So Donnie McClurkin Tells Christians To Stop Protesting Donald Trump??

Reader, this is coming from Donnie McClurkin a pastor who did not vote for Trump:

"Now is our time to pray for him this is the job of the church.  Let the world protest but the job of the church now is to go into prayer and pray that, number one, he succeeds, because if he fails, we have to deal with the consequences as a nation," he said before quoting 2 Chronicles 7:14."

Sorry, Pastor Donnie but this is not what Christians ought to do! Since it's Black History Month, let's allow the words of Fredrick Douglas to speak to your foolishness:
"I prayed for freedom for 20 years, but received no answer until I prayed with my legs"
In other words, Pastor Donnie, you need to study the civil rights movement and look at what institution was one of the main driving forces. Those saints did more than just clap their hands and pray on Sunday morning. They put their Faith to work.

  1. Miss Ann,

Hebrews 13:13 "Let us go forth therefore unto him, without the camp, bearing his reproach."

I watched the Women's March on TV, I didn't like what I saw. Obscenities galore! We should be VERY careful in trying to join ourselves for "Civil Rights". And I'm sorry, I touch a raw nerve given that it is "Black History Month". Please note, I'm black everyday.

We need to differentiate between worldly and Godly purposes. The enemy came but to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus came that we might have life to the full - eternal life (John 10:10).

I would rather purpose to live according to the precepts of my God than to eagerly join myself to "causes" that have nothing to do with eternal life.

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall NOT want...

    1. The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall NOT want.....Like Ms. Ann stated, Faith without works is DEAD... I'm going to protest and pray. We'd all still be under Jim Crow law if nobody protested. Women would have zero rights if nobody protested... I disagree with simply praying and doing nothing else. We have a social responsibility! Nobody's asking you to get out in the streets (leave that to us) but I promise you won't go to hell for signing a petition and speaking out against injustice. ✌️.

    3. Amen... The Civil Rights movement was hijacked a long time ago. All these so-called movements aren't nothing but distractions... (NAACP, Black Lives Matter, etc. are all distractions to real change.)

We know what the government did to the last true black movement leaders!!! (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. -murdered... Malcolm X -murdered... Huey P. Newton -murdered... just to name a few)

    4. Annisha Sapp... we aren't organized like Fredrick Douglas or Marcus Garvey... he have too many top heavy, egotistic, self-serving leaders... until we put aside ourselves and come together as a united front, nothing will happen. Signing petitions are useless when the law doesn't enforce what's already in the constitution.

Marching, sit-ins, signing petitions were good for the 60's... but we need to strategize in new ways while improving on the old.

    5. Rev. you really out of touch with reality. Tell that to Dr King, John Lewis, Dr Abernathy, Hosea Williams and many many more! Really? I can't! I will protest what I believe is harming my people and this country till I die! No thanks to Donnie and you.

    6. Rev,

You are truly lost. Where and what congregation/church do you you preside over?

    7. @Anonymous... I'm far from lost... because I don't agree with your way then I must be lost??? This is why there's no true change, we can't disagree without insulting one another...

    9. @the anonymous person who was arguing with Brother Kareem...

The young Black people who live today care more about weaves and Air Jordan sneakers instead of fighting RESPECTFULLY.

I am still shocked to hear young Black people making fun of Dr. King. I have heard young Black men calling him *weak". Young Blacks today, make fun of Civil Rights icons.

When Black people protested in the 50's and 60's, they got things done because they had God on their side AND were peaceful. And MOST Black couples were MARRIED---none of this boyfriend/girlfriend mess. It was a shame to have just ONE baby out of wedlock.

When Black people protest in 2016 and 2017...They LOOT their own Black neighborhoods and set cars on fire.

This isn't the 1950's and 60's when most Black people had self respect.

  2. How double minded and unstable... when Obama was in office we were told to pray for him and not to speak ill against him, because he's our brother and we don't air our dirty laundry... but now that Trump is in office those same rules doesn't apply... Come on saints...

Trump hasn't even been in office 100 days and he's making more progress towards the betterment of our country and us as a people then the last four presidents combined.

You quoted Fredrick Douglas but we don't have spiritual leaders who think like him today. We have race baiters like Al Sharpton and immorals like Jesse Jackson trying to speak for us.

I'm not going to be a fair-weather Christian and just pray when I like who's in charge.

    1. Rev so you agree with McClurkin that the protests do nothing but rile [people] up and it causes people's anger to rise up and it gives them a false sense of involvement? If so tell that to the civil rights leaders in the 50's and 60's. While I believe in the power of prayer, he that doesn't want to be changed will not unless they first realize change is necessary. To date, there has been no evidence that a change in mindset is on the way. Rev.I wonder where you and all of the other so call Christians were when President Obama was being character assassinated daily by so called Christians like you?

    2. @Anonymous... you have me confused... when Obama was being attacked I did the same thing... I prayed and spoke up for him (8 years)... for the record, I marched, I protested, I was involved when Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network organized protests... I was involved when Louis Farrakhan had his marches... I'm out in the hood of Newark, NJ fighting against the injustices of our people... I'm not speaking from a viewpoint of someone detached...

  3. Yes Donnie is right, at the end of the day... who's left to pick up the pieces? Us concerned preachers and pastors... what are the follow-up plans after the petitions and marches? What immediate actions are going to take place if our demands are ignored?

  5. Once again, asked to pray about it, why the power to be are making plans to destroy us. "let the world protest and we should be in prayer." Foolishness. Pray that he succeeds???? Have Donnie read his policies and his platform?? Praying he succeeds means you stand by his choices. Not saying pray that some of his policies change for the betterment of the people.
Last I checked, we are still IN this world. And this world still affects our daily lives. So no, I'm not going to just pray about it and let the world protest. I refuse to be on the sidelines complaining and praying and not getting in the fight.
    Donnie, FALL BACK!!!!

    1. Donnie & Rev would have probably been one of those slaves that Harriet Tubman tried to save but they would have said lets just stay here and pray for Massah!

They wonder why young folk can't get with the church now and leaving in droves. Its foolish rhetoric like this!

How about you pray for a wife Donnie. Can you do that?

    2. @Anonymous... you have me totally twisted... did you even read what I done or what I said??? No, because if you did, you'll understand my view is more then just marching...

    3. This coming from a so called Reverend that says Trump has made more progress in the last 100 days than the last 4 presidents combined.

      Ignorance is truly bliss huh!

I seriously doubt you are a Reverend dude.

      Misery truly loves company!

    4. @Anonymous God's people perish because they lack knowledge... you can't depend on CNN, Washington Post, New York Times, or any other mainstream media outlets to give you the truth.

Name one concrete bill that was passed that favored the progress of African Americans within the last four presidents?

  6. Once again the attempt make Christianity impotent by substituting a message "stopping the oppressor" with the main ideal of Christianity which is to perfect oneself. "Be ye perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect". Matthew 5:48

AND if you want to talk 'faith without works is dead", take note to understand the work you do is done by faith, and that faith is that same type faith that SAVED YOU.

  7. Donnie is right but let the sore losers continue their temper tantrum for the next four years. I am just going to sit back and continue to laugh at them because this is getting stupid.

  8. Martin Luther King, Malcom X, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks Winston Churchill, & Gandhi would have pimp slapped him if he had said that during their struggles for righteousness.

The fact that he has a platform to speak out is because someone was proactive in prayer AND ACTIONS.

This is EXACTLY why the churches have become powerless. They do a exorbitant amount of prayer and no action to truly want change things.

  9. Donnie is just an IGNORANT EXCUSE FOR A PREACHER. Less more than a man. He should have kept his mouth shut them he wouldn't have revealed how ignorant and stupid and how far he is out of touch of the reality of life. And what is happening in the United States of America at this time. Malcolm X , May Angelo, Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Andrew Young, Gandhi ,Fredrick Douglas, My Grandmother and Grandfather ,Bishop G.E. Patterson would have knocked him up side his head. These folks walked, these folks suffered, these folks protested , these folks prayed and fasted, these folks worked hard for us to have better homes, education, and HE thinks we should just SHUT UP. That's the problem now with the Church they are silent against the wrong things. All they care about is Money, House's, Vehicle's, Furs,The Largest Churches, That folks worship the pastor and his wife and family. They CHURCH don't have enough power to fight a flea. I bet if the I.R.S. And Trump was talking about taking that 501 (3c) he wouldn't just being praying his behind and the rest of these so called men and women of GAWD would be talking and protesting. Donnie stop being a PUNK and for once be a REAL MAN. Faith without Works is Dead. Yes Lord!!!
