Is It Fair of God to Send People to Hell?

Reader, this is one of those questions that bother  many people who have an incomplete understanding of three things: the nature of God, the nature of man, and the nature of sin. GOD is NOT SENDING anyone to hell....we are CHOOSING HELL over HEAVEN by not following Christ!! Remember God gave us ALL FREE WILL...we can choose HIM or we can choose the WORLD (ie SATAN)...if you don't choose GOD then you CHOOSE HELL. GOD isn't CHOOSING FOR US...WE make the choice.

As fallen, sinful human beings, the nature of God is a difficult concept for us to grasp. We tend to see God as a kind, merciful Being whose love for us overrides and overshadows all His other attributes. Of course, God is loving, kind, and merciful, but He is first and foremost a holy and righteous God. So holy is He that He cannot tolerate sin. He is a God whose anger burns against the wicked and disobedient (Isaiah 5:25; Hosea 8:5; Zechariah 10:3).

He is not only a loving God He is love itself! But the Bible also tells us that He hates all manner of sin (Proverbs 6:16-19). And while He is merciful, there are limits to His mercy. “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon” (Isaiah 55:6-7).

  1. I ask the question, is it wrong for the court system to put a white cop in jail for life, because the cop snatched a 6 month old black baby boy out of his mother's grip, shot the baby 10 times, killed him, because the baby was crying creating a public disturbance?

  2. Miss Ann,

It is fair for God to judge because He is a just God. And he does not judge according to appearance but he Judges righteously (John 7:24). The whole duty of man is to fear God and keep his commandment (Ecclesiastes 12:13). Unfortunately, the pastors preach everything else except the importance to walking in accordance to the precepts of God. They preach how God loves us no matter who we are or how far we have fallen. And that is it. They, either intentionally or through oversight (due to their theological training background) do NOT warn Christians against sinning willfully:

“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:26 – 21.

Jesus Christ Our LORD and savior fulfilled the prophets (Matthew 5:17 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”). And like Ezekiel he is the watchman in the watchtower warning us of the end times and judgement (Matthew 24):
“If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.” Ezekiel 33:3 - 5

So what must we who believe on the Name of Jesus do? Here it is:
“For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:20

We can all read the WORD of God. We, therefore, can purpose to have the WORD of God speak to us and his Holy Spirit teach us (John 16:13 - 15). We should mature and be able to take the meat (1 Corinthians 3:1 - 3). Let us move from depending on our pastors, bishops to teach us the WORD. The Spirit of God is present and able to teach us. This will help us catch all the heresies that spew from the pulpits these days. We will no longer need to go to conferences for deliverance, because our God has already delivered us by his Son Jesus Christ. And we purpose not to sin anymore.

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall NOT want…

  3. God does not send anyone to hell. An individual makes the choice to go to hell by his/her rejection of Jesus Christ. Hell was created for the devil and his angels.

It is NOT God’s will that anyone should perish in their sins and go to Hell... “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH, but that ALL should come to REPENTANCE” (2nd Peter 3:9)

"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." Matthew 25:41

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (Romans 10:9,10).
