Is Christian Rapper Lecrae Right: You Can't Fight For Equality While Singing About Lawlessness??

Question: Is the above tweet damaging? Do you agree with Lecrae comment, that members of the Hip Hop community cannot ask for equality and justice while at the same time making music about murder, misogyny, and lawlessness.

Lecrae tweeted the above tweet early today....and you no what happen, it open up a can of worms among some of his followers. Twitter:

  1. I think there is a fine line between art & real life and young rap fans tend to believe the art is real life. With that being said, I don't agree with Lecrae. Regardless of your occupation, we all have the right to demand that our civil rights be respected. I do, however, believe that rappers should be way more responsible with what they say because a LOT of people take their words for face value.

  2. I would agree.

Many rappers (not lecrae) talk about beating, killing, robbing & rape

And then the rappers complain about the stereotypes that they promote.

Mean while the rapper is living in a gated community, with his wife and private schooled kids.

  3. I agree! About time someone brought up the hypocrisy in mainstream hiphop. No one takes you seriously as an 'activist' if you encourage murder of your OWN people in your music directly or indirectly.
