White Evangelicals Want A New Language Around Race. Is Lecrae The Answer?

Reader singer and fast-rising evangelical leader Lecrae Devaughn Moore says black Americans don't trust church leaders anymore, whether they be black or white. This black evangelical hip hop star is talking about race in a way that's challenging his fellow Christians. Lecrae has criticizes church on race issues: We haven't seen you since MLK!"

While most Christian artists have struggled to break out of the Christian music subculture, Lecrae has found early crossover success — and a significant following among white evangelical elites. He navigates the tricky waters between rapping explicitly about Christianity while reaching a mainstream audience."

  2. Lecrae has been moving more towards an activist in his music than an evangelist. I just watched a TED talk featuring Lecrae and I was waiting for him to mention Christ and he never did. I hope he realizes that the answer to the worlds problems is the gospel and not theoretical debates and activism.

  3. Lecrae is a joke. I use to like him until I started examining his music more closely and realizing he was selling out, just trying to make by selling himself as a "Christian" rapper. People don't realize that when Christ is left out of music, it's no longer "Christian" music. So then why do we care what Lecrae has to say?
