More Americans Say That You Can Be Good Without God?

Image
Reader for the first time, a majority of Americans — 56 percent — say it is possible to be a good person without a religious belief. So says new Pew Research Center data drawn from two polls conducted among about 5,000 American adults in June and July. “God is not a prerequisite for good values and morality,” Greg Smith, Pew’s associate director of research, said in a post about the findings. ” … [T]he public’s increased rejection of the idea that belief in God is necessary for morality is due, in large part, to the spike in the share of Americans who are religious ‘nones.

    1. Look...Here's what I am trying to say... Rance's music, though called "gospel", is not a new song, a spiritual song and is not about the Gospel at all. Just look at the lyrics of Lance's Song "DO YOUR WILL" -

      Chorus 1:
      I'm gonna do Your will,
      I'm gonna do Your will.
      Gonna do what you say,
      gonna do it your way,
      I'm gonna do your will.
      Chorus 2:
      I'm gonna give You praise,
      my hands I'll raise.
      I'm gonna do what You say,
      gonna do it Your way;
      I'm gonna do your will.
      Verse:
      Somebody said hush, but I couldn't hush.
      They said sit down, but I couldn't sit down.
      You see, it's just like fire shut up in my bone,
      even if I tried, ya'll, it just would

      Now compare the lyrics of a new song, a spiritual song "COMING HOME"

      I’ve wandered far away from God,
      Now I’m coming home;
      The paths of sin too long I’ve trod,
      Lord, I’m coming home.

      Refrain:

      Coming home, coming home,
      Nevermore to roam;
      Open wide Thine arms of love,
      Lord, I’m coming home.

      I’ve wasted many precious years,
      Now I’m coming home;
      I now repent with bitter tears,
      Lord, I’m coming home.

      Refrain:

      I’m tired of sin and straying, Lord,
      Now I’m coming home;
      I’ll trust Thy love, believe Thy word,
      Lord, I’m coming home.

      Refrain:
      My soul is sick, my heart is sore,
      Now I’m coming home;
      My strength renew, my home restore,
      Lord, I’m coming home.

      Refrain:

      My only hope, my only plea,
      Now I’m coming home;
      That Jesus died, and died for me,
      Lord, I’m coming home.

      Refrain:

      I need His cleansing blood I know,
      Now I’m coming home;
      Oh, wash me whiter than the snow,
      Lord, I’m coming home.

      See the difference,…the LYRICS of Lance's song are trite, almost to the point of "childish". While "COMING HOME" pours the idea of how we as sinners str away from GOD and pleas for the LORD's washing by the Blood of Jesus Christ.

      Not to mention the "music" of Lance's song, so much like a rhythm and blues arrangement makes you want to do the "Ne-Ne". Not to mention Lance’s favorite “MIRACLE WORKER” (what a mess!!!)

      The music for "COMING HOME" gives you a sense of what it feels like to drift away from God, and a strong desire to come Home to Him. Just like in a movie when there is a scary scene, the music is "scary". It paints a picture of what is happening on screen. Christian Music should complement the LYRICS (deep) it conveys about OUR SAVIOR.

      Almost all, if not all of "gospel" music is disjointed, and unbalanced. Our God is not disjointed. The LORD OUR GOD is three, yet ONE.

      This is just one example.
