Church Of God In Christ We Are Keeping The Convention In Charlotte!


Reader, Wednesday Charlotte Governor Pat McCrory had his folks draft up a statement praising The Church of God in Christ for keeping its convention in Charlotte next year. The governor, who has said there are, in fact, no losses due to HB2, says this convention will be a big gain. That is because the local ministers of that denomination held a press conference to announce that they are going to make up $30 million of the $100 million Charlotte lost from the NBA All-Star Game canceling because of HB2

This is very unfortunate for the COGIC wth the greying of their congregations, and the decline of young people returning to the church, this is a bad move, in a time when people of good will see this act as anti-Christ because it is anti-love. I've been a COGIC all of my life and never before have I been so ashamed to say so.

  2. This makes no logical sense; is COGIC gonna also consider moving their conferences out of states where abortion, fornication, drinking, gambling and divorce are totally legal (as a religious statement)?

    You never see them making any 'special' proclamations or stands "against" any other "sin," but always going MILES out of their way to target people who are LGBT. It's the strangest most imbalanced, irrational thing ever.

    This is clearly an intentional, strategic and consistently exclusive, unnecessary bias against the LGBT community in particular. This is why the rest of the world clearly sees this behavior as being discriminatory and hateful.

    All that energy could certainly be better applied to community-building and other proactively positive activities instead of showing how much disdain they have for a certain group of people by supporting those who don't respect their rights in a democracy.

    That sure is a new take on the "love of Jesus."

  3. It's crazy how he dismisses the bill by making it about bathrooms. Yea that's included, but not nearly the whole issue. The issue is that, you can once again be denied service, or jobs because the owner doesn't like gays, or trans, or black people. By holding your event in Charlotte, you are in turn also saying that discrimination is cool. I also feel like the NBA should not have more of a moral conscience than the Church.

  4. In my opinion this was a decision made without proper knowledge of what it means to be a trans human being. I'm extremely disappointed and don't understand how "The Church" can condone active discrimination against the LGBTQIA community. We need to be more diligent in situations that actually occur which is sexual assault perpetrated by grown men in the church. we're so focused on what others are doing & restricting others freedoms/forcing them to conform to a way of life we want them to, that we are failing to identify real issues in the church that need to be fixed (misogyny, sexism, homophobia, misogynoir, etc.)

  5. I have to say that Jesus said to the women that the Pharisees brought to be stoned to go and sin no more. How is it that people find that if you take a stand against sin it is somehow discriminatory. Let us look at what the bible says about sin:

    Ephesians 5:11-12
    And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

    1 Corinthians 6:9-10
    Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?     Righteousness exalteth a nation:
    but sin is a reproach to any people.

    We see in the preceeding scriptures that sin should be exposed. We should not support sin of any kind. Just because you onl see them taking a stand for one sin does not mean they shouldn't because they take no stand on other sins. What the body of Christ should be saying to the church do not accept other sins as well as homosexuality. If you do not like that the bible has called homosexuality a sin than that is between you and God. I will leave you with this verse
