Question: Does Today's Black Church Still Have A Role To Play In The Fight Against Social Injustice?

According to Dallas Texas Megachurch Pastor T.D.Jakes, they do. Whether it’s Mike Brown’s funeral or weighing in on Trayvon Martin, Bishop T.D. Jakes is ready to tackle the social justice battles being waged throughout the country. In Dallas, Bishop T.D. Jakes says he participates in a council of churches, comprised of black and white churches, that address social issues in the community.

The days of the black churches spearheading a movement the way the did during the Civil Rights Movement are gone, Jakes says, but black churches still have a role to play in the fight against social injustice.

  1. The church should. However, the church is guilty of the very injustices they complain about. Which, in turn, plays a role in why this world is so confused and void of moral standards.

  2. Church today, especially black churches, are only interested in making money. And these are the ones that are headed by greedy crooked pimping preachers. They are complete failures regarding helping the black community.

  3. How in the world can 73% of our black children be born to unwed mothers, while our young males, which make up less than 6% of the US population, are committing nearly 50% of all US murders. The black church is seemingly only a former symbol of moral principal, too concerned about congragation size and donations to preach meaningful lessons.

  5. The "Brick and Mortar" church is full of INJUSTICE ! So much of it, that some of it is actually criminal ! I have experienced it and have seen so much foolishness in the "church", that it`s an ungodly shame.
