Say What: Megachurch Pastor Says Revealing His Salary Would Violate Christ’s Teachings?

Reader, this is why it's time to start TAXING churches. He is doing the same thing that Joel Osteen did... build a mansion and claim that God wants him to have it.

Megachurch Pastor Steven Furtick cited Christ’s teachings in resisting media calls for more information about church finances. Pastor Furtick is used to questions about his gigantic mansion and other trappings of his apparent wealth — but he doesn’t usually face them directly from reporters. The pastor of North Carolina’s Elevation Church sat down for a rare interview that aired Tuesday on WCCB-TV, where he discussed various controversies related to his promotion of the “prosperity gospel.”

The adoption of the concept that "God wants us (Christians) to be wealthy" began years ago. I don't know where it comes from exactly but I think there are quotes used from the bible. As I've said for a long time now the bible can be used by anyone for any purpsose cause no matter your mind set, Peaceful or Ultra Violent, Giveing or Greedy, Kind or Cruel..... The bible can be used by you to verify if not back up your own personal biases.

Megamansion-building megachurch pastor says revealing his salary would violate Christ’s teachings

  1. The scripture he cites has nothing to do with revealing his salary. He is running a very profitable business based on the charitable giving of the congregants. If nothing else, he should disclose to the congregation what he is paid. The reason churches are given nonprofit status is because they are expected to do charitable works. Their personnel costs were higher than outreach costs, which makes does not seem to comport with the purpose of nonprofit status given to churches.
People should demand details of who is getting paid and how much.

    1. This is why every church member should read their by laws. Just like a company, the pastor is the CEO and the congregants are the investors. The CEO have quarterly meetings letting their investers/congregants what was brought in and what went out. So if you don't read your church by laws, anything goes.

  2. If anyone has heard this guy preach, realizes he is an absolute clown and needs prayer.. major.. and the congregation.. smh

  3. And I say, he's a liar and a thief and he's full of BS.

Another "I'll interpret the Bible to suit MY needs" preacher.

  4. So much info,
    So much FOOLERY

1: They spend 3.8 million in outreach? BUT 9 MILLION ON PERSONAL stuff. That's NOT A CHURCH, it's a business, that does a "little" charity on the side.

2: A 16,000 square foot home is NOT THAT GREAT? (That's bigger than my elementary school) Showing how COMPLETELY out of touch with REAL life many Mega church pastors are.

3: “But when you give to the NEEDY, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your GIVING may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:3-4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

That scripture has "NOTHING" to do with HIDING a pastors salary.

    So it's 1 of 2 things

1:Furtick is PURPOSELY deceiving people so he can live the good life. Knowing that no one in the church will read their Bible to verify anything he says.

2: He doesn't read or study the Bible for himself and just makes stuff up to keep the money rolling in.

In either case, he is not to be trusted.
