Bible has a title thing that will excite our hearts and our lives. But I love what he says about revelation that he is our soon coming King praise the Lord I'm looking forward to that day that he'll come back again and I'll be with him and you'll be with him praise God almighty.

 Love Dr. Tony Evans.

  1. Yeah I pretty much rock w/him & Johnny Mac for the most part.

  2. Miss Ann,

Dr. Evans did make an effort to have this out and sound right. I think he wanted to make this quick and to the point, yet he missed to put out exact scripture that aligns with what he said for each book of the bible.

But here are some of the foremost names of our LORD that he as a graduate in Theology should NOT have missed. I did not break down who Jesus is by each book in the Bible. Because it is not necessary and we know that Our LORD and Savior can NOT be contained in our limited understanding. For example, while Dr. Evans places Jesus as Redeemer in Exodus, Jacob had already declared him so in Genesis 48:16. Dr. Evans places Jesus as the Rock in 1 Corinthians yet Moses had already ascribed Greatness unto God the Rock in Deuteronomy 32:3-4. So here goes (with scripture):

Jesus is not only the Judge of the nations, but he is a Righteous judge (2 Timothy 4:8)

Jesus is the law giver (James 4:12)

Jesus is I Am (Exodus 3:14, John 8:58)

Jesus is Merciful, Gracious, Longsuffering, abundant in Goodness and Truth, …(Exodus 34:6-7)

Jesus is our sacrificial lamb (Isaiah 53:7, Revelation 13:18)

He is the bread of life (John 6:49 - 51)

And last but MOST important, he is our Shepherd (Psalm 23), the Good (John 10:11) and Great Shepherd (Hebrews 13:20).

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall NOT want…

  3. I must say just for a point of discussion per this post, Dr. Evans approach to title the LORD is way better than what I hear a lot of these Pastors who would preach "Jesus is your DOCTOR in the emergency room"; "He is your lawyer in the COURT ROOM"; "He is your Lover in the Bedroom"; "He is a wheel in the middle of the wheel"; "He is a mind regulator; and so forth and so on.

Personally I think a lot of what's preached in this manner and maybe what's listed here by Dr. Evans, touch a lot to the emotions, and though true in a lot of ways, can lead so some glossing over.

I do believe ALL should take to note who JESUS is, especially in these days and times, many even question HIS very existence historically. That said, from an historical perspective of the Bible, I take the approach to listen to THE LORD what He said about HIMSELF, and others who were present in his company said about Him.
Of Course this approach is not all inclusive.

"The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he". - John 4:24,25

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. John 6:35

"But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me." John 7:29

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." John 8:12

"And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world." John 8:23

"Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." John 8:58

"I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." John 10:9

"Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?" John 10:36

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:" John 11:25

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

"At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you." John 14:20

"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." John 15:5

"And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am? And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets. And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ. And he charged them that they should tell no man."

    1. @ Get Outta Here!!!

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall NOT want...

    2. Shepherd... Can't you just sense the power of Jesus' words, the POWER behind them that can possibly lead to repentance and strengthen one's faith? IJS

    3. This may be my next devotional sermon.

    4. Get Outta Here!!!

Jesus' WORDS are powerful and they are TRUTH! It is, therefore, hard to contain Him, who was, and is, and is to come (Alpha and Omega[Revelation 1:8]); between Genesis and Revelation (with no specific scripture). And make it sound like that is all our Savior is about.

"...but we know that, when he shall appear... we shall see him as he is..." (1 John 3:2-3)

      That's our promise!

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall NOT want...

    5. AMEN!!!
