I was reading a comment that was left on a message board by a new pastor. Who was asking questions about the covering doctrine. He mention he was told when he first accepted his calling to preach that he could not minister without protection and he would be curse if he did so with out a covering. So, where did this idea originate that believers need to be "covered" in order to serve God and minister within the Body of Christ? Do people really believe they can't live a Christian life if they are not under some man leadership? Doesn't the Scripture instruct us to follow no man? Are some Christians under the shadow of fear that without "covering" they dare not minister, preach, pray or do many other things they are called to do by the Spirit of God, because they will somehow be ministering without protection? Is there support in Scripture for the "covering" doctrine? Is it a man made doctrine thought up by church leaders for "power and control" and used to trick vulnerable believers into coming under their influence? This teaching sounds demonic and wicked to me.
This is the covering doctrine in a nut shell for all those who are not familiar with this doctrine. In order for a believer to receive the blessings and protection of God. The believers need to be submitted in and to a spiritual family. And how they demonstrate their submissiveness to God's authority is by submitting to their local church leaders who in turn "covered" on up the line to the top of the line, with the idea that a person or persons at the top of the line are themselves directly submitted to Jesus Christ, having been divinely chosen or "anointed" to apostolically "cover" those underneath them. What ever happen to Christians being accountable to Christ and Christ alone? Covering Doctrine!
