Was This Church Out Of Line?

Reader a United Methodist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma commemorates Prince with the opening lyrics from “Let’s Go Crazy.” As provocative as Prince was (and a brilliant musical genius) it's refreshing to see a church acknowledge his passing.  They since have come under fire from some on social media for it. What do you think? Were they out of line?

  1. I was glad to hear him say that, & happy to think that this church may cause someone to dig in to the Word and see for themselves what God desires. I guarantee you'll have some visitors, too! I, myself, did not take the sign as the church "idolizing" Prince.

  2. I'm not of this denomination & love the Lord & found this sign pretty cool! I feel no need to rip into the kind of man Prince was, or slam this church, or judge any one. Folks need to lighten up! This sign could encourage someone who's lost to give God a chance!

  3. There is nothing wrong with what that sign reads. We all have to get thru, "this thing called life", like it or not! If you died tomorrow and some sign was posted on your behalf, would you want some bastard posting your downfalls. Rethink your position, if so, I'm sure you will be thought of differently when your gone. JS.

  4. That church I know for a fact, did not display any message when Andre Crouch died, nor did they display a message when gospel legend Darryl Cooley passed away. SORRY, the is a spirit of "worldliness" in this church, like it is in lots of other churches.

  6. Big should out to the Devil RIP! Yeah folks today that old Serpent was thrown into the pit. Oh don’t misunderstand me, I don’t say we should condone his wickedness, but we’ve got to respect his craft. I mean his cleverness was unmatched! His ability to transform himself into whatever he needed to be yet remain true to himself was uncanny. He transformed the world like no one else. He had millions of devotees. His powers of subtle persuasion were unequalled. Oh but I can hear some you Holier Than Thou types on your high horse (as though you’ve never sinned) talking about how bad he was, come on folks, just for a few days lets separate the Devil from his work, can’t we just recognize and acknowledge his talent. Don’t judge, just appreciate. God Bless!

    1. Then why you judging...calling folks "holier than thou"? The Bible does not say "Don't judge, just appreciate". It says "don't judge, lest ye be judge". Now go ahead and judge me and call me "holier than thou" because I quoted the Bible right. Do so and "ye will be judged".

  7. To both anonymous's: What the Bible actually says is:

Matthew 7:1-3 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
