Sad News: The Gates Have Swung Open For Otis Clay!

Reader sending sincere condolences to the family and friends of 2013 'BLUES HALL OF FAME' Inductee 'OTIS CLAY'. The  gates have truly swung open for the Mississippi-born singer.
The music industry had pegged Otis Clay as an R&B soul singer while the church world viewed him a gospel titan.

Otis Clay - whose gruff, tenor-tinged voice on blues songs such as "Trying to Live My Life Without You" varied from his haunting but hopeful baritone on gospel standards like "When the Gates Swing Open" and, "Sending Up My Timber". Clay died suddenly of a heart attack at 6:30 p.m. January 8, 2016, said his daughter, Ronda Tankson. Source:

  1. See...that's what happens when you mix the world and the church...The LORD doesn't have to send down fire and brimstone. He sometimes to let our actions pan out into their own judgment. That's why Christ tells us "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Sad to say...with all our God given talent and natural skills, The BLACK CHURCH DOES NOT know how to do MUSIC...Right Rev KAREEM...?

what in the heck are you talking about Anonymous?

    2. Let me explain before u really get to cussing comment was geared to the statement of this blog title that said "the music industry has pegged Otis Clay as an R&B Singer while the church would view him as a gospel titan". This conflictual assessment of his music is the result of this man mixing music worldly and supposedly godly. You can't mix the two. And again sad to say this mixing is what takes place in most black Christian music called gospel, even so in our churches. Now if u have a comment on the article, I'd like to hear it...
