Church Announcement: Rev. Jamal Bryant Pulls-out of Congressional Race Against Rep. Elijah Cummings!

Reader's in a surprise move, the Rev. Jamal Bryant announced yesterday that he was dropping out of the race for Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings’ seventh district seat. Bryant, who is the pastor of the Empowerment Temple AME Church in West Baltimore, announced his intentions to run for Congress only eight days ago. At the time he said he was hoping Cummings would run for Barbara Mikulski’s soon to be open seat. Mikulski announced earlier this year that she was retiring. The Bryant announcement was quickly followed, however, by a Cummings announcement of his intention to run for re-election. Source:

  1. Good move that may have prevented a lot of unnecessary drama. I can only imagine that the conversation between Bryant and Cummings was tensely cordial as Bryant realized that he should exit the stage.

    1. I wouldn't assume he was called to pastor at all. Game recognizes game and this guy isn't authentic.

  4. What a mess... We quit and give up too soon... Sometimes we get so stuck in a building... When in fact we need to be taking over the marketplace, the government, the media, etc... They must have wrote him a check to bow out... Smh.
