Church Will There Be A Rapture?

Is the teaching about the rapture new to the Black community? After reading numerous posts online I'm inclined to think so.  There is major divided opinion in the Body of Christ right now as to whether or not there is going to be a Rapture. The movieLeft Behind premiered yesterday! The movie is based on the doctrine of the "rapture" (from the Latin rapturo, to take out or "snatch out."). There are various versions of the rapture, but they have in common the belief that Christians will be removed from the world by God during the "end times." Is this doctrine biblical? What are your thoughts? Will there be a Rapture of God’s saints before the Tribulation, or do all of God’s people living at that time have to go through the Tribulation and possibly be martyred for their faith??

  1. The word rapture is not in the Bible, but neither is the word Trinity. Some theologians, Christians, and churches believe in the rapture and others do not. Some believe in the Great Tribulation, while others do not. What are we to believe if some teach about the rapture while others do not? I grew up in the black church and never was I taught about end time.

    1. The vast majority of Bible scholars, churches, theologians, evangelists, and Christians do believe in a coming rapture. Even though the word rapture does not appear in the Bible, they base their beliefs on a passage from 1 Thessalonians.

  2. We shall be caught up! Hallelujah!

  3. The Rapture of the Church will be the most startling event to happen in all of human history. Millions will disappear in "the twinkling of an eye." Great confusion and bewilderment will occupy the minds of those left behind. Many explanations for the disappearance of those missing will be entertained. In the meantime the Church will have been "caught up" in the air to appear before the Lord at the "judgment seat of Christ" (2 Cor. 5:10). This will be a judgment of rewards based on the believer's works. It will be a time of great joy for many as they hear the Savior's "Well done, thou good and faithful servant" (Matt. 25:41). For some it will be a time of shame and regret (1 John 2:28).

  4. I do believe Jesus IS coming back. Which mean I believe in the Second Coming Of Jesus, which is different from the rapture. Personally, I do not believe in the rapture, of the church. Although this may very well be an important theological discussion, it should not cause division within the body of Christ.

    1. I may not agree with you on the rapture, but your final statement speaks volumes!!! It's not essential for salvation and shouldn't divide us!

  5. In the book of Matthew 24 the word Tribulation is mentioned. It states that certain things will happen on earth after the great tribulation after all the saints are removed from earth. So I do wonder if raptures is being used to replace tribulation or are they interchangeable

  6. According to Matthew 24 there will be wars, false Christs, famines, pestilence , persecution of Christians, false prophets, desolation in the holy place, and even greater tribulation than I've just mentioned. Verse 22 says that except these days are shortened, no flesh shall be saved. BUT FOR THE ELECT'S sake( which are Christians) these days will be shortened.

Verse 29, immediately after this tribulation the sign of the Son of man shall appear. He will THEN, at this time, instruct his angels to gather/rapture his elect from one end of heaven to the other.

Verse 40&41 speaks of people being taken, while others are left behind. This is the angels obeying Jesus' command to gather his elect AFTER the tribulation.

Basically, Christians should be prepared to endure great tribulation.
